The way the confidence and arrogant personality juxtaposes the lack of aesthetics is phenomenal. And it doesn’t feel like an asspull, because there is actually a backstory as to how the elder Kai got his potential unleashing powers, which ties in relatively eloquently with potara fusion, linking everything up nicely.

The same can be said for fighting, the actual buildup to the fight and the aftermath of a fight is more interesting than the actual fight itself in my opinion.

Honestly insane how strong Gohan is here. He's gotta be pasts Goku's ssj3 level. Goku himself said he had a chance to beat fat buy at ssj3 but didn't. Gohan beating THIS buu like that had to put him way past ssj3. Meaning that vegito fusion had to be leaps and bounds stronger then Gohan. No wonder this show has issues with power scaling.

Goku was straight shaking in his boots to fight BASE Super Buu. Gohan really was Him at the end of Z yet Toriyama didn't give him shit
Fusion multiplies the power of the fusees with each other so its not 20×20 but 20×20, which is why Vegeto was so broken (back then there was no rival bonus, or if there was, its relative).
Which is differant than Buu's absorption too since Buu's increase is an addition.
Strongest possible Buu would be temporarly with Gohan absorbed while Gotenks is fused
Strongest possible fusion would be Potara Goku+Gohan, solely due to how opressively stronger Gohan was than anything else (SSJ2 < Big Buu < SSJ3
The manga straight up has him only get two punchs in before Buu executes his plan to blow up, hide and absorbs Gotenks, so his fade lasted 2 minutes at most.
There's people that never amounted to anything...and then there's Manga Ultimate Gohan
