    2:58 Don't want to be rude but with a real sword she might've cut her own hair. Maybe that's why samurai had their own distinctive haircut? Also please add subs, it seems you are getting many views from outside Japan. Just some basic instructional subs would suffice I think.

    This is pure bokkenjutsu. There are many differences.

    • @haochaotsiminh6193
      @haochaotsiminh6193 8 лет назад +1

      It's a wooden sword, not a club. How do I explain this. A wooden sword is shaped like a sword so it behaves like one except for balance differences which don't affect carrying out techniques with a wooden sword much so you can do the exact tsame techniques with a real sword because the techniques are the same and the instrument will only affect performance, which can be compensated for by using real swords in training situations where you don't hit your partner on the head especially hard, not the bloody art itself since that is in the mind.

    • @joysmith4696
      @joysmith4696 8 лет назад +3

      Bokkenjutsu IS a different set of techniques. There are many things you can do with a bokken that you cannot do with sword. And visa versa. There were many schools during certain periods that taught bokkenjutsu because sword duels were illegal. Unfortunately, many schools have lost their sword techniques because of this. Any of their senior teachers do know this, but it is what they have. No shame. I am an okuden menkyo. If I, personally had my choice, I would actually prefer to defend myself from a sword with a bokken. Sincerely, Tora Mitsu.

      Hey, I know it's been two years and you may have found a place, but:
      Google someplace near you that teaches iaido. It focuses on slow practice of techniques such as this, and if you're really looking for a good background in sword-work then it's the perfect place to start. You'll often find Iaido taught in Aikido dojos (I recommend trying a Birankai affiliated dojo, if you have options to choose from; Birankai is an organization within aikido with high standards that I personally trust).

      @@KougaSekido Domo Arigato Gozaimassu , Sensei. I'll keep on following your videos, for I really appreciate the fluidity of your technique and the calm which it conveys me. It's worth mentioning that at Bujinkan we practise Samurai school as well (actually the majority of the weapon curriculum). Thank for your kindness. Much respect an honour, those are my wishes to all of your dojo.

      Juan Carlos Vega: The Americans have no culture and very little history, so they won’t “get it” for something that is over 1000 years old! The Europeans, on the other hand simply don’t appreciate the self-discipline and self-sacrifice that that we true warriors aspire to.

    The female is very nice in that she freezes when the speaker apparently wants her to freeze. It is much easier to show how much better you are when the other person does just what you say. I think that if that lady let fly with her bokken, she would be bruising and breaking bones all day (if she wanted to).

  • @mrformby

    Initial contact is being made by cutting edge of sword.This damages he cutting edge..Not too fond of the Seigan no kamae. Both parties do not.Ukes shomen cut would also be a threat to toris hands,

    • @FinnMcRiangabra
      @FinnMcRiangabra 4 года назад +1

      And your point is what?? For training, it is always just approximate. For a theoretical actual combat, who cares if your blade gets nicked? Do you want to live?
      If I were sword fighting for my life with a multi-million dollar valued, historical sword I would not care if it was hacked to **ck by the end of the fight. I would want to live with all of my limbs intact. The sword can go **ck itself.
