There is a great amount of security in knowing that food and supplies are readily available no matter what may crop up. Been a prepper for nearly all of my 40 something years. It has served me well through some tough times, and just in regular times. Why go to the store every single time something is needed? Seems like a waste in time, money, wear and tear on vehicle, etc. So yeh, having a stout personal in-home store can really help in times of job loss, reduction in hours, illness, injury, car breakdown, sudden big expense, bad weather, power outage, wanting to save money, not feeling like going to the store (or wasting gas to do so), etc. We can't control for everything, but we can be smart about what we have at our fingertips. Little bit here and there all adds up. Yet we need more than we think. If we only ate from what we have and could not resupply easily, then it is vital to look at how much we may go through to sustain current level of calorie consumption. @@jazzylyn5857 well thanks so much. I learned from here on youtube on prepping. I did couponing my whole life but never really thought of the prepping for emergencies until last couple years or so.
Good for you. It looks like you are prepared if, for whatever reason, you cannot do regular grocery shopping for weeks or months. If you have not already done so, I recommend you get a propane-fueled generator large enough to power your freezer for at least 12 hours in every 24 hours (and an outdoor heavy duty extension cord to connect outdoor generator to indoor freezer), so all that meat does not thaw when the outdoor temperatures are above freezing. Otherwise, you would have to home-can a lot of thawed meat so it does not spoil. It is good that you have kept a lot of your canned foods in their original plastic-wrapped cardboard flats. This makes it easier to carry the food upstairs if there is danger of your basement flooding. It also makes it easier to prevent the canned goods from getting dented should there be an earthquake strong enough to topple loose cans from shelves. I do recommend you find a way to leash those shelving units to the basement walls or to each other so they will not topple over during an earthquake. Also, it is good to set containers of liquid cleansers inside plastic tubs or tote bins just in case one of the containers develops a leak (learned this the hard way).
Hubby has attached the shelves to the walls actually. I love the tip of the plastic totes for the cleaners. Have not thought of that. I learn so much from all of you for sure.. thanks so much. I have long laundry baskets that I use to bring things upstairs in large amounts. I keep them for that reason alone actualy.
With all you have you might consider a freeze dryer. You could freeze dry almost all your can goods to get a shelf life up to 25 years. Chicken, and turkey and beef freeze r Dry extremely well also.
Please do. I'm doing something everyday whether it's shopping sales, vac sealing, rotation, checking my different categories like meds, batteries, wicks, etc and making lists to restock or replenish
My brother call this hoarding! I have been into preparedness since I was 19, after my truck broke down, and I had to walk almost 40 miles in the desert, to get back to base for help.
@@LazarickHomestead oh yes for sure. I do an onion and pepper mix. Really good with the sausage you have too, my hubby loves that!! @@heyitssammij oh man I just wrote all this down to make..when I do the video I always mention where I got it from. So stay tuned. What type of cheese do u suggest?
That's exactly why I prefer canning and drying. (Both of which can be done without electricity.) No power means no freezer. What if you run out of gas and can't get more? What if you can't get a replacement panel or other part when it breaks/dies? I brought this up yesterday and some troglodyte with extremely limited reading comprehension skills completely misunderstood me, then had the audacity to give me the 🙄 emoji when I sat there trying to figure out what the heck they were talking about. SMH some people...
@@katie7748 yes I agree to a degree. I am finding we are not eating certain things that I canned myself due to noone liking them. so its a waste of time and food if it sits there. we have stocked 30 of those 5 gallon fuel cans and rotate those out as needed and refill. we have over 150 of those 1 pound propane canisters and 6 or 7 of the 20 pound ones as well so we are always topped off in different areas. Its not gonna last forever but its a start till we can afford one of those huge solar gennies. we also have a huge gas generator as well. so its a process of building up your preparedness items. We are not rich so we do what we can afford.
Its such a good idea to have food security just like you make sure you have insurance on everything else.. so why not make sure you have food for tough times
I am shocked at how much food and supplies you have. you are well prepared. my daughter just bought a house so she is starting a food pantry in the basement, we are just getting started. here in canada food is very expensive so we want to get supplies in as soon as we are able.
It is years in the making, using coupons and shopping sales and great deals. Not just on food but on toiletries and just about everything we use. I have learned so much just from here on youtube and subscribers tips and comments also
WTG! I use to be a CouponQueen many years ago I use to stock so much back then..My kids are all grown with homes of their own -my stocking up turned them totally opposite they never stock up on anything 😩 Not worried about them as they don’t have money issues and pretty much just buy whatever they want to eat daily…however they would come to my house if the stores closed today.. I also cook/bake from scratch, can, dehydrate, freeze along with making my own cleaners, body products, OTC meds..they aren’t going to do anything like that it’s to much work involve for them plus they are all males..lol..Nothing better then having a house full of food and non food to not be stressed when hard times hit.
