Saints Row is an action-adventure video game and reboot of the Saints Row series. Developed by Volition and published by Deep Silver, it was released on August 23, 2022, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia. The game received "mixed or average" reviews from critics, according to Metacritic.
Saints Row is set in the fictional city of Santo Ileso, located in the American southwest, and based loosely on the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. Santo Ileso is under control of three criminal gangs: Los Panteros, a gritty vehicle and fitness-oriented gang; the Idols, an anarchist gang focused on clubs and nightlife; and Marshall Defense Industries, an international private military corporation based in Santo Ileso that is known for advanced high tech weaponry. The player-character, "The Boss", is a former member of Marshall Defense Industries and assembles a new gang from dissatisfied members of these gangs and to seize power from them. These new members include: Neenah, a mechanic formally with Los Panteros and serves as the gang's driver; Kevin, a DJ that was part of the Idols and handles the execution of their heists; and Eli, a business entrepreneur with an MBA that plans the Boss's gang's activities.[1][2][3]
The city is broken down into nine districts, which include Rancho Providencio, a run-down rural town; El Dorado, a gambling casino haven comparable to Las Vegas; and Monte Vista, a suburban area. The player will work to take over these districts, granting them certain benefits. The player is able to use empty lots in secured districts to launch illegitimate businesses with legitimate fronts to help finance and benefit the gang.[1] The city includes more vertical areas with tools that the player will be able to use to take advantage of that.[1][3] The driving gameplay has been improved to encourage the use of vehicles as weapons themselves alongside guns.[2]
The game includes a detailed character creator for the player-character, including selection of gender.[1] There is a drop-in cooperative multiplayer with a second player, with each player having their own Boss character and progressing in their own missions while helping the hosting player.[1][2]

i remember back in 2012-2013 Dmc (reboot) came out and none of the fans like it and thought the series was dead after but 2019 dmc 5 came out and went back to its roots. I hope saints row can make a comeback like that 🙏🏽

I was glad DMC went back to its roots, but I did enjoy the reboot. Loved the soundtrack and level designs.

I enjoyed watching you be easily amused playing this game. I hope you are genuinely having a good time playing this game and aren't just pretending because I'm jealous at how easily you're able to look past all the glaring flaws of this game and just enjoy it.
I myself would not be willing to pay the price of entry for such a lackluster game but judging from this gameplay, it should be down to about $10 within the next 3 months or so.

Coming from someone who likes this new saints row, and SR2. I just accepted we will never get anything as good as SR2 again, and I make due with what we get. However, I definitely agree with the flaws of this game, and especially how lifeless the open world is (outside of missions). Overall though, it's a fine game.
I think a lot of people thought this was supposed to be going back to it's OG roots of SR2, and then slammed into a massive wall of disappointment. It was evident to me after SR4, we lost all the OG devs from SR2, so we will never get anything as good as that again. I really hope we can get a good remake of SR1 and 2 some day though, but I don't have my hopes up.
When will we ever get equipped/sheathed weapons on our character in games like this? I want to walk around like Rambo. Was so pissed when you couldn't see your weapons on your guy in Fallout 4. Like rifles on back, pistol on thigh/hip or waistband? Instead of pulling them out of thin air.

Days Gone come to mind. The weapons that you have are attached to your character. Also Horizon Forbidden West your bow and arrow and grappling hook is on Aloy.

"is our time now" that line is use in every saints row where you need to talk to your gang i know sr1 and 2 had it
Yep; Julius says "It's our time now, let's get this sh*t started!" in Saints Row 1 after assigning the Playa and The Saints their gang targets.
The Playa says it after assigning their Saints against the Hoods in Saints Row 2.
The Boss says it just as Act 2 starts in Saints Row The Third after the attack on Stilwater Bridge and they gather new Steelport Saints.
And the Boss/President says it before the last two missions of the game in Saints Row IV.
But it wasn't uttered in Gat Out Of Hell or Agents Of Mayhem. Nice to hear the phase once more in this reboot.

