This is NOT working class😆. That group set alone cost more than my bike, my gf bike, AND our weeks tour of the Hebrides put together 😂
I might blow your mind here - maybe not - but that set of bottle cages comes with one of each opening. If you switch the one that's on your seat tube with the one on your down tube, they'll both face left on your bike. Appreciate you and what you do!
Mind Blown...Thank you!
Makes me wish I wasn't poor. 😅
Same 🤙 😂 too bad I just got into back packing 🙃
If you are brave you can get a used bike many places. Another way is to visit a Bicycle Recycle that has a partial bike and used parts to pick through. We got the major stuff together pretty well. I had a good bike shop do the final assembly because I haven’t worked on a bike with internal cable routing. I ended up with a great road bike for not much $. Best of luck.
So spooky...I ordered a DV9 in tan for an XC mtb build project last week....SRAM GX eagle 12 sp...rockshox SID Select+ 120mm fork...dropper post...the works...so this video was some great validation hahaha. Enjoy the bike
Since everyone is asking, its about $7050 USD if you add up all the parts (Oct 2023). The GX Transmission stock build from Ibis is $5300 retail, and comes with Shimano XT brakes, and a Fox Factory 34. I get you went "mid level", but doubt that a carbon wheelset and AXS dropper lines up with most peoples definition of working class.
A friend of mine gave me a Trek 7300 and I'm building it into a bikepacker. Ryan at Dirty River Cycle helped me pick all components. I'll be doing the work myself which adds to the excitement.
That's a great service they offer.
I had no idea Gear Heads even existed, good to know. I do love a rocking hardtail.
Where I think this service would stand out is in areas of builds where it isn't as straightforward. Let's say you need a new bottom bracket and cranks. What offset do you need on your chainring? What sort of bottom bracket does your frame need? What kind of chainring mounting system do you want, and why?
I know it was a sponsored video but it genuinely could be helpful for those things that not everyone knows about
Exactly!
There are lots of things to consider when choosing to go the custom route or upgrade your current bike. Our Gearheads are here to make it easier on you.
Just got my build done. Same level spec and a transparent purple over the steel frame so you can still see the welds and 3d printed components.
With my old skool MTB, I do the same but with a set of digital callipers and some online research.
I envy your skills!
I wish I knew about this service. So so cool! I’d need help knowing even what components I’d need.
Gave you a shout out in today’s EBD Live.
Listing half of my left handed Lezyne bottle cages on Craigslist now.
pro moves
I got my own hard tail this month. The goal was to return to all the spots where I had to hike a bike on my gravel bike rides and take it to the bike park to learn how to mountain bike. The hard tail wasn’t a silver bullet-I didn’t instantly start ripping down those chunky descents. But so far, so much fun. Really cool being a beginner again, learning how to turn, pump, jump, and all that.
Solid 11 out of 1 to 9 for both the freehub sound and the entire build! Damn, such a sweet bike!
Correct answer 😜
I love my 2023 DV9. Thing rails on single track
F a c t s
Compatibility is the bane of the builder - don't even get started with headsets and bottom brackets.
EXACTLY THIS!!!!!
Headsets are frustrating
Sweet ripper! I think the new gx looks way better than the xx or whatever the shiny machined finish one is
I have been thinking about building one of these to use up some spare parts. Great video!
Soooo.
I am very very new to MTB.
I bought a very nice used DV9 for $1000.
If I sold the stock components I would almost have a free frame to start with.
There is always a way people.
Great video BTW
Sid forks, !!working class 😂 Aren't they almost top of the line ? Nice video.
That's such a sweet looking bike! I don't MTB but it sure looks fun to ride.
..still to pricey as a working class bike for me but the colorway is so damn beautiful…have fun!..
Love your commentary. Make sure you get electrolytes, too. The elevation, heat, and dry air can really get to you.
Fun, fun, fun. New bike day is the best day.
I feel so incredibly honored!
Awesome build. Seems real high end to me.
Def ended upper middle class 🤦🏻♂️
That was a fun bike build. Didn’t even get your hands dirty.
My mind is blown!
I was about to say… I kept waiting for the part where it gets built
I love my Fizik Vento Argo R3 adaptive saddle, super comfortable.
I9 and Cane Creek are from my home area! Great picks! I9 wheels are sick!
Very cool!
