    Everyone can be defeated. Simone isn't the only one who can do difficult and clean routines. All of these gymnasts are amazing in their own right. Simone's consistency, however is a whole new level. The past few years we have not really seen any gymnasts that can match her consistency. The rivalries before 2012 were insane!

      @@Gymnastly I appreciate your channel very much and the hard work you put into this. To be fair to the gymnasts who did beat Simone, I think it only fair that you go back and include them in an updated video. Anything else looks biased and slights the gymnasts who actually made the achievement. Its like how US ice skating always leaves out Debbie Thomas as a medalist because she didn't bring home gold, but forget there are only a handful of American skaters who actually have a medal at all! Or how Dianne Durham's name is left out despite the gymnasts being one of the first gymnasts to medal at a world cup event, but people always bring up Kathy Rigby who didn't medal at all!

    • @figureskating2724
      @figureskating2724 4 года назад +3

      We have more respect for the gymnasts that beat her in the AA. It's too hard for a gymnast to dominate in all of the events. Even in figure skating, it is common for skaters to have difficulty with one of the 6 different jumps. You have to be amazing to be dominant in every single apparatus especially for men since there are six apparatuses. Has that ever happen in one Worlds or any Olympics that one gymnast won the AA and all of the event finals? Team doesn't count because you have to rely on others. We just wanted to focus on what the individual gymnast can control. We don't know the history of gymnastics, but has that ever happened?

      @andreataylor4483 3 года назад +6

      There was way more excitement in the 90s, when there was SOOO much world competition. Romania, Russia and China were all so strong. Simone doesn't have much competition. Im not taking away from her talents and accomplishments, but it would be so insanely interesting to see Biles compete against the likes of Shannon Miller and Svetlanka Khorkina back in 96 when artistry and things like pointed toes and lines were still such a huge part of the scoring. Biles severely lacks balletic grace and artistry. But it's the sport changing really. Difficulty is now rewarding, even if you fall. You can fall of the beam and still win gold, because its all about attempting hard tricks. I miss the when the focus was on tecninique and clean routines. But nevertheless, Biles is great.

      People said that about 2021 and Tokyo. Look who won that. Just because she's the G.O.A.T doesn't mean she can't be beaten. Michael Jordan, Tim Brady, and other G.O.A.T have been defeated at some point. Yes, when Simone is strong and healthy, mentally and physically, she can be unbeatable. But like any sport it's not always a given.

  • @cleogyrl
    @cleogyrl 3 года назад +15

    It really should be a given that the specialists dominate the event finals. If you focus on just one or two events, you'd better be beating the all-arounders in those event finals. The fact that Simone as a dominant all-arounder is still a major hurdle for the specialists in individual events is pretty remarkable! Give them their credit for beating her, but it is to her credit that this even has to be acknowledged at all.
    Also, regarding the Biles-Ohashi comparison- the Simone that came out in 2013 is not the same Simone we've seen in the following years (in skill, execution and confidence). Simone as she is now has never been beaten by Katelyn, there is no way to say with authority that Katelyn would definitely still beat Simone now if she hadn't gotten injured. They've been playing on different fields for a few years now, and college gymnastics does not match up to the international playing field.
    Right now, Simone is dominating as an all-around gymnast against all the other amazing talent around the world; Katelyn is great, but what makes people so sure that Simone wouldn't have beaten Katelyn too?

When you start comparing people it opens the flood gates for people to diminish someone's accomplishments. Does it really matter who be who? Answer : At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she added to her record four gold medals (in individual compound, floor, vault and team) and a bronze medal on beam. Thus, she became the first gymnast, AFTER the Romanian Ecaterina Szabó, to win four gold medals at a single edition of the Olympic Games. 2020 Olympics - Simone Biles, beam, bronze.

    • @Gymnastly

      @@Gymnastly Thanks for the heads-up and response. The russians pre-1980s were so dominant that we didn't know if they ever did this. We know Nadia hadn't, but was so amazing back in the 1976. She was good on bars and beam if we remember correctly. The Romanians were generally good at the beam. It is cool though to beat Simone at anything because she is so good on everything, but bars. She is still great at that too.

      @@Gymnastly We saw that and posters remarked on it, too! Gymnastics is about perfection. Kolbert, Comaneci, Boyenskiya, and many others all have lost medals because they lacked clean performance! Olga broke down and cried because of her mistake! Fifty years later, things still haven't changed! I don't mind people having favorite gymnasts. What I do mind is the disrespect this video showed towards others because you had a bias! What you did wasn't right and was unsportsmanlike. When Olga and Svetlana threw wobbles because they didn't win, people took it for the tantrums they were! Korkina walking away after her mistakes wasn't elegant and taught gymnasts nothing about being brave in adversity! In reality of the eight to ten finalists in a competition, the MAJORITY are going to lose and never get a medal because they turned in poor performances or their skills were not done enough! Simone Biles is no exception! PS I notice you didn't show much mercy when Gabby Douglas made mistake on bars and didn't medal, why does Simone get special treatment? Be fair! Many impressionable young people watch this channel and how you deal with issues is how they will turn around and deal with others. What you did well is admit your mistake. I admire that in people! I think that more deductions should be given for out of bounds, Simone can hit big moves but she often goes out of bounds, hops, steps etc. Its certainly not a "polished routine". She is by far the most talented to perform harder routines, but let's be honest, she may as well have joined Mens tumbling as opposed to a synced graceful floor routine.

    • @Kate-yx2rm
      @Kate-yx2rm 4 года назад +3

      @QPHashSS77 Female gymnasts are meant to be graceful and polished....thats why its called Artistic Gymnastics. Nowhere did I say I expected cookie cutter or perfect everytime...perhaps read the comment again. I said there should be higher deductions. However, isnt the goal of a gymnast to perform a perfect routine? I dont imagine they go out there and say "perhaps I'll try to be half assed today". Deductions should be higher for the infractions I mentioned...for everyone. Simone tumbles...like the males. Yes, she is amazing, but, she is unpolished and ungraceful right now. If she is going to throw bigger skills, she should learn how to control them so she doesnt go flying out of bounds. She only wins because she has bigger skills but the rest of her routine it's not up to par most of the time.

    For me and many Europeans, the strongest and most successful gymnast is the gymnast with the most gold medals at the Olympics! How many Olympics did Simone Biles win? Answer : At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she added to her record four gold medals (in individual compound, floor, vault and team) and a bronze medal on beam. Thus, she became the first gymnast, AFTER the Romanian Ecaterina Szabó, to win four gold medals at a single edition of the Olympic Games. 2020 Olympics - Simone Biles, beam, bronze. So , I cannot consider that Simone Biles is the greatest gymnast of all time and the most titled!
