When Cumberbatch started talking: wow that's the first time I've heard someone 'talking Australian' without horribly overdoing it and sounding like an unnatural stereotype. To my ears he just sounds 'normal'! (Cos most people do extremely broad accents not general ones.) When Trevor Noah said 'happy' that sounded far more NZ.
Hi Candice- Just a note- Lindy Chamberlain, played by Meryl Streep was in fact a Kiwi- That is why I think that Meryl, when studying Lindy, picked up on her trace of Kiwi accent
That makes so much sense! I did some research after filming this reaction video and of course found that Chamberlain sounded just like this. Meryl nailed her accent of course!
The Indian bloke (I'm terrible with names too!) in the movie Lion nailed it. As did Kate Winslet, in a couple of movies, the more recent one being The Dressmaker.
Oh yeah Dev Patel did a great job in Lion! And I loved Kate Winslet in The Dressmaker! Both awesome movies. Of course, they're both English (British) so they tend to have an easier time with the Aussie accent than most American actors.
There's a little trick that Aussies can use when doing a Kiwi accent and if you do this, you don't over cook the fact that there are no vowels in Kiwi English. All you do is speak in your normal Aussie accent but with your teeth clenched. It works every time!
You’ve just got to pause the video every now and then and chat about your observation. That’s what makes it a reaction video and not just commentary. Then A+ video. Source: I watch a lot of reaction videos lol
How much does the Australian accent change through out the country? I heard, many years ago, that depending on where in Australia you are g'day is said differently
It doesn't really change much based on city or state, it's more based on class. Aussie English comes in 3 main forms: Broad (Steve Erwin), general and cultivated (Cate Blanchet, sounds closest to British English). That being said, here in Melbourne, I can pick someone is from another state maybe 60% of the time, that's how little variation there is.
Here’s the link to Conan O’Brien learning Australian slang: ruclips.net/video/L94M4xQcPYk/видео.html Please do a reaction to it! It’s so funny! He’s a little creepy…. But hilarious.
I'm Canadian. Hate you (actually .... not...... I'm sorry..... see? .... pretty Canadian, eh?). By the way.... I was planning to visit Australia. Yet, after watching this video, I'm changing plans : I'm going to New Zealand instead (Lord of the Rings , baby). Happy now? Boom. Mike drop. (Canadian lameness is just our way of not making our crazy neighbours to the South too jealous of us. Had they known...Shhh , don't tell them...... .Hey ! Perhaps New Zealanders act the same way when it comes to Outs Trahlians. ).
god damn it, there is no single definition of what aussie accent supposed to sound like, there are 100's of variations throughout the country, hand downs there are native australians who speak just like the actors from clips you used for this video. Chill out
Ironically every single Aussie I've met (other than myself) has different opinions of all these different people. I've had some people say RDJ was spot on (not many) and I've had some say Benedict Cumberbatch was terrible (actually quite a lot). So 🤷... Although we can all agree Zac Efron was shit

Haha! Yes, Trevor Noah did sound very Kiwi with his version of an Aussie accent! 😂 And I thought Cumberbatch NAILED it!!
It's hilarious watching Americans trying to do our Aussie accent 🤣😂
I only use it on certain words.
That said, have you ever been Australian kissed?

It's like a French kiss...only down under.
Cumberbach was spot on!!!!
Kate Winslet = Perfect accent. Watch The Dressmaker. Brilliant
Seems, The Fifth Estate is the reason of reupload.:)
Correct! Thanks for watching again. New content will be coming later in the week!
Trevor did have a bit of a point...
most of the time Aussies sound happy about what they are saying. At least to me.
Zach Effron wasn't too bad. Benedict too. Meryl Streep is good too.

Do you think Mel Gibson does a good Australian accent? He's technically American, but he's lived in Australia long enough to get the accent right.
Zack Efron bailed it!
Nice
You don't know Fred Armisen 😭
Saturday night live
It was a good one!
Streep doing Lindy chamberlain doesn count cause she grew up in NZ and had weird bastardised accent.
