Great template, etc thanks for sharing :-) Your video did put me off that machine because the ventilation, at the front, doesn't really exist because the cover can't come down due to the clamps holding the wood. I'd never considered that before
They really showed off on some creative mojo when they created this table! I only wish for better software features now. :) xTool Creative Space's programming is not as efficient as it could be, and lacks fine control over job sequences like Lightburn has.
Great video! Thank you. :) One suggestion? Maybe have it carve out a bit of the square and circle so you can just align with the cut vs the line on your template? Though I guess this would also change the offset...
Had it for a couple days now. Lucked out software is similar to buddy’s 30 watt. Marked a piece of stainless. Took a little longer, 15 sec as Apposed to a second. Still playin with cycle times. Guessing it will do inconel and other exotic materials just as well
Hey Sam, great vid. I did buy the template pack, working with them now. I see V2 in the file name for the coaster project and the panel dimensions are different from this video, namely the material size is 399mm x 115mm in your XCS v2 file, and in this video you show the material size at 360mm x 110mm. Is there a reason you changed this in version 2 file? I'm laser cutting these pieces out of birch ply today...thanks!
I attempted to make the coaster template, but something went wrong. The template that I produced was significantly different than the one you demonstrated. I think I may have changed the file settings. How do I get the original template creator file back?
Very cool, I am still waiting for some more cnc videos from you. I am looking at getting a 20w diode laser also. My 14 yr old son has made some projects on a laser at school, and would like to keep making things for friends and family. I am torn between the xtool d1 and the sculpfun s30. For the same cost as the xtool, I can get a much larger work area on the sculpfun Keep putting out the gr3at content
That would be a tough choice just starting out. I will say that the xTool ecosystem is one of the best in the market right now. Both for accessories, support and also in community support from the large number of customers they have. I would only do a larger work area if it's really really important. Also bear in mind the wattage of the laser head. I'd take a small 20w over a large 10w any day.
Hey Samcraft my daughter has a question for you. Shes enjoying the F1 tool and wants to buy one. She was wondering with the slide unit could you build her a template to make as many wooden nickels and as possible per run? so she can mass design and produce them.
Hello, nice video! I have questions about the slide extension: Do I have to carry out the calibration every time the extension is installed and I use the F1 without it? and my 2nd question! If there are, for example, 4 coasters in the xcs, do I have to align them exactly and then measure exactly this distance on the extension and then align them? Sorry, I'm a beginner with the F1. best regards from Dortmund/Germany
Hi, Sam i am try to do buy one of the fiber laser, i know you are profesional in this aspect, with one do you recommend ? I want to expend the money but in something good, any advice please…. For engrave with great quality..
Sam - do you feel that the slide "slows down" the speed of this being a galvo by setting the laser stationary and moving the slide/pieces? Do you think doing 3 coasters without the slide would be quicker than 3 on the slide? Seems like it would be?
How thick of a material can you engrave on? For example, my wife has a table piece that she would like wording engraved on. Flipped on its side to engrave the correct location the piece would be approx 6 inches tall.
You are so easy to watch and listen to. You explain things perfectly. I have a question. If I want to primarily be engraving on bamboo or wooden coasters and metal lids for candles, do you think this is a good choice for me? I'm also looking at the new S1. I understand there is a big difference in workspace but I feel this one will work good too. Could you please advise me on this? Thanks in advance!
Both machines should work fine for those materials. The plus of the F1 is it will be faster, but the S1 is more capable from a business aspect with the larger size and other features.
awesome video. I am currently using the D1 pro 20 W and have been making slate coasters. I amd doing more images of like animals and people and it takes about 15 to 18 minutes each and I have had someone reach out and want a large batch of coasters like 300 to start with. Is the F1 that much faster? What would you estimate the time on the F1 if it takes 15 minutes on the 20W pro? Thanks
Great video! I had a question on the finishing of the slate coaster. I have been using rustoleum matre clear coat. I want start selling them but I am not sure if it is texhnically food safe to use that. Is there a food safe way to finish and protect these costers or does it not matter what you use.
I do not put anything on my coasters. I engrave them, wipe them off, and send them out the door! I've sold thousands this way and never had a complaint or issue. If sealed, the coaster will not absorb anything like a coaster should. If engraved correctly, the design will not fade or lessen over time.
Okay sam, what I don't get is why spend so much on independent laser systems when you could far more easily batch out probably ten times more if you wired a laser module up to one of the larger cncs?
Is there a reason they all couldn’t be put closer together and more to the left? I feel all 4 coasters should still fit nicely in that base then. Especially since you are not going all the way to the edge, so they can be placed really close. Thanks!
No, most coasters are 10cm, 100mm the bed is only 360mm missing 40% of the forth coaster. Now if you where only engraving a small spot of the coaster then doable. But not with a large design.
These three took right at 49 minutes to run. Colorizing the slate takes a lot longer than just running the IR laser to do the light gray engraving only.
So... I'm officially blaming you for there being an f1 in my workshop now! Learning curve is steep but not too bad, the xcs isnt bad but I think I'll be seeing how lightburn gets on with the f1
:) Happy to help! Hahaha... I find XCS very limiting and frustrating. I've not (yet) gone down the road of Lightburn with the F1 and P2, but will be soon. Just to see what options I have.
@@Samcraftcom I think we are all so blessed by lightburn everything else feels like a massive step back, that said the only things lightburn doesn't do is the autofocus and the outline preview from what I have seen, not played with the rotary or moving bed yet as they haven't arrived

