- February 12, 2000 - After a league-wide, lockout-induced All-Star Weekend hiatus in 1999, Utah Jazz guard Jeff Hornacek returned to the fold in 2000 to successfully defender his 3-Point Shootout title. His 13-point final round total left him vulnerable to defeat, but runner-up Dirk Nowitzki countered with just 11. Hornacek, playing in his final NBA season, had a busy evening. Earlier, he teamed up with the WNBA's Natalie Williams to win the 2Ball Competition.
He's lowest fg.% in a season was 454 I believe, incredible shooter.
Being from Utah I grew up a jazz and Hornacek fan and as a kid I remember Jeff Hornacek showing a group of us kids while in junior jazz in Payson Utah how to shoot 3 pointers and his range was insane he shot with such ease full court and half court shots nothing but net!
My nickname for him as a Jazz fan was ---- 'Prego'
because Prego spaggetti sauce had a commercial that said
" Prego ......its iN there "
won the 3-pt shootout in his final season, kinda gangster
Still can't believe this guy was a walk on in college
Can you imagine how hard to break this record.
1.Be a champion
2.score less than half
He looks like a coach more than a player but he sure was pretty good lol
I’m a pretty good shooter and Steve Kerr and Jeff Hornacek helped me get there
Smooth stroke.
This type of shooting wouldn't get him out of the first round in today's competition
Yea 15-18 is like considered low lmao
@@Antbeast23 Sabrina would have beaten him handily
No, they changed how the contest is scored now. They have an entire moneyball rack now. If not for that, current participants would score about the same.
it wasnt a good showing for back then either.
He was lucky that its about just beating the other guys .. and they had bad nights too so he squeeked out (but deservedly) with the trophy.
There were better rounds even in the 80s .
This was dissapointing for Hornacek but again luckily he still beat the others.
His legs were almost chopped liver in his last two seasons.
You can tell the first rack he doesn’t like shooting from the side. Both rounds he shit terrible from there. Great player though. I remember watching him, Stockton, Malone, Etc... on the Jazz back when Basketball was good and physical. Not all these cry babies like Lebron!
Shot, not shit lol.
Man 15-16 is considered low now lmao
In fairness, a 16-point final round for the win was also pretty low back then, too. The year prior, Steve Kerr won with a 22-point final round.
Moreover, only 30 points per round were possible at the time, as opposed to 40 now. Kerr's score on a 40-point scale would have been closer to 29 if accounting for percentage of total points secured.
He beat nowitzki and ray allen?? Wow...those two guys defeated lebron
They defeated a lot of guys what’s your point.
Nowitzki beat Lebron in the Finals. Allen won a ring for Lebron
Why am I watching the 2000 NBA 3pt contest? Wtf.
What's wrong with that?
2000 All Star Weekend might have been the best ever if you ask me. Good 3 point contest, best Dunk Contest ever, the rookie challenge, the game, it was a good one!
He jumps a lot for a 3 point contest
The taller guys like Bird and Dale Ellis didn't need to get their legs into it as much.
No STEPHEN CURRY for NBA ALL-STAR GAME 2000, JEFF HORNACHEK during the 3 point contest in OAKLAND, CA
Home of GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
13 is low to win the 3p contest
Kendrick Perkins look at this
wth was Allen Iverson doing in a three point shootout? he was like a 30 pct three pt scooter.
It would be better if he was in the 1997 slam dunk contest
Thats not allen iverson..it was ray allen
@marlon cabrera AI was in it too and he sucked.
Ray Allen iverson lol
