GRT Ranch adventures
Добавлен 28 мар 2008
As I learn through trial and error I bring anyone interested along on my adventure of rasing cattle in Oklahoma! I have alot to learn and the work never ends. My goal is mostly to document my journey like a sort of online journal and maybe help someone out who goes through the same problems I will encounter over the next few years, I have learned alot from other content creators and hope to provide some useful information and experience, as I gain it, to the platform.

I can’t get my drum back on. I don’t see any adjustment for the shoes to bring them in.
Try using a ratchet strap around the shoes to compress them there's not really any adjustment on them
Watching you try to get that tongue back on, I don't think you were on the struggle bus, it ran over you, backed up, and did it again. It's interesting to me to watch something being worked on that I've never experienced. I grew up helping my grandfather and father in their small town ag repair shop, and my whole life has been spent in the maintenance, repair field.
@@naj370 it was a challenge for sure
thanks
This thing only weighs 11500 . I have a newer 450C that weighs 12000. Also those rear sprockets are shot. Looks like a good one to fix up.
Do you have the wiring scheme for a 450 dozer?
What about removing the delivery valve instead the rotor? That can be challenging if stuck.
What’s the part number for that entire governor assembly where can I find one anybody!?!?!?
question for all...i have been searching the net (I know dangerous) about gl4 and gl5 gear oil. my 480D manual says GL4 reading everything it says GL5 is bad for synchros and yellow metal is there any of that in the transaxle/dif? I know the power shuttle uses trans hyd fluid....any help is appreciated
Question: Do you have to bleed the pump to remove any air?
@@MrHammGutsnGlory no it's gravity fed so it will prime itself
I use the same filter strap for my TN 65 as I do to remove, replace and headspace any custom Mauser barrel among a million other tasks requiring a GI Joe with Kung Fu grip. As well, a 50/50 mix of synth. ATF & acetone? It’ll break loose any frozen threaded connect on Earth. Search filter strap removal tool and buy the best. Quitchurbitchin’ and go old skool like your forefathers did. Use my ideas, I’ll send you a bill when you’re high as gas on success. Use your head fer sumpin’ besides a hatrack lmao. You’re welcome
I PUT ON A QUALITY LINK BELT 9 YEARS AGO 5 MINUTE JOB STILL WORKS

Why didn't you just use the gauge manifold to recharge the system
@@Bs-ir2tn didn't have an adapter to connect it to the bottle of refrigerant. The adapter that comes with the bottle has a low pressure gauge so you don't need the gauge manifold to fill the system but there's no way to connect the vacuum pump without it.
Yeah it took a lot of time finagling stuff to get it out. Then I found some bearing cage metal in the bottom so one of the bearings is damaged and I can’t get to it…. Gonna have to split 1 day anyhow. I watched your videos prior to working on mine so thanks!!
I just changed my hydraulic pump without splitting the tractor. It was a long process. Removed the crossover tubes and the hydraulic filtering system for the hydraulics then took the bottom plate off. I had to shove a board under bottom plate to prop it up so I could remove the 2 bolts for pick up tube. While I was in there I changed the pump. It was pretty loose. So new gaskets, seals, o-rings, cleaned everything out etc. in retrospect might have been less time involved to split tractor. It was a real PIA to get the new gasket and bottom plate on while propping the plate up to reattach pick up tube. Oh, had to unbolt and prop up/ pull back slightly steering column too.
@@boatman19607 ya I figure it's probably time saved to just split it as much as it would suck
Can you sand a link to the shop that rebuilt them ot at least let me have a phone number.. It might be cheaper for me to send mine there
Just take that snap ring off while pressing on the inner piece and it will come apart super easy. I just did one here at home. There's not much pressure pushing against that snap ring.

I like fixing. Old stuff not buying the new stuff, but if it aint broke, don't fix it.
@@bigred350x9 ya but this time it was real broke lol
@GRTRanchadventures I would have heated up, drilled it and tapped it. Thread a boat and put a slide hammer on there.
@@bigred350x9 ya I'll fix it later so I can have a spare but the truth is I had already bought the new arm as a spare so I just used it lol

