Please don’t be embarrassed that you have a cluttered basement. We all have spaces in our life that are cluttered. Whether it’s a basement, a garage, a closet, a room, a whole house, or just mental clutter. We all got it! You gave some great advice on how to work with your spouse to tackle the clutter. That’s priceless to me.
Your purging and organizing videos are excellent. Walking us through the process is so very helpful. Certainly for me, I have been able to let go of things that I have held onto for decades. I think of your mom's scarf or the glass cutting board and I am able to let go of my own stories. Just cause I paid for it doesn't mean I have to keep it. Etcetera. You are an exceptional teacher and you touch so many lives. So please let go of any embarrassment. You show real people living actual lives. It is refreshing in this world of Instagram and RUclips perfection. Please please keep showing it how it is. Love and blessings to the whole MHA family.
We have a large attic space. In 7 years, we stored our Etsy shop supplies and finds, mom moved 4 times so we stored the majority up there, Aunt moved 3 times and once again everything kept up there, our Christmas and all the random stuff. Then we fast moved everything to the otherside so we could build a mother in law quarters.. Mom and Aunt passed away in a years time.. So, let's just say I keep that side of the attic shut and swear I'll go thru it every summer. Procrastinating.
Team work makes the dream work!! The majority of us have areas that need to be decluttered and organized; I know I definitely do! You two are doing great!
What's embarrassing are the channels that pretend chaos doesn't exist. Thanks for sharing real life. We can all see we're normal. These videos give me so much enjoyment, its your personality for me.
There’s nothing better then working with someone on these clean and organize projects, I don’t even have to be in close proximity of the other person to be productive, just knowing someone is helping keeps me motivated and I get so much more done plus the great satisfaction of seeing the end result makes me proud and filled with a great sense of accomplishment, I usually sleep like a baby after a good soak in the tub reflecting on the awesome day! I love watching you and hubby working together, you’re such an awesome couple!
I love everything orderly & labeled- I love your before & after! I’m sure no one will be more excited than you to have the basement stairwell! God’s Blessings today & always! 💜
You have a huge basement. The area I have to stop and cleanup every season. It’s my seed room. I find that in the winter it’s a catch all and so every winter around the first of February I have to deep clean for planting and every summer I have to clean all my seed starting stuff up so it’s ready for next spring a vicious circle. You are an inspiration. My husband is a great help but he tends to think my stuff is less important than his sometimes very comical.
That was an enormous job!! Congratulations on the completion! I’m always overwhelmed when I look at an area that is sooo disorganized and my biggest problem is not knowing where to start! You had excellent suggestions on starting with the trash and then putting like items together. I thought that was so brilliant and efficient use of your time. I really enjoyed the before and after and the time lapse, thanks for sharing and don’t worry a lot of us have even bigger messes that we would be embarrassed if anyone saw and we don’t live in Alaska dealing with all Mother Nature throws at you. You are an inspiration! Thank you!🥰🇨🇦🙏🏻❤️
This is a great video. Sometimes, some of us just need a little inspiration,to get motivated. Time for my husband, and me to stop talking about needing to purge our basement, and get doing it. Thanks for giving us the push we needed. ❤️
My basement and dining room are piled up right now with things we've been buying second hand or on sale for my daughter's wedding in the Fall - table linens, glass globes to go around the candles, flowers and other decor, etc. etc. etc. She's also moving into another apartment in a few months so we've started saving boxes and packing supplies for that! It drives me crazy but I know it's only temporary! If all we did was keep our house clean, we would do nothing else - definitely not enjoy our lives! So please don't feel embarrassed. Have a great weekend!!! Love the videos!
Oh wauw! I can completely feel your overwhelmdness. And what a sense of relief and accomplishness you must feel now. Great job! Very happy for the both of you. 👍🏻 And now go and make it messy again by building the stairs 😄 But honestly, I so would like you to have an indoor entry to your basement. See you later!