Hope it was worth it, man. I remember you shredding Far cry six to pieces. This game makes Watchdogs Legions look like a underrated classic in comparison.
I absolutely loved this game, the store was a little cringey butt gameplay was just as good and kept bringing me back everyday til I beat it. Haven't replayed but am waiting till a friend picks it up when it's on sale to run thru a coop playthrough
For me personally this doesn't feel like a saints row game at all.
My issue is that I've just replayed all the saints row games in prep for this one and doing so just made it so apparent how soulless this game is.
Saints row 3 has me in stitches laughing 50% of the time and the other 50% I'm heavily invested in the characters and how our actions physically change the open world.
Saints Row (reboot) makes you feel dead inside 50% of the time with horrid jokes that are clearly designed for children addicted to TikTok but yet those kids shouldn't even be playing an 18+ game so it makes no sense who the jokes are pandering to?
Not to mention its just not fun, the open world is borderline baren, the game is absolutely bug filled, the story is shit because the characters just are not charming. Not a single one of them hold a candle to even the weakest saints row 3 side character.
Even your gang, they look like TikTok influences not a fucking gang, its so dumb.

I respect your opinion but I'm finding this Saints Row just as fun as the previous games. It reminds me more of Saints Row The Third in terms of tone rather than Saints Row 2's tone but I'm liking it. 💜

Yet another amazing franchise absolutely destroyed by devs who decided to become woke and focus on being inclusive rather than make a good game.
We should have all seen it as a huge red flag when the first trailer for this game dropped and all innuendos, sex jokes and rude humour where missing or replaced with pg humour only for the dev team to pull a hissy fit and say we don't know what's good for saints row, they do.
The devs care more about the color of their hair and flags then developing a fun game.

@@JohnClam you're allowed to dislike it and have valid criticisms, that's not the problem. I've seen RUclipsrs blowing up the smallest shit like it's a huge issue. I saw people on reddit blatantly making shit up. I saw people talking in one post about how much they don't like the game, then saying in another post that they haven't played it. nobody ever seems to have reasons WHY they don't like it, just a few vague buzzwords. I haven't seen anybody say it's their favorite but a lot of long time players have been putting it in their top 3 of the series, it's a solid middle of the road game. everybody has their own opinions, but these cringe NPCs playing follow the leader because someone else told them it's a terrible game is sad.

I really like your review of the game. Having people say how much they don't like it is tiring. Hearing someone laugh about it and have fun shows how good the game is. Yah it's not like the old saints row but it's still a decently fun game. 😊👍
Probably 99% of video games can be fun to mess around with and just try to have a good time. But when a game is reviewed, a lot more is analyzed than just how fun you can make it be... and this one is complete let down in just about every category possible... except for "goofy & quirky"...

Yeah. Boss is the hardest difficulty. You can however change difficulty whenever you like

Dumb fun sums it up well. It remains to be seen if the plot and characters have enough energy to pull me through the game, or whether I give it up from a sense of meh.
I heard the game is pretty silence if you stream or make content for it due to it just having a lot of copyright musics. Definitely make it a lot more awkward when you watch someone play it.
Bruh, one of the funniest things I found so far is the zelda loot easter egg if you dumpster dive a specific location you get a weapon called The recycler and it does the zelda loot sound and animation

I like seeing videos of people having fun with Saints Row. The game has its valid problems but I feel the flaws have been over exaggerated to sell hate, with some people pretending that the game is one of the worst things ever made.

I’m not so sure bro. Most of my favorite reviewers are super fair with their reviews and are Saints Row fans from way back. They aren’t into selling hate and they all genuinely disliked this game and were very disappointed. I’m sure there are plenty of other reviewers out there who will just bash the game for the sake of it and just slap “woke trash” on their review. But the game is genuinely in really bad shape so it deserved lower ratings just from the technical issues alone. Story, characters and dialogue are also a step down from previous SR games.

People need to stop putting so much value in video game reviews and metacritic. One of my favorite games Godhand was universally panned back in the day but that game was fun as hell and I loved it. Research and watch videos on the gameplay and if it looks fun to you and you want to get it then get it. Stop looking for validation from reviewers and play games that you wanna play.

I never understood the hate for these games. I’ve always had a blast playing saints row.
The shooting feels unpolished, the game world is empty, the missions are rinse and repeat "shoot these enemies then go here and do it again".