@@LazarickHomestead ~It saddens me too! They had it to easy growing up compared to me..they never experienced no food in the house or any kind of discomfort to make them see anything different ..not that I would ever want them to go through what I did on my childhood. The only benefit is they do have us, they do know how cook, youngest knows how to hunt..so I’m reality we’re a pretty round skilled family.
used to be a couponer also. Remember the Lysol coupons placed next to the lysol products? I would grab those and wait for Lysol to go sale at meijer(buy save 50 cents each making them 89 cents ea. With those coupons i was getting 3 canisters of wipes for a buck. Guess who still has 70 canisters of wipes sitting on a shelf in 2023?? @@paulawinstead5660 I think they called those peelies and tear pads for coupons. I was same way. Still grab tear pads and peelies when I see them and save them for later use. Sales come in cycles so wait about 6 weeks and that item is back on sale and then use a coupon too!!!!
Anything is better than nothing. I eat he'd a youtube video where this person took totes and stored food in it threw a tablecloth over it and everyone thought it was a table. There's so many ways
Thank you so much for taking us on a fun prepper pantry tour. There’s so much to learn from you. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to reach this level of preparedness. Just subscribed.
Every home needs repair form time to time. It is a good idea to cover most if not all of your supply's when repairmen have to come in? i cover all of my supply's with sheets, So they can not see what i have. One ask, i told them i didn't want to use a storage locker. Great pantry!
I just found your video. This is nice. I just started prepping this year. What's the brand on your freezer with blueberry drawer? I wish we had a basement. I live in Florida.
WOWWWWW. Turned a front room/company/parlor, into a family pantry. As well as other storage for the ThriveLife. Also found an Mormon Pantry in our area. Etc, etc, etc. Stove top canners>>> do you have replacement rings & plugs, weights? For my Prestos, found that generic gasket & weight from Amazon was ok, but the little plug HAD to be Presto (size difference). 😊
If you don't like it, it should not be put in your basement (it's a waste of money if you trash it or donate it). I will recommend the channel The Provident Pepper
I agree. This past year I have taken notice of what we ended up not liking and not eaten and stopped canning those things. It's really a constant learning process.
Great Job, new subscriber here. Wanted to ask you do you have to worry about flooding from rain or snow? Also how thick are the basements walls. Wish I had your basement!
The basement has 8 inch walls about and we ont get flooding here luckily. Thanks for coming by the channel!!! I learn so much from all our wonderful subscribers
Wish I had my old house elsewhere. Had a basement with wood shelves. Even the crawl under the addition was tall, dry, concrete and a good hiding place. Now that vinegar is 4 dollars, I pick up one most trips. Only thing that gets kitty litter dust off my floors that gets crushed. Finally saved that expensive vinyl that looks like wood. Only smells like salad dressing for awhile. It'll go up and up like everything else. Ollie's isn't so cheap anymore. Darn. Would find cat food and other things we use way cheaper. I don't looked stocked up compared to you.I keep finding more room. Creative organization once in awhile. Got rid of beer making stuff. Rarely drink and last batches were a disaster. May sell instruments for money though not real valuable ones. Nice but no Gibsons or other pricey ones.
I am slowly going thru EVERYTHING and decluttering by selling and giving away things. More to do to day actually. You are so right. Ollies is not cheap anymore as pretty much everywhere. Its crazy.
some things can be years. tomatoe products can get a tinny taste but still ok. Always do a smell test. Also if there is dents in the cans I would use those first.
In this video I show some of my canned chicken. You must have not watched the whole video. I showed pressure canned chicken thighs and drumstick as well as chicken stock, beef brisket, sausage patties, ground beef too
I cook for 4 of us. Plus cookouts with sometimes 50 or so people at a time. I also do not go out much in the winters here in Mass. It gets slippery as all get out. so I stock so that if we are snowed in we are good. I can cook in my fireplace. I stock for unexpected job loss like what happened a couple years ago to us.. hubby lost his job so I knew we would still eat well and not have BUY and use the money we did have to buy groceries. we could put that money to paying our mortgage till hubby got another job. Its a security thing honestly. would you want to be stressing about paying bills and trying to decide which ones to pay and still have to eat ???
My biggest problem is rotating stock. I just recently went through and found an entire sack full of canned goods and boxes that were past their expiration date.
