I think it's very interesting that you mention that you turned away for Christianity 15:43 and yet, in your films, you seem to be seeking what is True. I don't think I'm assuming too much in saying that. In my experience, that is not they normal path of someone who has, in your words, lost his faith. I've enjoyed all of your film that I've seen and look forward to seeing more.

Would you be so good as to cite for me examples of the evidence Murray uses here to support his conclusion, and to "destroy bad ideas "?
It's just that a logical argument requires evidence, but Murray seems to adduce no facts or data to substantiates his claims. There is little more here than vague, impressionistic assertions, most of which are either strawmen or ahistorical.

@Adam Jacobs Custard. Have you noticed that custard nowadays doesn't taste like it used to when you were a kid? Douglas didn't say a single word about the taste of custard in the interview. Perhaps Douglas doesn't eat custard and is completely in the dark about it. But it is far more likely that there is a well orchestrated propaganda campaign funded by dark money sourced from food industry multinationals. If Douglas were to start talking about the taste of custard, we might all realise that the food industry has been selling us crap for years and ruining our health.
Flower pots. I bought a new 30-litre plastic flower pot for my fig tree. Colour of terracotta to match the other pots that sit on my patio. I was disgusted to find that I actually had to cut the irrigation holes in the base where excess water can drain out. Flower pots always used to have the holes pre-cut when you bought them. Yet Douglas said absolutely nothing about this in his interview either. Perhaps Douglas isn't a fan of gardening. Maybe he lives in a flat and doesn't even have a garden. But it is much more likely that he is an accomplice to this outrageous scandal and knows full well that there is a well orchestrated propaganda campaign funded by dark money sourced from the plastics industry. If Douglas were to suddenly blurt out how flower pots no longer have holes in their bases, we would all see how the plastics industry is abusing its customers AND consuming unsustainable amounts of fossil fuels in the procsss.

The yogis push humanity to go beyond the mind and consciousness and have put down their experiences in detail. It's a road map of what humanity can achieve but at the end leaves it in our hands to choose the path (or not). The society was divided into 4 life stages, the first one being the student/learning age followed by the life of a householder and so on.... It is sad to see today's students brainwashed with rubbish, all stages mixed into one and left with no direction

Wokeness came from the ability to sue. Race, sex, gender, all of these are sue-able grounds. Business and cooporations are sick of getting sued, thats why we hear about these matters so much in the media.

If you don't know what you want to do with yourself then start by cleaning your room. Seriously. Having a clean living space shifts your energy and vibration. Then clean up your paperwork, your health, your fitness, your relationships. Then clean up your local park or start a community garden or hone your skills and talents. Things will flow and inspiration will come.

“Ideas, like nature, abhor a vacuum.” I love how Douglas Murray can so eloquently sum up so much in just a few words. And Ayaan Hirsi Ali also spoke to this on how extremism has been gaining ground in Europe (by both the right and left). When voices in the middle are silenced, that silence will be replaced by those at the extreme ends.

Douglas Murray is the only person alive today whom I would describe as brilliant. Combining a rapier wit with a great screen presence, he is unsurpassed in interviews, especially when allowed to speak at length without interruption, as here; witness his remarkable slow burn from 22:44 to 25:11. Having read his first book (published when he was a twenty-one-year-old undergraduate at Magdalen College, Oxford) and his most recent one, I am now eager to read all those in between.

20:19 I like Douglas's point regarding certainty. To me, that is the main issue. Not so much religion, but dogma. Religion without dogma is fairly harmless. But take anything seemingly harmless and even good and add dogma to it, and it becomes incredibly harmful.
That being said, the other side of the coin (nihilism) is also quite dangerous

I always enjoy Douglas Murray because he obeys that unwritten rule too many people feel free to ignore - you're only entitled to those opinions you can defend. Agree with him or not, but he defends his view well. As for the quest for meaning, no one has explored what has passed for meaning for human beings in more depth than Joseph Campbell who said, "I'm not convinced people are truly searching for meaning. What they seek is the sensation of being alive." Neither doctrinal nor nihilistic 🙂