Every gta games are evolution of their predecessor, the gameplay is always improved, the story are never the same, the world is coherent and graphics are incredible for the time of their release. I don't like the comparaison between GTA and Saint's row because they are not the same. Saint's row 1 and 2 are the best in the series, but this right here, is a freaking joke. The character design is horrible, they look like sjw from Twitter. The jokes are not funny and the story 🙄

@@another_day4783 that's not true. Some of the most memorable gta moments are when you aren't shooting people. San Andreas alone had airplane flying missions, house robberies, training in the gym lol
The biggest thing that sticks out to me in this game is the sound design, legit feels like it's missing half of its sound files
What platform are you on?
It seems like PC users are having a lot of issues with the controls not working suddenly. EG they suddenly can't shoot or jump half way through a mission!
I'm on PS5 and, although I've come across quite a few anoying bugs such as map icons dissapearing, game resetting my outfit, getting stuck in combat pose etc, nothing too bad yet after about 3 to 4 hrs play.
This game gets a lot of hate, and yes, it’s got some issues, but I’ve been playing it for a few days and it’s just mindless fun. It’s not as bad as it’s made out to be, in my opinion. It’s a cheesy Saints game, and I accepted that going in. I’ve been having fun with it.
About 4 hours in I like it. It’s really entertaining gonna play tomorrow after work

I enjoy this game more than the Third and I've played all the previous games! This doesn't feel like a AAA title but the last Saint Row game that actually felt like a AAA title was Saints Row 2. That game made a LOT of GTA fans say that SR2 is better GTA4 and I've only heard crickets since. I was hyped for the Third and seeing a conclusion to the story's deeply seeded betrayels in the first game. Volition instead concluded the unfinished story from the first game in an unreleased spin off downloadable game for the Xbox Kinect and Ps Move. They killed off and redesigned the two best lieutenants from the last two games(dies in the very first scene and you can't call the voodoo hotline to bring him back? Gotta wait for aliens to bring him back in the sequel..?) and now the Boss enlists a teen heart-throb from a vampire show, an ExFBI agent that doesnt shower and a "pimp" that likes to wears gimp suits and talks in auto tune. I thought the DLC-esque SR4 and Gat Out of Hell was more enjoyable than the Third just because I had no expectations and they actually made a lot more referances to SR1&2 than the Third made. All that said, being better than the Third is still a very low bar. The story is predictable and the gameplay now feels like it's a decade old but I'm still happily coming back to upgrade the city and do the activities. This feels like it could have been a proper Saints Row 3 if it was released 10 years ago but right now I'd agree with a 7/10. If you're a Saints Row fan, you might like it or hate just like the last 3 games.

I think the new saints row is actually not too bad, it's just completely different and does not look like it's original self, but I haven't played it yet, so I don't know how the gameplay is. but I understand why some people are kind of disappointed, it's because most people are not use to the new style and how different it is, they are mostly use to the original.

Real helicopters aren't that hard to take out, with a fully automatic weapon just aim for where the main rotors are. Seriously a little damage to those things and that helicopter is coming down.
yeah no. hitting a moving target in the air with small firearms? sounds borderline impossible.

@@josephhuggins5394 Over 5000 helicopters were lost in Vietnam, many to firearms. 1 man shooting at a helicopter is unlikely to hit, but 10 guys, all with machine guns, absolutely. And it's Saints Row, it's never been about realism.
You should try playing with the nemy health bars off. Much more enjoyable for me personally and removes unnecessary clutter from the screen

I'm just waiting the year for it to come to Steam. I just personally don't like the clutter of having to deal with lots of launchers so Epic is a no go for me, but this is definitely a buy for me when in about a year I guess.

I got the gamer for free when I bought an amd gpu recently, I'll play it to mess around. Good fun for when you just want to turn your brain off and have fun. It's like a bad 80s or 90s action movie complete with the one liners and over the top antics.
Yeah, there shouldn’t be any negativity if you like games that others don’t. Don’t sweat :) despite full knowing that the SAO games or the too human game has been pandered as trash, I love those games! We all have that one movie/show/game where you can’t explain why you love it, but you do.

