    if the triangle is not labeled u can write a or b first right?

    • @CSECMathematics

      If not labelled you can use what you wan't just make sure that the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other two sides

    why couldnt you use Tan here?

    • @CSECMathematics
      @CSECMathematics  6 лет назад +4

      You can only use the trig ratios sin, cos and tan if the triangle is a right angled triangle and they provided use with an angle.

      Remember the following:
      1. Only use sin, cos and tan when the triangle is a right angled triangle and they provide us with an angle.
      2. Use the cosine rule when they give you all three sides only OR when they give use an angle and the lengths on either side of the angle. The cosine rule applies to triangles which are NOT right angled.
      3. Use the sine rule when they give use two sides and an angle opposite one of the sides OR two angles and a side opposite one of the angles. The sine rule applies to triangles which are NOT right angled.