I’d like a service for this for things like bottom brackets headsets and derailleur hangers, and axle spacing and thread. All the mysterious bike gear you need a bike nerd degree to decipher.
Our Gearheads can help with all those things too!
Cut to the chase what was the cost of the build?
That’s reserved for me and my wife to argue about.
My guess is the cost to him was whatever it cost to make the video.
Great as always, bravo from Greece.
Ooo been eyeing that new DV9. A mystical beast. Also, fun video!
That guy I swear had dollar signs in his eyes....ker ching kerching🤑🤑
Sweet build bro! Did you notice that the faceplate of your stem is upside down? It cuts off some of the logo.
I just realized what what happening with that.
Swapped it about an hour ago. 😉
upside stem faceplate is fun and cool.
I am definitely not an aggressive rider, but SRAM Level brakes are scary as heck.
Curious to know what you spent or at least how much more or less it was than the stock version.
This penciled out to around $7K complete
Itchycoo......
Do you drink water on the bike? 😂
Best grips ever ❤ Build is so nice 👌
Couldn't agree more!
“Oh and grab some…” 🤣
hahahaha
Where was Ride by the numbers. What was the cost of that bad boy
Does the DV9 feel like a trail or XC bike in terms of position and stack height? Do you feel you have your weight centered, on the back wheel or pushing more on the front wheel?
I'm asking because I have a problem with low stacks, having pretty long legs (180cm, 86inseam). Thanks
My shop said the DV9 is a XC rocket ship. That said, the stack isn't that low. But the stays are short if you're tall and ride on the balls of your feet.
The forks on the complete builds can't fit a true 2.6. I'd like a Float 34 130 with 2.6 tires on each end. That would help with the stack and BBH while making it more a fast trail ripper.
is this a free service from CC?
It is!
Ok, so how unaffordable is the finished bike going to be?
Everyones set up will be different. It's always less expensive to buy a complete build but they dont have the same flavor as a custom build.
9 that purple is so noice!!
Forget all this bike stuff. Let's see the collection of glasses you have! Our man has more glasses than Lens Crafters. (Is Lens Crafters still a thing, or did I date myself?)
New Bike Day... 🤤💜
What’s the final weight?
We weighed it at 25lbs 5oz ready to ride!
Lol Enve does not equal “Everyman” but entertaining video
Is Industry Nine's hubs not worth it ?
I have found them to be high quality. BUT there are loads of other options out there just as quality....they do sound nice.
Step 1. Have bookoo bucks.
Is this an IBIS DV9
You called it!
Name change! Ebd!!
Keep us on our toes ;)
Absolutely lovely bike but definitely not working class athlete, much more upper-middle class athlete the way its built... Blingidy bling bling 💵💵💶
I was trying to go for mid level parts.
Seems like more and more that level keeps rising. 🤷🏻♂️
Could this have just been an advertisement for Competitive Cyclist’s service?
it is a sponsored video
@@EverythingsBeenDone what’s that mean? You got all the stuff for free? Just what to know what the actual deal is here.
So….free then. Ok. The video was a bit painful to watch. Obviously staged. Were your sides of the ‘conversation’ even live? Unsubscribed.
I hate that you linked this video to the amazing solo ride one. The high of a super cool vid, to the low of chatting w/ Big Online customer service about stuff LBS employees are dying to help with. Can't win 'em all I suppose. Again, awesome solo ride video!
I’m sorry you feel that way. I honestly think what CC does is impressive and was honored to be able to make a video with them about what they do.
Easy with one thing… access to wholesale or pro pricing
Yes. Money
The only one that would put SRAM brakes on a custom built bike....
I love your videos but stop with all these jump cuts I have motion sickness and I sometimes have to turn them off and it's not fun to watch.... I love the content 😢😅
Mid range, working man’s bike?
What you would build?
9
Im dying 🤣
Says he wants a working mans build and then proceeds to gucci out the whole thing😂
There are many levels above this build on ALL the pieces.
"Working class"-3D printed seat, wierless shifting...🤐
Mid level build.
what would you have built up?
fancy - I used @JohnnyNerdOut to build my last ebike, it was amazing, saved me from a million bottom bracket & tool compatibility issues
Just got my build done. Same level spec and a transparent purple over the steel frame so you can still see the welds and 3d printed components.
