Well, actually Hayabusa is not closer to Hanabi and never wanted to be a couple with her, besides, in the new Lore Hanabi is no longer so dependent on Hayabusa And it also seems to me that Hanabi is more suitable for Hanzo, considering that in Lore she seemed to stay with Hanzo after the shinobi war.
To me Hayabusa and Hanabi look more like siblings, from the similar style and color pallete, as well as their personalities seem quite similar with how edgy they can be with some of their quotes. Thats why I prefer the old lore