Oh my, you are SO fortunate to have a basement. After my husband passed away, 11 years ago, I found that I was not able to care for my home by myself. In the summertime I could not do the gardening, the maintenance on all the other things that one has to do . Plus, wintertime I couldn’t plow, shovel, and do all of that. So, one of my sons and his family took over my home, and I moved into a rental property. (Which I don’t care for…) Anyway…..from a 4 bedroom home, a basement, a garage and 2 sheds, I had a lot of stuff. Weeding out, and giving away so much stuff….was difficult. Here, in the rental, I have 2 bedrooms, open living room/dining area/kitchen. I have the master bedroom. You want to know where my stuff is?? Other than my bed, 2 dressers and night stand, ALL the stuff I don’t use on a daily basis is stacked up in boxes and shelving in 1/4 of my bedroom! Christmas stuff; canning jars and equipment, tools and toolbox, my first aid equipment, a tote with photos and important papers……well, I think you get the point. Not having a basement or attic anymore is a disadvantage. But,I am not complaining. At least I still have my drill, my tools and all the stuff I mentioned! But……oh……a basement like yours would be a blessing. I really enjoyed watching you and Aaron work together, 1 hour nightly, to accomplish your goal. What excited me the most, is NOW YOU WILL GET YOUR STAIRS! Yippee!! Your basement is lovely! And,I did see Wyatt helping, as well! Hugs to all, Bev in Maine
Hi sweet one! That was truly a lot of work! It can be so hard just to get started, but you made it happen. You are so fierce, my friend! My sister made it through surgery, but they think she may have had a stroke. She is off sedation, but is not waking up yet. The doctors do not know anything for sure yet, but will do on MRI on Monday to see if she had a stroke, The swelling was so bad after surgery, they could not tell if it was a stroke or just swelling, If it was a stroke in the brain stem they said she will never wake up. We are hopeful at this point and continue to pray she will wake up, I appreciate all prayers! Much love to you and your family, and many blessings!
Our basement is like yours. We have table saws and planers and hunting stuff. It’s just the way it is when u live up north, great job cleaning and organizing the basement.❄️🇨🇦❄️
We've lived in our house 40 years and the two-car garage is full top to bottom (the two 1950s and 60s cars on the bottom). You have a good plan that you've executed. I'll share with my husband and then hopefully we can start on it soon. Thanks!
Your videos are very educational for me. I'm making plans to move to Alaska and the videos are helping me know what to think about and helping me design and plan for my home. Thank you so much.
Cleaning/organizing party is the best way. Ours was last weekend. Did 3 cabinets, 25# of chicken in the canner, Mom did the big 1st aid bag, and my help was doing floors and some repairs. Might do some more this weekend!
I did some straightening up and organizing with my Azure too. Those little amounts that won't fit in the jar and float around are a problem for me too! Sometimes I just want to throw it away, I don't, but ugh. I found that 5 pounds of beans, rice, that kind of thing fits in a gallon jar and there's plenty of room in a 5 gallon bucket for 25 pounds, plus some, of the same kind of things. Thank you so much for showing real life, you and your family are such an inspiration and get me going!
So glad to hear of someone else using einkorn! My husband and I both can only tolerate einkorn wheat and it’s delicious but definitely a learning curve in using it. I’ll look forward to seeing what you cook/ bake with it!
Oh I feel you on the basement , it’s been really nice we got after the garage ect , with the warmer weather , but the ice yay living in Alaska , it’s a blast truthfully

Hi Jessica and Aaron! Haha, Aaron is funny. Oh Jessica, please don’t feel embarrassed, you should see my basement, it’s a disaster. I’m just waiting till it warms up a tad and I have a helping hand. We all have places that get out of hand. I hope you and your sweet family have a blessed evening!
Am I thrilled to hear the basement steps are being planned!! Plan on installing a handrail and stair treads ; due to your recent “acrobatic” injuries keep yourself off the concrete floor!! You guys are doing a great job on a hard task! We know!! Grab a couple of thrifted chairs to use in the good prep area. Sometimes a quick sit, will be called for!! Until our next visit.. ❤ Momma G
