This video initially got me interested in Pure grips because of the use of compressed air for installation without 2 sided tape and solvents(I hate both). Since then, I've been installing all grips using only masking tape and compressed air. The Pure grips web site says you don't need tape, but I started using masking tape because of what I saw you doing here. Since then, I have switched to using Golfworks build up tape because it has a much rougher surface. I tried it on JumboMax Ultralites, but needed 2 wraps of tape to keep them from twisting. Of all the club building sites on RUclips, yours is my favorite. Aside from our hitting studio, I have pretty much duplicated your shop.
Pure Grips are the best to me. I have been playing the DTX for over a year now. They never loose their tackiness. I wipe them down with a damp rag and they are good to go. A few of golf buddies have now swapped to the DTX after trying out my clubs.
Just picked up a set of eye2 BeCu irons, the seller replaced the grips for me, I wasn’t expecting Pure grips, but that what I got! Happy bunny over here!
Love the Pure grips! I use the Jumbo Wraps. I use their putter grips also. Tried all three sizes and went with the standard size. Even though the oversized fits my hand well I found that the tacky feel allows me to grip the smaller size without tension and I have more control with my putter. Thanks for another great review!
@@EFGMC I think it would. At the risk of people buying out the grips, I suggest you take a good look at the STR8 Ultralites versus a "standard" Ultralite, the width is different as well being non-taper & an inch longer thank the PURE/standard grips. Put this in a wedge and you have an extra utility especially if the golfer uses the clock system. Also check out Star grips, these are cheaper than PURE. PURE apparently was started by the guy that use to work for Star but recently PURE has been too expensive compared to Star. As well, Star does not feature any logo so it's absolutely perfect in a single cog adjustable driver when you change loft. Well, if you use air on grip, then it's moot, lol.
I ordered a Pure Pro midsized to try not long ago with a driver, made the mistake of thinking I could still install with standard doublesided tape and solvent... 3 days later the night before playing, the grip was still sliding and sloshing around with solvent and had to rush and install another grip that dried by morning... Loved the feel in the hands but, gotta get a compressed air setup going before trying again.
Did they use bad solvent or something? The grips should have no issue being installed with tape and solvent it's just an option to install tapeless not a requirement
Hi there! I ordered the DTX white pure grip today. Curious - you had tape on yours, is this acceptable for the pure grips? Tape but no solvent? Is that recommended or is no tape needed whatsoever? Thanks!
Great video! I've been contemplating Pure Grips for too long and missed the sale prices😠. Are the standard size grips equivalent to say a Golf Pride standard grip?
Thanks for the video. I use the pro in a mid. You might want to take a look at your arms being in sync with the body. There is a bit of disconnect there, with the arms a little late.
Hi AJ Will they go on with just grip tape and solvent OK if you haven't got a compressed air machine. Noticed your shaft WAS taped but it does say can go on raw
I tape just to get the size up a little not for any hold related issue. You can also install these the traditional way. Might also want to watch this in case it could work for you. ruclips.net/video/WLPECfR6D_g/видео.html
AJ: any chance you can do a video on the leather grip offering like Grip Master and Best Grips. I see people say they are amazing for sweating hands but don't see any pros using them.
At what pressure do you set your compressor. I'm in Australia and have a general purpose air compressor not a tire inflater so don't want to damage the grip.
As low as possible where it still slides on. Probably try 40-50 psi to start with. Bump it a little higher if having trouble. Bursting the air can help too. Too much pressure can damage the grip
Just replaced it after it stopped working. It was made by Kobalt and was sort of X shaped. Doesn't have to be that one however. Any inflator that can produce 60psi should work.
With Compressed air you don't want to be using double sided, Pure actually just recommends that you can just go raw onto the shaft, or even use regular blue painters tape if you want to build up a grip.
I only have the fitting grips for demo purposes. I order in all my Pure grips since there are so many color, style, size combinations. Email me if you want more info adam@elitefitgolf.com
@@amgpuma I have like them in most weather conditions. That said, I am really a fair weather golfer at this point. If it's raining or under 50 degrees I probably won't be out there.

I’m in the process of trying out the Jumbo max ultralite grips. Have you thought about testing those?
I've swung them and it's completely foreign to me but other people love them. Don't think my review would be overly valuable.

I played with them for two years. The problem is they suck every bit of moisture out of your skin. Two rounds and my hands are cracking.

Which grip do you currently use? And is that neon blue a North Carolina blue?
The blue is darker then NC blue.
Thanks for the video. I use the pro in a mid.

I totally agree. Always a problem for me and right now extra issue because of a shoulder injury.
Just watch if you use tags in your grips for data tracking like Shot Scope. I had Pure grips and the sensors fell out easily and lost them.
Good tip. Could see that being an issue.
The air compressor is quick. No retaping?
How does it compare with the Winn dri tac LT grips. I use those and love them
Maybe a touch softer in the hands but a different feel than either a Winn or traditional rubber grip.

Padraig Harrington does
I might try and see if they would send me some samples.
min woo lee aswell
Do you just use regular no double sided tape then? I want to build up the standard grip.
Just plain masking tape to build up and install over that.
which pure grip is the most like the winn dri-tacs?
They all feel similar, just different texture/pattern. The Pro would be closest overall.
I want to like these but have not hit them. It will take a lot to make me give up my MCC Golf Prides
nice grip

Thank you. 🙂
AJ: How do the weights of the Pure Grips compare in standard size with some of the industry standards?
thanks, Peter
Standards are right around 50g, pretty much the standard weight for most rubber standard size grips.
I switched to non-tapered grips. Can you do some reviews on that style
The combo here was non tapered. Looking to do some more grip videos in the coming months.
Love pure grips but the price is just insane.
I know it’s 4 months later but their site is 50% off right now. I just got a full set of grips for $50
Why would a grip company not make jumbo sizes for all their grip types?
On the Pure Grip RUclips channel they talk about not using tape except at the very end. Do you recommend them with tape or without?
You can use single sided tape if you want to build up the grip some. I used a single wrap of gorilla tape and it worked great
I use the tape purely for sizing. I find one wrap of masking tape give closest result to traditional installed standard grip.

It's a Kobalt Tire Inflator.

Is there any special attachment needed to use the air compressor?
They sell a special attachment that fits over the grip for install but I honestly think just using the raft tip in the inflator works best.
@@EFGMC Thank you!
Your source say when the combo midsize is coming?
My rep said they were in the works. Have not checked on an update recently.
Is the Pro model similar to Winn Dri-Tacs?
Not quite the same. These are more like the Tour Velvet texture with the CP2 firmness as a comparison.
how would you compare them with GP CP2's Pro and Wrap?
Pretty similar firmness with different texture. Also has very soft butt cap compared to the hard cap on the CP2.
