I have to say that I haven’t had this much fun at the movies in ages !!!! Such a blast too see this on a big screen i can’t wait to see it again
Have to agree.. I don't think I've had a "how did they do that" moment in the cinema for the last 20 years
Exactly it's amazing to get away from the cgi garbage for years!!!
Because they were filming horrible woke superheroe cgi movies for ages and finally we got some proper action fun movie like we used to.
@@Nick-rr3pv exactly and we been feed so much with the CGI garbage over the years that it's becoming more depressing
I walked out of this film completely shocked yet pleased because this blockbuster delivers some of the best action scenes maybe ever. Cruise and Kosinski could've easily opted for CGI, but if Cruise is crazy enough to hold his breath underwater for 6 minutes he's crazy enough to actually fly a fighter jet and train everyone else to do it.
Your tax money at work. Just saying what the US charged the production was pathetic. Notice how they never name the enemy. Love Hollyweird. Good movie, but we paid for it.
@@jaytrock3217 ye well I think its a quite patriotic movie that shows the US military in a very good light. I know many kids will grow up seeing that movie all around the world and think US fighter pilots are the most awesome people on the planet. I think Tom cruise choose to not name the enemy to stop it from being political and for the simple fact that the US isn’t currently in any war that would have pilots fighting like that. I do respect that even tough it meant making a enemy of the Chinese government Tom cruise choose to show the Taiwan flag in many scenes as well as keeping it on his jacket. In the initial trailer for the movie the production team had switched out the Taiwan flag but which I think Tom cruise wasn’t to happy with and requested it to be added back in the final release. I remember being a bit upset that they would remove it but was shocked in theatre to see it back on his jacket and being shown in a couple scenes.
@@warframeees8013 What was your MOS?
@@jaytrock3217 You referring to military occupation specialty code? Or what do you mean by MOS?
@@warframeees8013 Yes, Since you didn't answer. I know the answer. Bye.
I saw this on IMAX on Friday and was hands down best film i've seen in probably a decade. I was jolting in my seat as the jets were cutting back and forth. Such a n amazing fun experience and a major breath of fresh air. So tired of CGI. Bravo to this whole team!
Wow
This was, without a doubt, the best movie I have seen in years. It's fun, it's breath-taking, it's nail-biting, it's everything a good action movie should be. It turns out the best way to take an 80s institution like Top Gun into the 21st century is to change very little. They knew what made the original film awesome and boy did they ever run with it.
Producers, pay attention. It's the practical way, or the highway. This movie is a return to the true art of filmmaking.
Yeah, like crashing a f a 18 or launch rocket at airfield
@@godsaveve Well i could have been all CGI, they are going to crash an 80 Million plane, but you seem to be looking for a fight :P
every movie is 250m blockbuster or the highway
highway to the danger zone
You can thank Jerry Bruckheimer. He helps produce these films.
That scene with the dark star taking the top off the building wasn’t planned and they kept it in! So cool!!!!
That plane was CGI...so, yeah Nop.
@@Rogge73 Not really, they made a prototype of the darkstar for the movie but yeah 70% of the scenes with darkstar is CGI'd
If there’s any film this year that deserves to hit a billion it’s absolutely this one. Not some lazy joke-riddled CGI fest MCU Crap that has infested the film landscape over the last several years. This is the film we need
I think there are many films that deserve such numbers, but fortunately/unfortunately it's the average movie goers who determine the outcome.
I agree, this movie deserves all the money and awards. Its better than anything I've seen recently. But to call one of the most successful movie franchises lazy? Hundreds, maybe thousands of employees work hard to bring those movies to life. And the people love if, no matter how much you choose to hate.
I know, that there's a very important factor: - makers want to feed their siblings. I want really know why this movie had to made?
Is this a preparation before to attacking to some other country, again, again, again and again?
I bet, that US governement spent vast amounts of money to this movie to bring fucking American democracy for innocent people who doesn't love money-making...?
what movie did you watch? I writing and plot line here shit and they used the crap out of CGI
@@justinsmith3383 was waiting for someone to disregard this movie to "seem cool". I doubt you employ even a fraction of their dedication in your own life.