I never buy more than a six month supply of a certain food with the same expiration date. And yes you generally can use canned goods beyond the BBF date. Acidic foods can leach through cans though.
Well all my freeze dried and lds stuff will last unopened about 25 years. Not really sure on regular foods as I rotate out and replace as I see gaps. O know we would be good for a couple years at least. We have another location that is stocked with freeze dried foods and non perishables as well so we would be comfortable few years I would say
I'm a prepper too! Im extremely impressed by your basement. May I suggest you put bars on the inside of your basement windows for added security.

Wow, I'm blown away!
Hi there. It's always a work in progress for sure but I have learned so much. Only stock what you use. I went crazy and bought th I ngs we didn't eat or like and ended up donating alot to food pantries before this video
Wow! what a fantastic stockpile and organized basement. You could teach a class :) Don't forget to check your sump pump to make sure the battery is working and you have a back up. I would hate to see a flood down there.
Thanks yes we check the pumps regularly a day we have a floating floor so nothing would ever get wet. Thanks for stopping in and have a great night
Love your basement & stock. Just inspired me to buy a pack of 18 tins of meat products to add to my stash.
tins? is that where the meat comes in a metal tin can or something? I have never heard of that word used for meat. Where are you from if I may ask?
@@LazarickHomestead Heh heh! Yes, I'm UK, we call cans of food tins instead of cans. Same thing. I'm obsessed with watching USA pantry videos. We only have a few UK preppers on YT, so not much to watch. Yours is amazing!
😊you have the best stock up I have ever seen, I love your whole setup❤
Thanks. It's always a work in progress as I make sure to restock and replace what I use.
New to your channel! Truly amazing! God bless you!
Hi there and welcome it's a Mish mosh of cooking, gardening, family and a little of everything.
So smart kindling
Yup always good to have it and works for rocket stoves too
With all you have you might consider a freeze dryer. You could freeze dry almost all your can goods to get a shelf life up to 25 years. Chicken, and turkey and beef freeze r
Dry extremely well also.
I've thought about it but can't afford it right now. It's on my want list though!!!
I love ur pantry
Thanks for coming by! It's a constant work in progress!
Love your organization!
Thank you!! 😊I still feel unorganized most days lol
wow, blown away by the amount you have stocked
thanks.. its been years in the making and is constant rotation.
WOW! Awesome!
Thanks!
You are truly well stocked, I'm impressed, you inspire me to keep going. 😮😊
Well your brother is welcome to his opinion. I would rather not worry about food and eating and focus our money on other things.
Wow -18,000 views -good for u. Well deserved
hi there and thanks so much!
This is the deepest prepper panty I've seen. Much thanks for the share.
thanks for coming by!
Those diced potatoes are really good fried 👍🏻
Yum. I will be trying that soon
Great with diced ham and peppers especially!!!!
@@heyitssammij I gotta put onions too..I love onions
@@LazarickHomestead oh yes for sure. I do an onion and pepper mix. Really good with the sausage you have too, my hubby loves that!!
Quick dinner and so so hearty and filling!!
2 cans diced potatoes
2 cups onion and pepper mix
1 sliced sausage or 1 can of diced ham
Season well
Top with cheese..
Delicious
@@heyitssammij oh man I just wrote all this down to make..when I do the video I always mention where I got it from. So stay tuned. What type of cheese do u suggest?
No keep your canning jars. You’re gonna need them.
I did sell my brother a couple but kept most of them. I have way more vac sealing I want to do
Hope you have a back up generator. You have a lot of $$$ invested in all of this freezer food!
We have 2 generators. a fuel one and a solar one.
I'm a prepper too 😁
Its such a good idea to have food security just like you make sure you have insurance on everything else.. so why not make sure you have food for tough times
I have learned so much just from here on youtube and subscribers tips and comments also
Everything looks so nice
thanks so much for stopping over here!!!

@@LazarickHomestead So true. You need a dumbwaiter put in.🤗
So impressive!❤
Thanks!!
Wow it's like a grocery store😮
yes. i know where everything is so its easy to get when I am making our meals.
Same here with the coupons. My older boys are the same. They make much more money than we do and just don't prepare at all. It saddens me.
This woman didn't sweat the panic shopping of 2020 when these items could not be found😁
@@paulawinstead5660 I think they called those peelies and tear pads for coupons. I was same way. Still grab tear pads and peelies when I see them and save them for later use. Sales come in cycles so wait about 6 weeks and that item is back on sale and then use a coupon too!!!!
