Years ago, I went to a movie theater and saw the simulcast of their 'farewell show'. Apparently they just couldn't stop playing. At any rate, this was in Irvine Ca. I'm not a huge fan but the experience was great. The show was sold out so a ton of people snuck in. I think about a quarter way through the show, someone held the backdoor of the movie theater open and hundreds of people came in. The place was completely packed; wall to wall people flooding out the back doors. Everyone was smoking pot and throwing glowsticks. I have a feeling the movie theater staff wasn't pleased or amused at all. When it was over and we exited, I swear every cop in Irvine was waiting at the door. But there was nothing they could do. Strength in numbers. The numbers are on our side.
I lost my mind seeing them at Jones Beach in New York. Tripping on mushrooms with a torrential downpour as well. The most incredible time of my life... hands down.
When they dropped some of the back drops down during the storm in the second set you could just see Chicago in the background even better and holy cow that was such an amazing view. That plus the lights plus the rain PLUS the lights making the rain more apparent and cool looking was just
You're right of course. I should've said "not many band's fans...". I only made it to one GD show in '95, and I was only thirteen so I don't think I was able to fully appreciate the experience, but I have tons of respect for GD/the Dead/Ratdog etc. and I'm happy to be a tiny part of that hippie legacy.
this was my first show and the ocelot peak is exactly where I got it and didn't look back. 47 down now..really hope to see you and everyone else real soon
What better f****** be and we will forgive your past sins yes you may still enter Heaven but you have to be polite you know say hi to the parents bring over some potato salad yes I Rastafari Tucson Arizona Sonoran Desert swim with a cactus float with a stone baking like a snake in the sun yes I yeah man keep on keeping on Pisces as a lot light the light is growing more ocelot now yeah felines in the tree lines
Wasnt at this show, but hopin to catch some of the west coast shows, they sound great so far either way , however the answer to your question about dancing/partying in the pouring rain, is not limited to Phish. Dont forget, regardless of whether most new Phish fans ever saw The Grateful Dead or not, much of the vibe of a Phish show owes its "ancestry" to GD and the Deadheads that love Phish too! Can recall lots of wet , hot , dirty, muddy, AWESOME Dead shows!! This is just a continuation of that!
Even with the cancelled second set friday night and getting soaked to the bone in the rain on sunday, I have absolutely no complaints about last weekend. Best shows I've seen since '98. What other band's fans are loyal/stupid enough to rock out in the middle of a torrential downpour? I was pretty much inhaling water and barely able to keep my eyes open at the height of it. Don't care... Phish.
7:44ish ocelot reaches some nice peaks but I love this pairing with light its very reminisentt of the dead.....use to be they were trying to shake that label but boy oh boy am i glad they evolved ....learn, love and grow!!!!
Topher aka CK5 you the lights going off during light !...Happy birthday to the Dude who filled in on the lights only to see that that was where he was meant to be.... You paint sound with light to our eyes great delight...
I wish when they showed these vids they would always show the view from afar. And then have a corner box/screen showing the guys up close, transferring from member to member like it does. I don't like how it is constantly changing views, its annoying. Plus with one constant view from afar you can see the lights better and it's easier to imagine/pretend you're actually there. Which isn't super hard if you're watching on a 10' projector screen with booming surround sound.
Discipline tease at 15:15 (from the end part of the song, not the beginning. Maybe unintentional but also I don't doubt that King Crimson is Trey's shit)
What's up with the deluge jumping venues following youz guys across the U.S.? Interesting. Maybe you aught to suggest bringing rain gear to the rest of the shows on the tour considering. Oh the Sunset. Go Team. Light speed.
Such a great jam. My brother's band did a cover of this at their Halloween show. Check them out: facebook.com/surpriseattackdc/videos/vb.19219582682/10154212413137683/?type=2&theater

i continue to be in awe of Mike. he led most of the weekend and dropped bomb after bomb.

Reminds me of “Tennessee Jed”.
wow. loved that moment where the ad for mens socks that look like they were made for girls in elementary school...severed the jam.