I was smiling , being serious from the emotional scenes , and by the movie ended , giddy with excitement and the pure joy of seeing everything unfold on screen !. Just pure action movie entertainment!
For real, I know some will get upset by this but I think it’s even way better than the first movie and I rewatched the first movie again just before going to see the sequel. The emotional scenes, the actors, the action scenes. In every way it’s way beyond any military film I’ve ever seen.
For anyone who hasn’t seen this movie yet, please get to your local theaters and go enjoy this action packed story with a heart at the center of it! It’s just fantastic all the way thru! Go see it, it’s how a sequel is done right! Tom Cruise the director the editing the action the emotion this film evokes for a audience just delivers! Best movie 🎥 of the year! It needs to be up for multiple awards come Oscar time! 10/10
And 30 years from now:
TOP GUN: ROOSTER
I have read that he’d rather stay on the ground during an interview. However, Glen Powell did get his pilot license.
It’s very rare that a film gets to give me the kinda cinematic experience like this film did.
Yes! It’s meant to be on the big silver screen with and audience such a exhilarating experience!
Brought me right back to the 80s. Damn entertaining, and fun to watch. That’s what ACTION movies should be all about. Leave the messages to theater and other genres. Thanks Tom!
Did we watch the same movie? 😂 There were plenty of messages in Top Gun: Maverick!
@@fabplays6559 Nah, felt like normal. There were little to no messages, nothing too forced but everything seems natural. Nothing wrong with messages as long as they make sense, and are fully integrated in the storytelling
7:06 Man, that is an ALL-TIME movie moment right there. Everyone in my theater was doing a mix of cheering or just laughing their asses off in pure awe.
The movie was way greater than what I could have expected! Go see it on the biggest screen you can!
Exactly! My best friend went with me to see it on IMAX for the preview and then went to days later to watch it on a “regular” screen. It really does depend on your budget but if you can budget for the IMAX, budget for the IMAX. Or 4DX if it’s in your town. It’s worth giving it up a few Starbucks cappuccinos for this thrill ride.
I love so much that the same guy who directed Tron: Legacy is doing such amazing work here with this movie.
Such an underrated movie. And the score is probably in my top 10 of the decade.
Tron Legacy doesn't get enough love
Absolutely agree Tron Legacy should have been the start of a franchise loved it rewatch it occasionally as a treat
SO GLAD TO SEE ANOTHER TRON FAN IN THE COMMENTS!! TRON LIVESSS
I gotta admire Tom's dedication for physical workout/training to make this movie memorable and enjoyable.
I knew something was off when I watched this in the Cinema. The plane and flight felt too real to be CGI. This movie was truly incredible
Love the realistic action scenes in this movie! Everyone did a fantastic job!
This movie is definitely one to watch on the big screen!
I saw something written that really caught my eye; much is made about method actors like Daniel Day Lewis, but how is Tom Cruise any different, he puts just as much effort to entertain, more so than any other action actor out there. You have to love the dedication he has for his craft. Hopefully I get some free time to see this on the big screen. [Edit: So, I got to see it. Fun film, but the parts outside the planes are boring and cheesy, wish the writers and director had leaned into a wink-wink attitude for it all. Ah well. The final half an hour are well worth the ticket price, some of the best dogfighting action put to film. If I had to rate it, it's be 6.7/10.]
Exactly. Tom Cruise is in it to entertain and he is miles ahead of anyone else. Probably the greatest entertainer of our generation. I just love watching compilations of his character in Tropic Thunder! 😂 😂
@@tertiusgous8348 Dunno if I'll call him the greatest[I hate absolutes], but he does work quite hard to get the best possible effect out of his craft. Only a few other people are out there who share his zeal, especially in Hollywood. Other than him, Keanu Reeves stands out as a dedicated performer; Cruise aims for daredevilry while Reeves aims for technical prowess, both equally fun to watch.
His role in Tropic Thunder is absolutely iconic, which is saying something when the whole cast is full of quotable, insane characters. That movie is one of my favourite comedies ever.
In terms of large scale action movies, no one does it better than Tom Cruise. It's a fact.
Just got back from seeing it and finally get to catch up on all the videos about it haha! Fun blockbuster, great to see real jets, fantastically visceral action you won't find anywhere else, kind of a bad movie, juvenile dialogue, and unnecessary vanity project, still worth the ticket.
