I went to my first game against Cardiff in I think it was 1967 with a Villa fan brother. This was my second game took by my other villa fan brother when I was 12. Became season ticket holder the following year as I was allowed to go on my own to the games then. How great it was then to have a full house and standing. Happy days and memories 👍🏻😀seem to remember a night game against Arsenal in the mid/late 70’s when Francis and Malcolm Mc Donald bothe scored hatricks in a 3-3 draw.
I remember watching games like this as a kid on an old Bush black and white TV and loved it thinking back. Into the 80’s when l went to footy regular, grounds hadn’t changed much but the atmosphere was just as great.Maybe took things to much for granted and would love to relive those times , everything was so much easier back then
Great days.
Our TV was a PYE with a Y...... 😂
@@wendyloo8637 Yep we did eventually upgrade to a Radio Rentals colour tv, wooohooooo👍
What a time for football. We loved him at Forest. What a player.
we loved him at Blues!
God bless him, he was the noses hero we had Andy gray. He was a proper footballer and a proper hero to the blues.
God bless him
I was at this game and TF gave Todd a torrid afternoon
That was some first half ! The mercurial TF mesmerising yet another terrified back four .
Was just to young to see him play, BUT I've had a drink with him and he's a total gentleman
Strange to think that at least 3 of that Derby team (Gemmill, Rioch and Todd) went on to play for Blues.
Pretty sure Rioch played for villa
@@pwareham61 Rioch played for Blues on loan three times in 1978. He was on loan from Derby
Not a blues fan , nor was I born at the time , but I could watch Francis play all day , never mind the overpaid proto type athletes that are today's footballers.
Trev was a great pro, played while injured, never knew him give anything less than 100%
instablaster.
Just a whole lot of magic
Trevor Francis began at Birmingham FC Div 2 aged 16 & already getting noticed. I rmbr seeing him playing Hull. Extraordinary he stayed at Birmingham FC until Clough bought him for £1mill at Forest in '79. Money wasn't what football was about until the 21st century.
I heard Cloughy said he’d refuse to pay £1m for ANY player, therefore, the transfer actually went through for £999,999.99!!! 🤣🤣
When TF came to Birmingham from Devon he would watch us in the local park. I asked him to join us. No chance, he said. You lot clobber me and it's a one way ticket home. Not that we would have caught him, he was so quick.
My first season attending St. Andrews as a blues fan, TF was the reason kro one love BCFC
Bob Hatton remember him playing at beautiful down town Bramall lane for Sheffield United 👍⚔️
I remember most of these players!
I remember this game well, but I think Derby still won the title that year while we of course at the Maine Rd nightmare to end our season, still tears on my pillow!
KRO
I was at this game I left before the end to get my train back to Derby and missed both Derby’s goals
LoL British rail bastards you can never depend on them..😅
Nureyev the ballerina would have been proud of that the dive by Francis.
I was at this with my dad and uncles, and one auntie.
wow!
Good Memories 👍
Great to see a good close up after Bruce Rioch scored for Derby.
He was my all-time Aston Villa hero.
Quality midfielder with a powerful, bombshell left-foot.
Heartbroken when he left us four months earlier but he became an even better player
performing in the top flight - I think Derby were Champions that season under boss Dave Mackay.
Mentioning Rioch in th esame breath as TF, lol..
R.I.P super Trev
I was 4 years old and only 6 months into my new home after Mom had selected a different model.
Err..?
Second penalty award is a farce. Slow it down to 0.25 playback speed in your settings and you'll see the ball superbly won by the defender and no contact made with Trevor Francis.
Watched this because of TFs recent passing. Great player. Can't say as much for the defender on that first goal. And Todd definitely got his foot to the ball on that second penalty.
But, my oh my, the ref looked like he should have been collecting his pension. At least one improvement for the modern game. No more old codgers refereeing at the top level.
Back then, nearly everyone on the pitch looked about 10 years older than they actually were. That referee was probably only 39!
Sir Trevor Francis was a magician!
That first goal, I mean yeh 1970s English defenders, but how fast was that turn. Francis would still be world class today, possibly more so in the light of the modern quick-play game and the protection offered to attackers.
The beautiful thing about these glory days watching Blues with these players was it was always worth the entrance fee... thanks for the memories!!
When my brother was small he could do impersonation of Hugh johns...lol
“That’s handball, that’s handball by Roger Davis. What a foolish young man. There was no need for that”- don’t get frank commentary like that anymore 🤣
Davis looked very guilty, could not complain.
Shocker of a dive by Francis for the second penalty.
If he was available today in the Second City,...he would definitely be with a top club like Aston Villa to have any chance
of developing his skills and winning trophies.
Aston Vila a top Club.😂😂😂😂😂
Just watched this on TV and I kid you not 2 minutes in and the camera spans onto the crowd and there is a young supporter who is a dead ringer for one of the Campbell brothers out of Birmingham regarding group ub40
Was there in the top half of the Railway end!
I was on the Tilton behind the goal, great days loved every minute.
Gemmil Todd Francis Roger Davis Howerd who else blasts from the past on show
Was this three days after Birmingham lost 2-1 at Crewe in the League Cup.
Trevor Francis.. 1st British £1M footballer !
Back then the refs were making good calls.
Keep right on 😅
proper game of football!
"Rioch with the easiest job in the world to knock it in" bruv them ones ain't easy at all 😅 maybe on the training ground but not in a match 😂
Why were Birmingham down to 10 men?
Les grands clubs étaient t-ils aveugles ?
Personne n'a sollicité Trevor Francis.
They were taught to dive I notice
Diving was a no no & disapproved by fellow pros strongly & was rare until someone called Klinsmann appeared! Then it really started.
I'm going to game tomoz
Blimey, the Blues won a game?
Roger Davis showed he could dribble about with deft touches but that hand ball. Why Roger? It was coming down anyway. He was showing his guilt & getting caught out.
TF was some player
Disgusting dive by Trevor Francis for the second penalty. Who says diving is a modern thing brought over by foreign players? He was Jurgen Klinsmann before Jurgen Klinsmann as in theatrically throwing his head back at the slightest touch.
NO V A R .
Two dodgy penalties there, and I hate Derby. Trevor Francis Birmingham and Forest legend
BURNLEY FC. RULE !
With a name like that ?
The years just fly past now especially my 68yrs. Once the 21st century came football changed. It looks like a video game. No longer watch it except for the RUclips treasure. 20yr olds watch it like I watch football in the 1930s say. It's the long hair they laff at! Comb overs like Ralph Coates that billow out with a strong wind!
That second penalty was a joke...was the ref a Forest fan?Peter Daniel didn't deserve that...he was a replacement for Roy Macfarland for most of the season & won a League Winners Medal at the end of it