@@kevinkelleher7868 yup your good they are interchangeable and compatible to mix or do a full replacement if you hand to evacuate the system

belt part number?
Question, what steering fluid do you recommend?
@@Jupiter7Nonot on a 580b universal tractor fluid same as you put it n the hydraulic tank
Why didn't you use the outriggers to raise the backhoe instead of cutting the bucket down? 9:13
@@kenbaker2850 I don't like working under equipment that's only held by hydraulics and I don't have any stands stout enough to support the backhoe
My ford 4500 kill switch broke so I replaced it with a choke cable also. Way cheaper to just go to autozone and by a choke cable than to go to ford and buy the actual part. Just got a 580b last weekend so I am here to learn a thing or two.
Did you hone the bushes after reaming?
@@jonkutsch6171 no in this case the reamer left a really nice finish and in my opinion cross hatching is not necessary on oil injected bushings/bearings, but that's just my opinion I could be wrong. That said the dozer runs great now with no signs of excessive wear or trouble after the 20 hour oil change.
yes. I use a 340 grit 14mm hone. The hone actually makes the bore more true too. I found it almost impossible to make an exact hole using a hand reamer especially if you did it by hand and that's why a drill works best but make sure the reamer spins straight in the chuck of the drill.Take your time on the first one and use it to adjust the reamer with it and if a little tight on the shaft use the hone to get your clearance. FYI the OEM shaft I got was .002 smaller in diameter than the original so the new Genuine rocker was too loose.
@@GRTRanchadventures I found the hand reamer is impossible to leave to true round hole and that's why I use a drill but still it's a little off so honing will true the hole and knock down the high spots.
@@jonkutsch6171 be careful, you cannot hone a hole straight, just because it measures good all the way through the hole could be banana shaped. A reamer will produce a straighter hole but not perfect, the best result would be from boring the holee in a lathe or milling machine. Moral is, don't rely on inaccurate tools for precision surfaces. I know the adjustable reamer is not perfect but it is still orders of magnitude more accurate than a hone.
@@GRTRanchadventures correct. The hone helps with crosshatch and can remove .0005-.001 for final fitting.
So, how many inches is the belt?
Can't seem to find basket case cylinder rebuild

@@GRTRanchadventures sweet man thanks so much. I was concerned because it was V packing, and a two piece pistion. Causing me to think it had a torque spec. I appreciate you very much and thanks for your help!!!

my cousin lives across the street from you

Dam good video, you saved my ass!
cool. thanks
I use a rechargeable drill with the reamer and ream to the OD of the pin and hone the clearance to .001.
Is there a filter for the final drive system?
Thanks for the tip about dropping the front bumper plate piece off.
Anyone know what oriface tube to use on a New Holland tl90 tractor ? Also, where it is located. ?
I fast forwarded to this video to the end hoping to see you actually lift these on and off with forklift. Didn't get to see that, lol, but I did get to see why I didn't think it was such a cool method. The point of the project, at least as I see it is for one person to be able to drive up and lift them off. But with this setup, you need a second person to hold the wire rope up while you drive the forklift in. Which basically eliminates the benefit of the project in the first place. My version would be too weld a piece piece of steel to the E Trac clip that could extend above the side board. Then I would set it up so that I could easily attach either a chain or cable snuggly between the two fabricated pieces of steel. At that point there would be space between the top of the sideboard and the chain or cable. Then with just one person, I could drive up and lift it off.
lol 👍
Olá boa tarde! Tudo bem? Otimo video muito boa explicação. Como faço pra acessar o catalogo de peças ou manual de servico mecânico desse modelo de retroescavadeira. Tenho uma dessa aqui no Brasil e esta com problema no pacote de reversão,do anda pra trás. Queria manual pra poder desmontar e compra peças certas. Desde ja obrigado pela atenção.
Where did you get your parts and the SPEC Sheet.
Long winded, couldn't listen to all the talking. Came for 580 content/info
Sorry this was when I first started making videos so I didn't know anything about doing it. I think I've gotten better over the years I'll do another video soon that's more concise.
My guess is when you got done rebuilding your injection pump it was air bound. I had the same problem and I hooked up an electric fuel pump to the injection pump and hook my drill to the driveshaft turned the fuel pump on and spun it with the drill. It took about a minute and the injection pump was pumping just fine.
Wtf
How much land you on? Looks vast!
never enough lol
Symptoms as to why you rebuilt it?? Have one and trying to narrow down clutch pressure issue
👍
Congratulations on all the new tools and that fluffy puppy
Good job young man. Enjoyed watching your work on this 450. Back in the day I did the same job. At 83 I can only watch, thank you for the come-a-long.....RT
I know this video is older ,but at roughly 12 min in ,when u pulled the pump body off out came the bottom of the old weight cage with it still attached to the rotor with the snap ring than out came the new weight cage .Did you just stack the new weight cage assy on top of the old cage bottom plate and reassemble the last round. Something doesn’t look right . The new cage should be in place on top of the rotor with the timing mark transferred from the old plate and that old bottom plate should not be anywhere in that pump anymore.
Maybe you should build some tracks for it, that way you could get it lifted at the same time & never get stuck. There are vids on here of building tracks.
That will work better than asaba said. Are you sure we're not Can folks? LOL 😅😂
