Metal elitists, and fans from decades ago who don’t like their new style, are the ones who don’t like the album, or give it a chance for real. Same thing happened with The Stage, just on a smaller scale. For me, this album is fucking great, and I love the fact that a lot of people don’t like it. It wasn’t what anyone expected, but that’s everything that Avenged Sevenfold is. No album sounds alike to another album of theirs. Also, a lot of people are legitimately bashing them, disrespecting them, abusing them online, all because they don’t like the new album. It’s crazy to me. The perfect example is that bald dude with glasses that does music reviews- this guy legitimately attacked the band for no reason. Instead of giving it a proper chance, and going through what you like and don’t like, he resorted to shitting on their music on an entirely unnecessary level. Bottom line, people have no respect these days, especially behind a screen, and it’s sad to see that it infiltrates even the most beautiful genre of art (music)
Man I hate fantano with a passion, and pretty much disagree with him on almost every metal review, but I mean he didnt attack the band? He just doesnt like the album and even reiterated that he doesnt hate the band members
@@mirkecWiihe attacked their music by not just saying what he didn’t like and why, he always had to add a sting, add unnecessary mean comments etc. I’ve seen bad reviews, but no one was as toxic as him I’m pretty sure he did it because he had to get the video past 10 minutes long and he just ran out of things to say lol.
@@PoliAstroNyeah, he always does that. Just look at some of his metal/prog reviews, the things he says makes me want to punch a hole in a wall. But tbh I dont take him seriously anymore so I just laugh at the dumb shit he says (like Nic Nocturnal does)
The headbanging stopping and curious face when the lyrics come in was my same reaction. That guitar work, the drums, slow bass and synths reafirming in the back, plus the dark poetry sound like the perfect representation for my intrusive thoughts before coming back to "reality" with a great drop lol
1. It takes some time getting used to the sound, and they aint got no patience 2. They generally dont like progish stuff 3. The vocals sound a bit off sometimes, the effects can also be weird 4. They dont like change 5. It took them 7 years to release this and fans just wanted more of the 2000s stuff 6. 'We love you' is a really werid single and it got memed hard because of the "more" part, also even 'nobody' wasnt that well received so the hate bandwagon basically started there For the record, I love this album
I thought the "more" hate was interesting cause those verses are the only reason I like that song. Just goes to show theres something for everyone I suppose 🤷♂️
Some songs took longer for me to like than others, (D)eath and Life is but a Dream are the two songs I don't listen to because they're just not my thing, but overall I love this album
That Koi No Yokan shirt is awesome! One of my favorite Deftones albums for sure. Great reaction again as well, I’m glad you all are enjoying the album as much as I am!
I don't think you guys have done anything from their "City of Evil" album yet. I would give "The Wicked End" off that album a listen. Seems like a song you would both enjoy based on your reactions so far.
I think it's about how everything is manufactured, and "fake" in modern life. Hence the plastic daisies line. And I don't think the hell he's talking about is the literal dying and going to hell. It's the living hell modern society has created here on earth.
At first I didn’t really know what to think about the album as a whole, I’ve seen a lot of other people say that the album’s a grower and that you’ll get it more after a couple listens, which is exactly how it was for me too (which was the same for The Stage as well), I know it might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I appreciate the fact that they try to take risks and evolve their music
Love the reaction!! This song is badass!! I'm telling you, the more you listen to this album, front to back, it will grow on you and you will love it!!!
I believe fans being divided on this album is mainly due to the contrasting genres of some of the songs to the usual A7X genre, and also due to the theme of the album being about an existential crisis which could lead to all these crazy different songs to how A7X usually sounds
For me its crazy to think that if Avenged didnt make this album it wouldnt make sense. As in although its not what alot of people were expecting it still ended up feeling like its something that had to happen.
"Beast and The Harlot" is a song off of an album you guys haven't touched it. It's hard to describe with words. Would highly recommend you guys checking it out. Love the content and your guys' positive energy
Going from a somewhat traditional Metalcore sound to proggy Avant-garde will do that to your fanbase! For better or worse, the band also committed to a very organic and live sounding production.
