If it parks like the CRV my wife has ,,I’m in ! I’ve drove trucks or full size ford vans all my life , I just don’t like the ride any more , and they are more difficult to maneuver . These get so much hate but they're a decent pickup for people that don't need a full sized one to go to the job site. These are perfect for home depot and Costco runs.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed, this really is a niche truck. I have a long daily commute, spending a lot of time behind the wheel. So a comfortable, relatively quiet ride is nice to have. I won't go off-road, but have projects that require a truck bed and towing that will fall within the 5,000 lb towing capacity. That works for many suburban/urban users, but certainly not all, to be sure.
I just bought a 2023 RTL and absolutely love it. The cargo capacity is class leading with over 1500lbs. I plan on using mine to tow a small camper (tear drop) that weighs about 2500lbs GVW and the occasional Home Depot runs. I also love the 3.5 V6 ! I don’t think the reliability of a 4cyl Turbo is comparable, Chevy is having issues with the Colorado’s. I think unless your using it for construction or towing a 10K lb load its 90% of what pick-up owners need, just my .02, thanks
I like how Honda has kept this steering wheel design along with the steering buttons on the Ridgeline. It reminds of the 2016-2017 Accords interior , which is definitely a very good memory
It means out of date in another way. Japanese companies are kinda behind with new technologies. US manufacturers are using full lcd cluster almost every new car. The infotainment and cluster makes the truck look like 5 year old 😢
Hi could you verify where is the location of the oil filter? is it inside or between stabilizing bar/arm? has anyone reported issues regarding the odd location of the oil filter?
Thanks! super detailed information! The only think I don't like about it is that it doesn't have heated steering wheel The HPD trim is kind of "lifted" and gives that off-road look..
So funny that some guys will never admit that the Ridgeline is the best truck for 90% of all truck owners. They will claim that they can't go off roading or trailering a tractor when in reality they never will need to do!
99.9 percent of pick up owners drive on pavement. If there is some off road its on a dirt road. I might go to a Ridgeline just for the ride. I have a 2019 Ram 1500 now and am ready for something a little smoother and practical.
True, even for the slight off-roading that I do, I’d rather have a Tacoma like I do. Way more capable and more fun for me to mod. So it depends on what the goal of the vehicle is for.
I think for $45k you should be getting a FAR FAR classier interior. It looks very plastic and "plain jane" for such an expensive truck. The same can be said about the Passport. One thing about GMC is they make a VERY beautiful truck even the Canyon is quite nice compared to this.
You keep saying "this isn't the truck for me" like three times. We get it as it seems like you are subliminally comparing this to a CRV. Then it dawned on me, a Tacoma guy reviewing a Ridgeline.
Yea I own a Tacoma, but that didn’t effect this video…the Ridgeline is a unibody vehicle based on a Honda pilot/odyssey and my fiancé owns a CRV, so I can compare the two since I have seat time in that Honda, it’s a very similar vehicle.
It's about 7 inches. This really isn't off road focused. Great for road use. But the Tacoma or Colorado would be the best off road since they have over 9in and plenty of lift kits available with better off road capabilities
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I'm definitely a Honda guy as I've always driven them and I recently did test drive a Ridgeline but I'm torn between it and the frontier I will not buy american-made vehicle since they don't last nearly as long as Japanese
The $40k Price alone justifies not worth getting it over your mid size trucks. It's just stupid. Less towing and payload, no 4x4, and only marginal better MPG. It would be best if priced at $25k
This desperately needs a whole new redesign. Also, that ZF9 transmission is hot garbage and unreliable. Stay away from it. Hopefully Honda will put in the far superior in house 10 speed transmission for next gen.
I'm sure that will be coming soon! Honda goes awhile before redesigns. But what's been your ownership experience with this to say the transmission isn't good? Honda is very reliable, so I'm confused by that.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed If you Google Honda and ZF9 you will get plenty of hits. I had a 2019 Passport Elite bought brand new at the time. Transmission completely failed and died at only 8k+ miles. It started to slam and I knew it was going. Honda would not do anything with out a CEL and everything checked out per scans. Sure enough on the way home couple months later, boom and it happened. I was so pissed! 😤 Yes they replaced it with another new one under warranty but I got rid of it after.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Consumer Reports testing is 13 mpg city, which is "real" city driving. The highway mpg testing is 29, that is great for mid size truck.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed It's right but this is real city driving, which means stop and go in short distances. They rated my Titan at 11 mpg city, just about right, I might be able to squeeze 12 out of it. Combined driving I get 15 mpg, on the road is 21 mpg. I would think that the Honda would get about 18 -20 combined driving.
For 45k why would you choose this when you can get a more powerful 100% better looking GMC Canyon at4 or Chevy Colorado Trail boss Those trucks are gorgeous , even a new Ranger and all new Tacoma look way better than this! GMC over 400 pounds of torque , Ridgeline 280 , lol this is really changing your thoughts!
Only reason that I can think of would be that the buyer would want it to last more than 45,000 miles without spending weeks and thousands of dollars in the repair shop. My 2019 Canyon Denali has been a lemon with five significant repairs at the dealership ranging from a blown heater core and carpet replacement to three electrical problems, failed fuel system control module and now going back in because the louvers in the grill won't close. Canyon is a great looking truck - but quality control is lacking - in a way it's subsidized by the consumer with their extended warranties. ....they are a bit different looking - only one I would consider is the white black edition
Because the Ridgeline drives/rides better on the road. The comfort use of space in the truck. The lockable watertight in-bed trunk. No others have come with that large space. Hyundai Santa Cruz can probably hold a backpack laying flat a couple. The new Canyon has a storage space inside tailgate. It could hold a jacket some some bungee maybe skinny fishing pole. Ridgeline can hold Igloo BMX 52 cooler, luggage, power tools, weapons for hunting.
Do they ride better on-road or daily driving. Probably not they haven't over the years. This is compared with 1st and 2nd Generation. The others can tow more. However when you compared payload numbers. The Ridgeline can haul more than some of the midsized Body-On Frame pickup trucks. Tacoma TRD off-road that sell alot. The Ridgeline cabin is bigger so can fit 5 inside. The bed is shallow but wider and can fit 4×8 sheets of plywood laying flat in it's Bed. This is something the new Ford Ranger is claiming it can do. The Ridgeline was doing it back in 2017. If you look at Consumer Reports test Ridgeline scores way better in Overall scores and Road Test scores. If people don't like CR Motor Trend and Car and Driver rate Ridgeline high always. Ridgeline is not a workhorse pickup truck. Currently it's not climbing rock's either. But a long vacation trip of 1,000 mile drive it won't beat you up like conventional Body-On Frame pickup truck. Especially the midsized trucks. It's Pilot and Acura MDX roots help this. The cabin space when you flip up rear 60/40 seats. The new Canyon, Ranger or Tacoma can't match that. So when your hauling cargo inside. That's why it's been called a Practical Pickup Truck or Thinking Man's Pickup or Gentleman's Pickup Truck. So if you not towing over max 5,000lbs. Not rock crawling. Then check the Payload Capacity numbers of some of the Body-On Frame pickup trucks. The Ridgeline might be way more or on par.
