Hey Ej, I see you doing the damn thing. I'm proud of you girl. And you look so much happier. I've always wanted to learn to weld myself and just never took the dive. I hope you keep doing these kinds of videos and we can all learn together. Sending you big hugs and loves.
Hey great video. You came a long way in a shorr time. Great home set up. Thanks for sharing your time explaing all your tool. And the basic tig set up. For someone just starting out you did a 100% job with this video. Hopefully you make some more tutorial vids in the future as your skill level increases. 👍🍿 sucks you ran out gas.
Great choice of welder and cart. You're way way ahead of me with TIg welding. I bought the exact same welder and cart. It's a great cart - enough hooks for all the wires, hoses and cables that go with the welder and a place for Ihe tackle box to keep track of all the bits that are needed for a TIG torch. I've been welding, Oxy/Acet, stick and MIG for about 70 years (I'm older than dirt) but never TIG. I recently (month ago) picked the Prime Weld 225X because it can do it all for specialty welding. So far it's been a terrific machine. As your box of practice pieces demonstrates, the key is practice, practice, more practice, then more practice.
Looks like you're doing well! I saw you on a steve morris video a while back and just ran across this video. I taught myself how to tig years ago. I bought a welder and a book. LOL There are a couple good you tube channels I have found that have some good trouble shooting and technique videos. one is Pacific arc tig welding, another really good one is welding tips and tricks. Keep at it. Looks like you're doing really well.
I agree! I always struggled with arc wander and I figured out why in one of his videos. If I accidently touched my tungsten to the puddle I just resharpenned it but thats not good enough. You have to cut off all the contaminated tungsten up until it's shiny again. Not just resharpenning the tip. You should check out the other guy too. He's unbelievable. Good luck!@@ej_was_here
Best of luck! you have assembled a great kit...keep the oil, gasoline, parts washers away from the grinders and welders....get two fire extinguishers and two or more bottles of argon/mix
Not that it probably means anything coming from a boomer but, girl I am impressed. Your organization and attention to detail are great. Keep it up. This the first video from you I have seen and you may have a new subscriber.
Steve Morris has an amazing welding video that you might like to view. The title is "Can You Weld Copper Pipe Carrying Millions of Volts of Electricity?". I have a tig welder but I have never used it. Getting ready to retire so I will have more time to "play". Hope you enjoy.
I really got obsessed with tig welding over covid. I changed machines 3 times for better features and spent all my spare time on youtube learning about the science behind it all. I feel it was one of the best skills I could have gifted myself with and having an A/C machine and being able to use it properly is something I don't know how I got by without for the last 2 decades. The quality difference in parts you make yourself between mig and tig are like a Datsun to a Ferrari. Enjoy the curve and take your time to make things look nice.
@@landslide03 I started with a little dc tig. It did have hf start but that’s about it. I eventually ended up with an everlast 275 lightning. Depends what country you’re in as to what is available to you. You don’t need to get too hung up on what machine you get. As long as it has enough features and is good quality with warranty it’ll do everything you need it to.
My first inexpensive welding regulator made me run through gas super quickly. I could set the continuous flow using the flow gauge thing but when the gas first started it put out a huge burst of argon every time I started an arc. That meant that when I did a bunch of short welds i used up argon very quickly. I got a better regulator after my original broke and it's way better.
Also check your hose from the Regulator to the Back of the Machine, If it is the "clear" lightly Braided reinforced, soft vinyl hose that is Common, It can Expand quite a lot and give you that big "Whoosh" of wasted Argon, I use Rubber "Oxy/ acetylene" hose, it is heavily reinforced so does NOT expand and waste your Argon.
Those smaller tanks are cost effective and easier to handle, but you'll go through them pretty quick if you do a lot of welding. Might want to keep a spare tank around (same size, so only a 1-time cost).
All is good with the videos. Just good to hear what's going on now n then. Very good choices on your set up, spend money where important n not on frills. Do love your hood though, so jealous cuz want one but don't need one. 400$ Jackson junk was not clear but 130$ Westair is super clear but flimsy head gear. My first project with a new welder has always been making a cart for it but not bad for 120 bucks. Glad that you are building your happy place and doing what you love. Best to ya EJ.
yeah that looks like "out of gas" soot. disconnect your argon tank and then crack the valve open to see if its full (assuming the there is no safety valve stopping flow) , its strange because your flow check ball was moving up. also check your post and pre flow settings are turned up on your welder, my AHP201 has those.
I must've used up the last bit of gas while cracking it open bc the ball dropped down to around 5 shortly after. Filled the tank the other day, we're back in business!
Always wanted to learn how to weld, was a miserable failure at arc welding. Maybe I’ll follow your lead and try TIG. Don’t pay attention to some of these a-holes in the comments ,they have no place to tell you what to do with your life😊
I loved seeing a woman who was so passionate with Subarus. Your skills kept me watching your car videos. You should keep working on Subarus and make it back to subifest!
Wow- you really do have a lot of shit up in that garage. Good overall setup, however- perfect machine at a good price- other folks really seem to like it.
Yay..EJ is back..better watch the video first..😁
woohoo!!
I must say, for your 3rd time ever Tig welding, I’m really impressed with how good your welds look. Keep up the good work!
I will be learning with you!
Nice to see you back and hope you get to feeling better. Nice small shop set-up you have there and learn from trial & error.
thanks!

I have the exact same cart, good quality for the price.

Great video EJ👍 Informative and well put together.
thank you!
just a tip,use your ground strap to clamp your part down or put in on the part to make sure you have the best ground. good luck ,take care

Pacific Arc is awesome!! His videos are super helpful

I am looking for a machine for tig. Can you tell me what machines you started out with and what you ended up with? I just don't want to buy twice.

Dont think I've seen any prime weld stuff available in the UK ,they seem capable machines, Great video, i like the set-up.
capable indeed! thanks.
Good Luck..........

Hey, sharpen both ends so you don't have to stop and resharpen as much. Just something I have learned as a newby as well.
Ooo good idea hadn't thought of that one
YEAH EJ!!!!!!!!🎉
How dare you have a personal life and pursue your goals. Glad your back.

10/10 recommend trying it out! And I don't take the negative comments to heart, I'm just doing whatever makes me the happiest.

Did I just see you grinding tungsten with no safety glasses on????
Nice RAW sticker lol
😎💪🏁
Where is your Subaru??
It's been in hibernation mode for a while now 😅 Deciding if I want to sell it for a new project or go make it go fasttt
I loved seeing a woman who was so passionate with Subarus. Your skills kept me watching your car videos. You should keep working on Subarus and make it back to subifest!
Get yourself a dust mask. Your lungs will thank you while grinding tungsten.

You were given the opportunity of a lifetime working with one of the greatest motorheads of all time! in my opinion, you screwed up! Time will tell.
Seriously? You're trying to guilt her for a life decision? She's her own woman and can do whatever she wants. Now go kick your dog.
Very supportive , prick .
GOBBLESS HOSS
EJ has to pick her own path. No one can pick it for her.
I'm just doing what's best for myself in the long run.
Have a great day thanks for watching 😆
so you r argon bottle doesnt have a pressure gage and flow gage where one could just see if its empty or not before starting to weld? mind blown