I didn’t appreciate a lot of their work the first time I heard it. It was the same with this record. Listened through it once and thought it was just OK. But over a few days I would listen to it again and again and now I think it is awesome. It’s not my favorite album (yet; my favorite is probably Nightmare overall, and my initial reaction to Nightmare was pretty much the same as Life Is But A Dream) Edit: for reference, Bat Country was the first song I heard on the radio, and my first purchased album of theirs was their self titled album
You gotta check out The Stage by Avenged Sevenfold, that track came out in 2016. If you want something different/older by Avenged, check out The Wicked End 🤘🏼
The song is about realizing that everything in this world is "fake" and commercialized. Even the way we perceive the world isnt really how the world is. But its also how we commercialize everything, the water we drink we pay for, the air we breathe, nature, you have to pay to see it ect.
This album rocks, but i think a lot of the hate started on the album before this one, where they started really experimenting with advanced orchestral implentation and odd key/time signature changes. The Stage would be a great one to react to, my personal favourite A7X song, though its probably their most well received song in a decade. Thanks for the video guys!
Brooks’ drumming sometimes goes under the radar because of how incredible Brian is 🥹 but the drumming on this track is just a masterpiece, Wackerman is a legend, a GOD!
This song is like being told about the promised land, and when you get there, it isnt really that, i love the song, and the whole album, i can understand some thinking hey this disent sound like any A7X i heard before, to me that is only good, i love much of the older stuff, and i love their new project, that is very diffrent.. i still got days where i listen to this album, from start to finish, i think thats the best way listing to it. Mr Shadows also did have what you call a ego death experince at a Shamens place, he inhale some stuff, and the soul should then leave the body, this is very represented in the song Nobody, and Matt said, so you dont relly know if its real, or its something happening in a ego death experince?? well something to wonder about..
There's an interview with Matt he says it's like the Truman show. The film with Jim Carrey where the world is all fake. Masterful writing throughout the album.
You have to be older to appreciate an album like this because the lyrics really resonate. If your young, or not a musician it might just be weird. A7x is not creating a new young fan base with this album. And thats ok.
I'm young and barely a musician and this is in my top 2 favorite records of all time. I also have some friends who really like this record because of all sorts of different reasons. I agree they aren't making a huge young fanbase, but there is a small one, and I'm apart of it :)
Fans are divided because some of them still compare a7x to their old songs, which were really good song. And for this latest album it's more like they're expressing their passion in music, without caring about commercial interests
try react liitle piece of heaven - self tiltled album hail to the king - hail to the king album (tribute to old band like metalica, GNR, pink floyd) the stage and exist - the stage album
The lyrics here are from the point of view of a robot. He describes what he is built out of. He tries to assemble a meeting of his brethren, as he's smelled plastic flowers, and their fate sucks. It's called Mattel because just like that company made millions of Hot Wheels, a future company (Tesla?) will build millions of robots. For next song, from this album try Beautiful Morning or We Love You. Since you like their recent proggy stuff, I'll suggest a couple off their prior album The Stage: either Exist (15 minutes!) or the title track, both are jammers.
Oh man, I hope y’all get away from their new shit, this album isn’t very good. This song is ok, but you can hear in his voice he’s not 100percent healed from his vocal surgery or he’s just forever changed because of it.
I’m sure your voice is not the same as it was years ago too. Anyways, if you couldn’t tell by now, they love the album and have fun with every song. And I agree with them. to each their own
Its a different technique, not sure why he did it because live he sounds way way WAY better. But yeah the album is great, just not for everyone, they seem to be enjoying it
Their new album should be listened from top to bottom serially! Thats a masterpiece album, monumental creation for music world!
This album is incredible, never been a fan of A7X, but this, this is just something special.
That bridge is just so good, gives me goosebumps with the drumming, vocal melody, and solo on the synth