Hmm I wouldn't rate it that low, I like the story portrayed too, it's not all about the jets. For me it was a definite 9/10.
No Way Home, Infinity War, and Endgame gave me an incredible cinematic experience
But Top Gun Maverick was on another level
Marvel is a bunch of bullocks cgi crapfest that don't deserve to be mentioned here.
Well it’s basically Tom who directed the movie… this shows you how dedicated to his craft that man is. Amazing movie and great job from the cast and crew!
TRON: Legacy, Oblivion & Top Gun: Maverick? That’s a stellar filmography 🙌🏼
It's incredible to see the level of dedication from the cast and crew on this film. Absolutely well deserved success!
Give this man the Rogue Squadron movie!!!
10/10 movie. Had no time to think about plot holes and far... couldn't feel any cliché's it's a flawless in every aspect. Pure enjoy from start to end.
Nothing is going to top this ever... Tom Cruise is just that much unique..
I don't know if this could be a spoiler, if so stop reading my comment....
I loved watching inside the F-14 Tomcat cockpit: its '80s tech, all those analog gauges, the monochrome radar turning on at the last moment, and even the variable wing geometry slowly taking the correct shape mid-flight. Everything merged to form a beautiful anachronism, something out of time and timeless at the same time. It made me shed a tear of joy. It was Beautiful.
I see many people saying, "...best movie I've seen in years." I think we're all afraid to set aside our favorites of the past for one we just saw. But I have to say...this may be the best movie I've seen...EVER! With everything that went into making it and how the final product turned out, I just can't think of a movie I enjoyed more. And I've only watched it on my TV. I am going to see it again on the big screen.
This was such an awesome movie, absolutely nailed the experience expected from the first top gun's (at the time...and even now) legendary flight sequences
Kudos to Tom & production crew for working with navy using real jets. Saw film at biggest IMAX in the OC.
This is the only movie I've seen in theaters more than once in my entire life. It is amazing 👏.
I saw Maverick in 4DX and the movement, with the elemental addons raised the film to a whole new level! This is how a movie is made! Thank you Tom and his crew for an exhilarating and soaring Mach 10 experience! 10/10!
I just realized one thing, the way I saw the casts of the first Top Gun movie will be the way my children would see to the casts of Top Gun: Maverick. The way I saw Top Gun (1986), it was an instant cult classic, and seeing the way Top Gun: Maverick was promoted now, it may also be seen as another cult classic for the years to come.
It's pretty impressive to think that the pilots in front and the actors in the back seats of the Hornets were actually flying on real missions (those missions being to simulate actual Top Gun flight training) and had to handle all the choreography and cinematography themselves. I'm sure they had the time of their lives but it was most definitely REAL WORK for them, too.
Great flick. Will say, Miles, in a controlled stall nobody "turns the engine off", rather the plane, thru maneuvering, looses "lift" and spirals down. Anyway. Excellent movie.
No one can replace Tom Cruiser in Top Gun movie and no one can be as good as him, period. He's made for this movie
Lord, as cool as the Super Hornet is, it's still no Tomcat. Hornet's great, but Tomcat is pure Hollwood with a tailhook.
spoiler...
They use one in the new movie
@@Ickabodxx I feel the same way, so this makes me happy.
amazing cinema experience! I watched it on day 2 with my son and then again this past weekend with my wife and son. My wife, who normally doesn't like American movies, was speechless!
6:41 my experience with filming was only for films and skits for highschool but that line rings true. Sometimes it's the fails that work best in the film
incredible very impressed with the amount of work that went into this
The only way to describe this movie after seeing it in 4D is …… BADASS !!!!!
Genuinely one of the greatest cinematic experiences I've ever had
I love the Movie so much! It gives so much drama, excitement and suspense to my feelings. I think Tom is One Big Talented Person..a Unique Man with Awesome Talents, Style, Charisma and Speed!!! If I will describe Him...I’ll call Him A SUPERMAN. Hope he could be given the chance to Play in the Movie “As Superman” one day!!! Kudos Tom!!! You are REALLY A “TOPGUN” MAN!!! Congrats! Fantastic Job!!! 🍾🎊🎉👍😇🙏😀
From what I have read he was given the chance to play Iron Man but he turned it down. Remember he avoids CGI as much as possible in
his movies.
