I always thought, that the reason for Spongebob's parents being round and brown was because the're old and used up (because they're sponges and you see Spongebob several times being used as a kitchen sponge). If you use the same kichten sponge for about 50 years I think it's pretty plausible, that it'll change colour and shape over the decades

I thought that his parents were brown and round because, you know, they’re supposed to be kinda wrinkly and old. I mean, Spongebob is already an independent adult with his own job and home, so it’s also possibly that his parents could just be elderly at this point, or certainly close to it. That woould explain why their yellow skin with darken over time, and the shapes of their bodies would sag and wrinkle a bit. I mean, while his mother doesn’t look old, his dad already had glasses and has a grey mustache. That would also explain why his body shape is more round than his wife and his skin is darker.
It’s possible Mrs SquarePants just ages a bit slower than her husband

We were learning about punnet Squares today, and this episode came to mind. Thanks for teaching me this
When I was taking biology in middle school, they handed out these SpongeBob-themed worksheets, and one of them was based around genetics. The first scenario involved drawing up a hypothetical Punnett square for SpongeBob and SpongeSusie, a girl he apparently met at some sort of sponge dance, in order to determine whether their offspring would be square or round, given that the gene for being square is dominant, SpongeBob is heterozygous for his square shape, and SpongeSusie is round.
When we did this, I remember thinking that SpongeBob's parents were both round, which, if this were true, would make it biologically impossible for them to have a square child.

Hello Film Theory, I love and fear your channel, it's so good to not only learn new things but also get a good scare during the month of October, yes I do agree with you about sponge fish unable to raise their young fish in the wound but didn't you say in another video that SpongeBob could have been mutated to wear he is now, so is it possible that his parents were mutated before SpongeBob came into existence and were able to raise SpongeBob in the wound years after they were mutated, so they developed human like qualities like the TNMT.

Excuse you lol! I actually have a couple memories from in the womb-- I was very confused and felt very cramped as to what was happening-- and I remember being born. It's VERY rare for someone to remember being born. I remember it being dark and cramped. It was my first memory. I didn't know what was happening so I went back to sleep. The next time I "woke up" or consciously came to, I was confused again, and then I looked to my left and there was a bright light.
For the longest time, I thought it was the norm that everyone remembered being born until I talked to my family about it ; and none of them remember being born and all have memories from later on in life when they were kids as their first memory.

Or maybe all sponges are yellow and square, and they just become round and brown as they age, like wrinkling or getting grey hair. With the exception of grandpa squarepants (who we only see in imagination), all of the yellow square sponges are young. Or at least pictured young when we see them. And all of the brown sponges are old. It seems to be a pretty big coincidence for you to leave out. Especially since sponges in the real world do the exact same thing, they lose their vibrant colors as they age.
