      it's a pain to play, when he gets the melody, he sings to high to play it comfortably, also thats what I like about his voice, its like mine, only if I could sing a bit higher, because I got the low ground covered but after I became a bass I couldn't be hired as a singer anymore because I dont have the bariton part of most music in my full voice, but I can at least do alto voices and bass II :L

    • @vexstudios5871
      @vexstudios5871 7 лет назад +4

      Eredaane I'm so confused. You say you can't hit baritone notes because your voice doesn't go high enough, but then you later say you can hit alto. Alto is higher than baritone. It goes bass, baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo soprano, then soprano. So how are you hitting an alto when you supposedly can't hit a baritone or tenor.

    The very first note of the entire piece, is wrong. The beginning of each phrase, in the "original" and in the pentatonix arrangement (I checked just to make sure) is the third to the fifth, in this case the first note of each phrase at least for the first few measures should be a concert D and you start each phrase with an Eb.

    • @treyjohnson8178
      @treyjohnson8178 7 лет назад +2

      This arrangement has about 47 things wrong with it. The lyrics literally say "It goes like this, the fourth..." and the trumpet part doesn't follow the chord change to the 4.

  • @MrShyguyRS
    @MrShyguyRS 7 лет назад +12

    I play in an orchestra, so I might be a little confused. Do the different instruments read the same clef differently? I was noticing A Bb pairings as well as D Eb pairings using classical reading. And why do the parts have different key signatures? Accidentals exist and it makes for a neater score

    • @AmericanIdiot2002
      @AmericanIdiot2002 7 лет назад +7

      Yes, each instrument is in a different key, trumpet is in Bb, french horn is in F, and all of the low brass are in concert pitch. The different key signatures are a result of that, since the trumpet is is Bb there are no extra flats needed, since horn is in F you only have to add 1 flat since the key of F only has 1 flat.
      Trumpets and horn both read treble clef the same as in E G B D F but a D on trumpet is different than a concert D since the instruments are pitched differently. I could probably explain this better or with more detail if you need but this is the shortest and most basic way I could explain.

    • @HeroMine

    • @gtran2536
      @gtran2536 7 лет назад

      Julius Trenkler band instruments are in a different pitch. The name of their pitch is determined by what their C is called in concert pitch

    • @Draiyu
      @Draiyu 7 лет назад

      Yes. Trumpets play in the key of Bb, whereas horns play in the key of F. A C to a trumpet player is an F to a horn player and vice versa. If this were in a concert pitch format, there would be accidentals and a consistent key signature.

    • @007blond
      @007blond 7 лет назад +1

      The concert key is B flat, so the low brass key signatures have two flats. Horn adds one sharp, or takes away one flat, so they’re reading in F (a perfect fifth up from concert B flat Major). B flat Trumpets add two sharps or take away two flats, so they read in C major (a major second above B flat)
      but it all is heard as B flat

  • @NickRoels
    @NickRoels 7 лет назад +14

    You're not supposed to have parallel fifths like you do between the trumpets :///

    • @RobertShepley1
      @RobertShepley1 7 лет назад +17

      Nick Roels That's more a "rule" for part writing in the baroque and classical era, and even those guys broke it a ton.
      Parallel fifths have a use nowadays in "pop" harmony, and since this is a nearly direct transcription of what Pentatonix sings, it's pretty allowable. You could shift things around to make the writing "correct" but it wouldn't really have the same feel, ya know?

    • @NickRoels
      @NickRoels 7 лет назад +2

      Well yeah people use it nowadays but then again nowadays people use the same four chords. If its a direct transcription of what they are singing then definitely no harm done to the arranger of this brass piece. But pentatonix should know better than to be using fifths between two voices.
      My point is that just because it's used nowadays doesn't mean it's musically talented or interesting to the well-trained ear. It just ends up sounding like a medieval something or other.

    • @kortaesyonce8474
      @kortaesyonce8474  7 лет назад +14

      Nick Roels well that's more of a rule for classical music and part writing. those rules have pretty much been abandoned with the new music.

    • @acont15
      @acont15 7 лет назад

      Yes, this is an arrangement not a composition. In the pentatonix, like most popular music parallel 5th's are being used everywhere because its easy and sounds "nice". However the tuba part is way to high at the end. Playing it down the octave will create a darker fuller sound with better balance.