Wow I'm impressed. I wish my tiny closet had a way to expand. I guess anything is better than nothing 😢
Anything is better than nothing. I eat he'd a youtube video where this person took totes and stored food in it threw a tablecloth over it and everyone thought it was a table. There's so many ways
Get creative with using other spaces in your home like under the bed and behind sofas and such
Thank you so much for taking us on a fun prepper pantry tour. There’s so much to learn from you. Just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to reach this level of preparedness. Just subscribed.
HI there, It has taken about 4 years I would say. Its always being added too when there are sales for the things we use here
Every home needs repair form time to time. It is a good idea to cover most if not all of your supply's when repairmen have to come in? i cover all of my supply's with sheets, So they can not see what i have. One ask, i told them i didn't want to use a storage locker. Great pantry!
Hi there. I may have to start doing that. Great idea!!

Thank you and thanks for stopping in here.
I just found your video. This is nice. I just started prepping this year. What's the brand on your freezer with blueberry drawer? I wish we had a basement. I live in Florida.
arctic freeze is the brand of freezer. I know I heard that there are no basements in florida.. I couldnt live there just for that lol
Wow!!!!!!!
Thanks for coming by!!!!
😊
I have all replacement parts for all canners. From gopresto dot com. It's good to be stocked up!
Wow
Wow, what an impressive stock! Incredible!
How long does the frozen meat and chicken good for after you freeze them?
If wrapped properly I am still eating meats from 2021. In my other videos lately that I have done I have shown meats from 2021 I am using.
i have learned so much from you thank you for sharing love ya girl🥰
Giggles!!!! Love and miss you.. the livestreams will be coming back when its more indoor weather over here!
Ŵow what a pantry
Thanks for watching!!!
Its crazy.
Great video ❤️
Thank you!!
Great job and organization 🍅🌱
thank you for stopping by!
pretty darn nice, wish our basement was as big as yours . . . thanks for sharing. solar panels and batterys ??
gotta have the backups to your backups.. saying is.. two is one and one is none.. i keep that in my head at all times!
I wish I was your best fiend and neighbor 😂😂😂
Wish i had a BASEMENT
When we were viewing the house as soon as I got down here I had my realtor put the offer in lol..
just because of the basement.
How long do you go past the expiration date? This is a grocery store 👌. Learned something new today 👍
some things can be years. tomatoe products can get a tinny taste but still ok. Always do a smell test. Also if there is dents in the cans I would use those first.
Have you ever can some of your frozen chicken? Put them in jars in case the power goes off..
In this video I show some of my canned chicken. You must have not watched the whole video. I showed pressure canned chicken thighs and drumstick as well as chicken stock, beef brisket, sausage patties, ground beef too
Wow. You're set!
I wish I felt that way. I always feel I do not have it enough. I rotate out so I am always filling in gaps.
Are you using things before the expiration or best buy date? Like the over the counter meds, Motrin Tylenol etc
Yes for meds and most foods can go years past those dates especially canned goods. I have done my research.
May I ask how many people do you cook for that's a lot of food it's good that you have a stocked pantry but wow
What is the value of your supply, just curious, I maybe have a tiny fraction of that, im already at like 2000
Not sure honestly. Probably couple thousand dollars. I know all the meat was over a thousand
My dream is to have enough room one day for a large pantry like this.
Me too .. all upstairs in its own room lol.. My knees are not the greatest at 52 and will only get worse.. we can dream lol
HOW DO YOU MAKE THE LABELS on the containers?
Just use Google docs and print out and tape them on
My biggest problem is rotating stock. I just recently went through and found an entire sack full of canned goods and boxes that were past their expiration date.
I'm sure they are still good. I have had that happen too and it's all still good past best buy date.
They can be good years from Best Buy date😊
Those arbitrary dates are another big fat $cam. Even the you-ess-dee-A admits it. Don't believe me? Look for yourself.
I never buy more than a six month supply of a certain food with the same expiration date. And yes you generally can use canned goods beyond the BBF date. Acidic foods can leach through cans though.
I am learning thats the way to do it too. I had to learn the hard way on some things when I was starting this journey. @@ericgeorgetruckgrilling
You could feed a small country
Food goes quick when you have 4 mouths to feed.
How long have you been prepping? I'm on 2nd year, not as much as you have for sure
I have been at this for over 7 years.
At this point how long do you think your preps would last ?
Well all my freeze dried and lds stuff will last unopened about 25 years. Not really sure on regular foods as I rotate out and replace as I see gaps. O know we would be good for a couple years at least. We have another location that is stocked with freeze dried foods and non perishables as well so we would be comfortable few years I would say