That table xtool made is awesome. I wish mine had that. The color is still amazing.

So how do you get your coaster projects that are saved as an .xcs file imported into the template that is an .xcs file?
The filter system works good sucking that in , till it gets to the end fat from the machine and u can see it blowing out
Great video! Thank you. :) One suggestion? Maybe have it carve out a bit of the square and circle so you can just align with the cut vs the line on your template? Though I guess this would also change the offset...
I was wondering the same…why not cut completely thru the wooden template….not just score it?

Very useful tool. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Can the information in this video also be applied to the F1 Ultra?

Wow I just upgraded my d1 pro to 20 watts and saw the F1. I want to return it and replace it. Thanks for your video.

So when would you choose to use the ComMarker B4 Fiber Laser versus the XTOOL?
Just bought D1Pro bundle through your link so you can get the commission as thanks for all the helpful videos. 😊
Awesome! Thank you!

Damn I wish I could afford one of these bad ass machines!
Job well done. It's great to see your progress and growth brother.

Where can I find the Sasquatch files at?

How wide you can cut? in that case the wood wide side? I want to cut leather
Love the coasters thank you for sharing!
I bought your test files recently for the D1 Pro 10w and I'm wondering how long the last engraving took for comparison.
How long did it take for each coaster to engrave
@samcraft can you make a template for the S1 that holds 4 squared coasters. And one for 4 circular coasters as well? I would totally buy it!
I am actively working on just that thing for the S1! :)
Sam how can we purchase your coasters ?

What settings are you using ?
that's really cool Sam love the Bigfoot reference ....you've been making
idk if I've said that before but just wanted you to know 🤣💖
I don’t have a computer or an iPad. Will an iPhone operate this?
yup I phone, I pad or computer. Is really slick. i think for the phone its call Creative space mobile Green logo with black XTool
i believe before you can use wifi you have to have a computer to setup the machine to your network then you can find the F1 from within the app.
You retire the Ortur ?
I love it.
Hi Sam where do you get your slate coasters from please I'm in the uk 🇬🇧
Amazon :)
@Samcraftcom hi buddy did you not have trouble with rubber feet missing and breakages
That is really awesome and I take it your a Bigfoot fan! Nice!!!🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Have you tried numbers yet?
Hi Sam, I was wondering why you did not cut the coaster template on your CO2 laser?
It's always best to engrave your template on the machine you're going to us it on.
Why didn't you cut out with the F1? So you could just say the coaster in it instead of in top of it?
👍😃Danke für das Video.

Im planning on getting it to do engrave on demand at craft shows and such. While having a co2 at home to work on other products.
While CNCs have a larger footprint, they also move much slower than a laser. I don't recommend mixing the two together.
Is there a reason they all couldn’t be put closer together and more to the left? I feel all 4 coasters should still fit nicely in that base then. Especially since you are not going all the way to the edge, so they can be placed really close. Thanks!

@@seannorris3201 thanks, that makes sense. :)
Was there a reason why the laser shield was not lower to the wood?
It will hit the thumbscrews on the table clamps.
How long did the job take? Great video fyi!
These three took right at 49 minutes to run. Colorizing the slate takes a lot longer than just running the IR laser to do the light gray engraving only.
All these videos people are doing on this laser but not one has shown how it does with ceramic tiles/ coasters.

What about the focus/not focus video. Thought you’d add so you weren’t so “in focus”?
Feel free to experiment! I have not had any issues in clarity with the F1.
👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💖💖🙏🙏💖💖
if you have the p2 way not just batch engrave instead of using F1. Some say the F1 is better on coasters.
The engraving quality is better from the F1 on slate, in my opinion.
@Samcraftcom i did 4 coasters on my P2, had to take at least 35-45 min. I did one coaster on the F1 and it was done in less then a minute. So fast...
