Good job young man. Enjoyed watching your work on this 450. Back in the day I did the same job. At 83 I can only watch, thank you for the come-a-long.....RT
Ya did good. I'll have to do the same thing on my 1976 Case. If all else fails get a bigger hammer 👌. When I purchased mine it had new tracks with an alligator links.
Thanks so much for your videos really needed it just got 2 1984 John Deere 450 bulldozer need to fixed couple things including the engine swap if I don't learn how to work with this machine im going to be on 🔥 problem so thankful
I tried to do what you did, but when I slide idler forward I left the adjuster bolted on and tried to pull it out.... the piston stayed while the cylinder tube came off... I've tried getting the piston out, but it's stuck in there pretty good. Do you have any advice to get it out of there?
After watching several bulldozer repair videos I think the moral of the story is if one wants to work on a bulldozer it is best if that one also has a backhoe!
It wasn't as hard as it looked I had a cone a long on hand just didn't need it, all the struggle was just getting the alignment just right. The backhoe did the heavy lifting
excellent. very well done. A major help to me in my repair. Thank you,

Or a skid steer but that’s even more money
My piston didnt come out with the track tensioner, its stuck in the hole it sits in, any suggestions, I cant pull it out its so stuck
Half inch threaded rod up there into the piston about half turn should catch it enough to pull it out
parts price ? thanks
Next time try use a 2" ratchet strap to pull them together not your back! Lol keeping top the tight with the backhoe like you did