Had high expectations when going to see it, and I was blown away after I saw it.
Some how, the movie lives up to the hype.
Now, in 4D, people can experience getting hot coffe on their laps when Maverick flys by...
Maverick!!!
Everyone go watch this movie in theaters it's worth it
I think they managed this in the current Hollywood landscape:
a) because the OG did it (proven results exist and its doable).
b) because Tom Cruise handled the training and pushed it himself.
c) actor and crew willingness.
If you're a studio and Tom Cruise insists? With his practical training? You have barely any choice.
Maverick was hands down the best movie I've ever seen in over 10 years. No movie can claim to have had me on the edge of my cinema seat. Maverick did... for the whole freaking climax of the film. Well done.
F-14 is still the best looking jet fighter ever.
Still in love with the old lady! ❤️
I have to disagree the the F-14 is a beautiful woman but the F-22 is the very definition of dream ride.
I personally love the Rafale, its lines are really clean.
Such an iconic bird. Though tbh the hardest part of the third act was seeing those Felons blow up. Sukhoi sure does know how to make a pretty jet.
I'll take the SR-71, Su-37, F-22, or YF-23 in the aesthetics department.
Best Action Sequel Since T2. Obviously they weren't acting, they were living! And also it doesn't get any more realistic & faithful
For me it's probably the best legacy sequel since Mad Max: Fury Road.
In both cases I thought the decade gaps were just too long, and times had changed too much. And in both cases they blew me away with their action styles and practical effects. They are also similar in their storytelling. Instead of trying to get cute with the franchise, they keep it simple in a throwback sort of way.
the movie was amazing
Fury Road level
Amazing movie. And if you watch it in 4DX it takes it to another level.
The best movie in many years. A nice big screen experience.
Saw it in 4dx! Absolutely immersive!
This is the best action film of the past 20 years.
Say what you like about Tom cruise,he does put 110% into his films.
This is his best film to date.
I’ve seen only 2 films in theatre in last 36 years. TopGun 25 times. TopGunMaverick only 8 times… cause the screen in the town I was in was not imax. Both need to be watched on IMAX. Fantastic movies.
Tom legit just enjoying life through his movies
All the hard work paid off big time.
Refreshing, enjoyed all of this movie. Even more so knowing the amount of work and training that went in. 👍
The full length making of this film will be epic!
One of the greatest films made in the last 20 + years
I didn't expect this move to be as good as it was. I really loved it and I LOVE the original top gun.
I saw this movie a total of three times but by far my time seeing it was the second time. This because the theater I went has what is call DBOX seats these seats move and have vibration which you can control how much you want of the vibration plus they are heated. So when the planes take off from the ship you feel the drop and all the turns by far one of my best times at the movies.
I like that they drew from Tom Cruise's experiences as a pilot for this film.
Woulda been a very different movie if they had to draw from Harrison Ford's experiences as a pilot.
Saw this in I Max and it is just beyond the reall! Just remember there are real guys out there that are ready. willing and able to do this chit to save all of our bacon. They live and breath this chit to protect all of us. To them we all owe our everything, every day!
It wasn't quite my favorite movie of the year but I don't think I've seen a better MADE movie in a decade. The work that went into pulling this film off is astounding, the entire cast and crew need Oscars for what they've done here. Action design, cinematography, stunt teams, it was all just next level and I don't see it being topped for a long time
Tom Cruise is Maverick! That is why he can pull this off so well!
TOM is a FUCKING "BOSS" period, and I think he was able to PAY his WAY, TO ACTUALLY PURCHASE his OWN FIGHTER JET, on the LOW.
P-51, not fighter jet.
Bob was my favourite character 🤣
I watch top gun maverick 2 times already but Sunday I went to BFI IMAX Charlie Chaplin Waterloo the bigger screen in UK to celebrate Tom Cruise birthday 🎂 Damn it’s was a breathtaking the screen and the sound this movie is for big screen no doubt about it.
The footage is so good, that the excitement it creates made me watched the original, made want to watch Maverick ( going this week for sure) and is making feel like playing Ace Combat or a Top Gun game.
