Even if you prefer Mike and Junior, you have to admit Robert Hartshorne's music perfectly fits the tone of The Great Discovery. Mysterious, epic, cheery, so much variety in the movie. It's great.
I personally liked the Jack's Pack music he did, I really love rhe background electric guitar riff he gave. Imagine if Paul K. Joyce and Keith Hopwood composed the music for Thomas, it could be a blessed or curse.
4:22 when I hear this tune, I think of the scene where Thomas was trying to lower the heavy support beam of the suspension bridge in Calling all Engines
it’s also heard in Dream On as well where Thomas goes up Gordon’s Hill with a train of stone, but gets dragged back down due to it being too heavy for him
I tend to say that the HiT era had the best music instrumentation (would have loved for Mike and Junior to adapt their scores into the the more stripped-down acoustic style of the Hartshornes’ music from S8-12), visual quality, and scenery. It just had some of the worst episodes and choices of characters for them.
It’s because of footage from Percy and the Bandstand, Calling all Engines, The Great Discovery, Chickens to School, Wash Behind Your Buffers, Gordon and the Mechanic, Henry and the Flagpole etc

Man, the HIT era music was something different. It's so amazing, good God, it's too underrated
GET THIS MAN A-😌true.
Even thought he will never top Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell's music, Hartshorne did make some nice music.
Agreed
Percy and the bandstand, Gondon and the engineer and Wash behind your buffers are the greatest episodes from this era and have great music
I personally think the hole Hit-Era along with the music is heavily underrated.
4:21 is my most favorite theme, because I like how intense the music gets
I agree that all these themes are very underrated but there’s so many others i would’ve put on

@@yoville73 yes that too

This is Great & what I've been looking for my series, (mostly) clean instrumentals of some themes. Thanks 😎👍
Hartshorne went full orchestra with Halloween lol
You forgot the music when the news that Thomas was found spread all across Sodor in "the great discovery"
Some Of It Sounds Like It Could Come From The Miller Era.
17:56 also used as donald and douglas theme in the season 7 u.s episodes
God I love the Emily knows best opening theme
He should make this for the nitrogen era it has some straight bangers
11:20 is my favourite
Oh hey, its back, but why did it disappear innthe first place anyway?
I’m just wondering why it’s blank.

Awesome finds... do you have more since the NS Instrumentals account got purged?
All I would quite like are the themes from Emily and the Special Coaches/Billy's theme, that is actually quite nice