I’ve been playing most of today and I definitely agree. It’s just an upgraded saints row 3 but the story is pretty weak. Overall though I’m definitely having a fun time.

Bro don't do saints row 3 like that, this is very much so not an Upgrade.
It's a downgrade in nearly every single way and the gameplay such as gunplay is literally copy pasted from saints row 3

I think if they learn from their Mistakes and make some DLC for less than $10 it could definitely be a Genuinely Great game. Personal opinion, but I'd like a Continuation of the Dustmoot missions. (I forgot how it's spelled, but you know what I mean)
I am having some fun playing it but I love the SR series. I can see ppl that are indifferent to the series not enjoying themselves at all. I have a long laundry list of bugs and simple usability issues tracked. They barely added anything and they have actually removed some things that should have been a given. This should not be a game that could have come out when 3 did, but that's how it plays. It should have been so much more.

@@Its_Elu What are you talking about, the other saints row games don't feel that way because the first 2 how a good story that is gritty and dark, and not to mention the activities were fun, as for the third game it's okay, but the story not that great. as for this one, this is not a saint's row game, because it took everything that the original two had, and don't compare it to three because volition is suffering through an identity crisis, honestly this game would be fine if it was its own title game, but they used because of the fans

Took me forever to make my character. But when I started playing I am having a blast. It's really fun to play and I've enjoyed all the saints row games love the wingsuit too it's like gliding in sr4 but better (hope thats not a spoiler but it was shown in the trailers)

The open world concept never gets old for me, and I haven't seen a Saints Row in a desert setting.
Compared to GTA 5, the car customization is the deepest in the SR franchise. I've never seen the option to choose age of paint!

I bought the game a few hours ago and I was confused about what challenge to choose.. hustlers, boss, etc? I went with boss. Not sure what was the best option
Oh, god is terrible the enemies are bullet spongy as f and kill you in 2-3 bullets. I started on that difficulty but jeez I wasn't enjoying it at all, I got pass the panteros mini boss fight and that was it. Changed everything to 6 in difficulty
@@alandanger6285 I’ve managed to get pretty far on boss mode, but definitely a pain in the ass.. only thing I read up regarding the difficulty option is that the boss option gives you more money and xp..

should’ve listened to the fans and gave us the game we have been asking for, YEARS we have been asking for a gangsta game that is like SR2 and SR1 smh but no they rather make a pop culture game to pull in little kids that don’t even care to know what saint row is .. completely ignored and disrespected the fans that went in for them and wanted one simple thing now look at the how the game is going 🤦🏽♂️ it’s truly sad, they had one task to complete. LITERALLY ONE and they fumbled.

America Buss It Right....I brought the game as on the first of September & take from a common guy....here's my thoughts (Bare With Me). Let's start with popping the disc into my PS4 console....the load time wasn't too long considering the vast content this game has. But when the game finally loaded I got this long permission statement (Agree or Disagree) like I was agreeing my life away. Once I got thru that just like I do with my other games I immediately went to settings. Adjust the lightings, the audio, turn off subtitles & pick a difficulty. I usually choose normal until I beat the game after that I go for hard. When the game started it felt like "Saints Row 4" until you are able to explore the open world. As you progress they the game then the vibe changes to a glitchy, buggy, crashy "Agents Of Mayhem". I did experience minor glitches & my game only crashed 3.times but most of my play it ran good. I also want to stress to save your game very often.....with the crashes if you don't save your game it will either start the mission over or you might get a corrupt glitch now you have to reload the game all over which is a bummer. The music is so generic... although I like the Spanish Reggaeton, The Electro & Old School Rap Stations but the others was corny to me. I won't tell you to not to buy this...,but I will say this game is a "Pot Roast" that too raw, too undone & should of stayed in the oven for 6 more months. Lastly, I created a "Bad Azz Tattooed Black Girl Boss which I call " Tameka". The customizations is superb but don't hold your breath if you think this installment will make "Game Of The Year". If you haven't play it yet, just check it out for yourself. Or wait for the Day patches & updates...,take care America.....
