Asante sana. I lived in Kile from 2012-15 Laikipia Gardens on Oloitoktok, not far from Valley Arcade. My wife is from there. I don't recognise many of the buildings but the infrastructure is well kept up. It was already good back then but the traffic looks much denser now. We'll leave Europe and retire in a couple of years in Ruiru which is better suited for us older folks. 😅
I started primary school in Nairobi - down by the airport in the 1950s. We lived in Kenton Camp - the married quarters. Looks like that has gone and this modern suburb has evolved. A sign of Kenya's growth. But the old corn fields are gone. Nice to see the river still passes by - we used to play in that.
No wonder the sewerage system & the water company cannot serve this estate adequately....... Because the area population has grown exponentially but the services provided have not changed with the times.
Oloitokotok is in Kileleshwa, you actually never left Kileleshwa. The upcoming construction you were asking about is mixed use apartments and shops. It’s called Covo.
Minute 4:56 - I stayed in this area for 2 months while visiting Nairobi. Very calm and people were very helpful. The clinic over there is very well run as well.
Ooh my God! Kileleshuwa has really changed! What?! I lived all my teen ages and my 20's in Kileleshuwa ( Othaya Road) and then Kilimani near Yaya Shopping Centre (at Chania Apartments). However, I can not recognise Kileleshuwa at all. Except the Police Station and some part of Othaya Street. Ooooh..... It looks a concretes jungle , lost its serenity and specious Family homes with private gardens and swimming pools. It is sad.
Yeah, it's really changed as a whole from Riara Road all the way to Riverside. I'm also born and raised until my 20s when I left for Rongai, and when I go back I always wonder where kids play
I lived as a kid on Makueni Road 1973 to 1976. Government houses with compound. Now the place is full of apartments. I can barely recognize the place now.
Nice video, but having so many tall buildings and single lane roads, congested compouds is evidence of failed planning. Emergencies are almost impossible to sort out in such an area
And some useless fellows are still living in a reversible state of mind .ati watu hawana future ohh everything is bad, economic is bad.people should learn to work and avoid politicians.
The problem is not narrow roads, it's too many private cars. Nairobi needs to focus on improving public transport. Especially we need bus lanes, so busses don't get stuck in traffic. If the busses are safe additionally, more people will take the bus, which is much more efficient and less polluting. "A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It's where the rich use public transportation."
I lived in Kileleshwa in 1973-1976...Thanks for the updated tour!
Kenya kileleshwa
Kileleshwa has changed a lot. It is no longer as prestigious as when we grew up. Watching from Switzerland. Keep up the good work Dolphine

I visited family living in Kileleshwa in the mid 90’s. I must say, I can never recall seeing a single high rise building. How times have changed

I concur . Right to proper abode has been abused in this country. Real should not have been prioritized either in the 2000s
Residences houses are many there and are nice looking

I lived in kileleshwa from 2013 to 2016. I barely recognize the places 😮

The Kileleshwa of Otoyo Obambla wa Vioja Mahakamani is long gone. People rarely boast about living in those areas.

U have a point that place is a clear indication kenya is real developing so fast
You cannot police people's thoughts, even a little baby in Kenya knows that the economy is in shambles.
@@berylotieno276poor people always think how stutions is bad and rich minds take advantage of that moment.