I saw it and i was shocked how good a 2022 movie could get.
I hope they release more behind the scenes, in cockpit raw footage once the films off the silver screen. They could even release it as a cinema experience. I know id pay to watch it, honestly even if the lighting is off etc, just to see more flight footage and even hear the real life comments from the actors would be awesome!
Just AMAZING!! Saw the movie twice in IMAX. Best movie I have ever seen.
Tom cruise is a legend. How is he younger looking in this movie than 40 years ago?
As tom flew a helicopter by himself in mi6 i thought he flew the f18 hornet by himself earlier as he is an accomplished pilot and flies some jet powered planes as well...though these jets were flown by top gun pilots but still tom facing all those Gs kudos to the legendary Tom Cruise.
The Navy would not let him fly their 400 million dollar plane. He did ask apparently.
It kicks ass ! One of the best Movies 2022...enjoyed it.
Veeeery few movies kick butt from the very beginning to the end, this one does! (and then some)
Seen it three times already and might go for a fourth. Best movie I've seen in a long long time.
Its good and exceptional quality of film making. Kudos to all the people involved in this film. You all did an amazing job. You took it a notch higher.
Yo Joe did that Mad World ad for GoW? I still remember it so well!
Saw it 2x already, gonna go see it for the 3rd.
old guys: yay, maverick, jennifer, nostalgia
new guys: holy crap it feels like I'm in a jet right now
I saw this movie and it really was badass
Definitely worth the watch. I was worried they’d screw it up like they unfortunately do every sequel
To me by far one of the best movies period.
If I have to pay for a full priced ticket to see all the behind-the-scenes, bloopers, and B-roll scenes, I'd gladly do so.
It is incredible. Absolutely incredible. Tomorrow is #10. Huge TG fan.
So when can we expect a Days of Thunder sequel?!
As one Navy aggressor pilot (NFWS) says, they are grunting too much, if you are a recent grad from Topgun, you just spent 12 weeks, 60 flights pulling 5-8.5 g's is normal everyday thing, so is low level flying, that pull up followed by an inverted drop into the canyon is part of low level flying.
Its a movie not a documentary..
Yup...a cinematic great Movie!!, not documentary. Sucks when all these pilots complain that not all the details were real..
Pogo armchair pilot.. he a faker. Not real
BS. First, the characters are pulling more than that in the movie, at least 9G, thats the whole point of the plot. Second, here is a real video of real pilot at 9G. Does he look normal to you? ruclips.net/video/_0nbRYIBVDQ/видео.html
great job everybody love this movie. highly dout we are going to get another one this for years. again grat job.
3:38 Too bad we never got to see that scene in the theather. I'm still flabbergasted at the amount of raw power coming from those AB's.
STRAP YOURSELF IN AND FEEL THE G'S
One of the best movies I’ve ever watched… Period!!
My word, 15 months of trial and error so that they can figure out the place to have the camera mounted on the plane where it would not be detrimental to the actors and the aircraft
Damn, now that's some commitment right there!
Leave it to Tom cruise to keep brining his A game when it comes to a top tier practical block buster movie
This movie feels like a blast from the past lmao. And mand those sounds in the cinema, so loud lmao
Recent Marvel flicks really made excessive use of CG, especially computer-generated backgrounds filmed via greenscreen. They also did that in the past, but used more sparingly. In the new Spiderman, it almost took me out of the movie, how cheap it looked in certain scenes. Compared to this, recent Tom Cruise and Nolan movies really showed me how big-budget movies can look if the passion is there.
well, Marvel movies are comic book adaptations
it's alright they look the way they look
@@dimitreze I agree with you on that. With Marvel movies it's way, way more acceptable to have so much CGI since they are literally comic books come to life (well more or less) and it kinda checks out with those movies and DC movies etc. I feel like Shang Chi had a great combination of practical and CGI (and wire work in spots) that felt perfect to me. But then MoM came out and was like, nope CGI extravaganza! lol Again, that's fine because of the type of movies they are. But sometimes it's just a bit much really.
@@LordLOC I also agree. I prefer Marvel movies more like Winter Soldier than the rest.
Awesome
