In hindsight, his ambitions to be a teacher or in foreign service would most likely may have been the path he should’ve taken! I know it would have been a loss to us fans but my how the world would have benefited ❤️🙏

Saturday nights, sitting on the settee, cuddling my kids, whilst watching Starsky and Hutch. Then the great man started to make records, and my goodness,he could really sing. I became an avowed David Soul fan,and have this very evening purchased one of his C.D.'s on line.

Excellent interview w/David Soul! (Before "Starsky and Hutch," David also guest-starred in an episode of "The Rookies" ("A Test of Courage") and co-starred as "Joshua Bolt" in "Here Come The Brides." Both of them highly recommended!)

I lived from week to week when I was a teenager to watch "Starsky and Hutch", Hutch being my favorite and I have his 2 LP's that I am aware of that he put out. I need to dig those out and put the songs onto CD and into an ipod! David, I'm in my 50's but I sure do remember being a teen watching you, listening to every word you said!!

@@fluorosco I think we love HOW David Soul played Hutch. I wouldn't say "I love David Soul" because I don't know him at all, and his history in real life is very different from the noble Hutch. I liked his acting. Him? I don't know him so can't say.

Yes I agree. I learnt a lot from this interview about the man not the celebrity. He has grown to become a man with an interest in people & trying to resolve what he can i.e. Cuba v America. He hints at how America is propaganda and what they did to his brother. David Soul has moved on from the kick start Starskey & Hutch gave him and has used his status for a much wider good.

My parents let me stay up and watch. My mom tried for a while because it was really too late, but finally they just gave up and after that NEVER sent me to bed in the evening anymore. To keep everybody happy I went to bed on time myself the days Starsky and Hutch wasn't on tv so they let me watch when it was. And by the time S and H ended I was 18 years old.

may he rest in eternal peace

Soul speaks fluent German and Spanish, he is a well educated man. Being in the right place at the right time "Magnum Force" where he played the rogue cop Davies gave him the chance to shine and he landed the role as "Hutch". Ironically, Tyne Daley in the "Enforcer", again another Dirty Harry film landed the role in Cagney and Lacey.

Weird! I remember being a young girl babysitting for a woman who went out on a date. My younger step sister, Kim, was supposed to do the sitting, but I did it instead. I barely saw the mother go out of the house or come back home. It happened so fast. My sister said she wasn't supposed to tell me, but she told me the woman was going out with David Soul. I said, "Oh." .... I later thought, "Hum.... Like Starsky and Hutch???" So when the nice lady came home, I didn't say anything about it... because I didn't want to ask, make a fool of myself, break a confidence, or put her in a spot... I felt I should mind my own business.... Actually, I really didn't believe it, and just didn't think much more about it. -Until today. I live in, and grew up in Minnesota, Minneapolis suburb, and the time period does fit in as a possibility.... Well anyway.... That was as close as I got to David Soul. I liked your show, Starsky and Hutch, and I like your singing too, but I think I'd like to sit down with you and talk American politics. I think we think a lot alike. I've had a steep learning curve this past year. -In any case☺️, ... Thank you Mr. Soul, for sharing ALL your beautiful talents. So sorry I missed you. My best to you and your family. P.S. Minnesota, Minneapolis is STILL A BIG ARTS/THEATER/MUSIC SCENE. -Contrary to what lots of people think.,... we're much more than just Fargo and "flyover country." 😁💖Chow.☺️🙋

What a wonderful interview. It's very interesting how David's life has come full circle with cultural diplomacy being one of his first interests in life. I could sit and listen to him talk all day long. David should get more involved in politics, maybe more things would get done, I can't wait to meet this man in April, what a joy it will be.

WOW! I contribute a lot to IMDb trivia & about 3 years ago, I had published under "goofs" that Huggy Bear was Starsky & Hutch's Deus Ex-machina. Really stoked to see David say this here, 50:28 since this was uploaded in 2013, so about 4 years before I came up with the same analogy here (I never watched this until now)! Wow! Did David understand the Black gentleman's French? I did but not sure if he did, with the African accent it's a bit different.
Surprised that the female host knows French. (Is she Canadian?) And Soul's French pronunciation of a name (Jean) and of Spanish names was impeccable! My question to him would have been "what about Norway's culture?" Here we have a man who is Norwegian, a really intriguing European culture of which I know nothing. I do realize he's American (never mind his UK passport!) and I believe he has some Germany connection but he is pure Norwegian. Doesn't he want to showcase THOSE roots and maintain that culture? If no, that's a bit sad a missed opportunity for the very blond guy (very rare, blond men usually go dark in Hollywood, not sure why!)
Anyway, that's my contribution. Great interview and thanks for posting.

David Soul seems unwell here. I knew he was talented - beautiful voice and a good actor. But didn’t realize he was so multifaceted and intelligent. Interesting that he said he thought listening is the most important thing with acting - Meryl Streep has said the same thing in interviews. David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser are both interesting to listen to in interviews. And not just about Starsky and Hutch!

WHAT in the name of .. is WRONG with the women?? The Israeli keeps rambling on and on, I had to pause her. And the woman before her? WHAT THE HEY was she trying to say?? "PLURALITY"? Why such big words? I just looked the definition up, I have NO idea what I read and I doubt even she knew what she rambled on about. Certainly neither Dave nor the host knew, and it was hilarious when he simply said "thank you"! I mean there wasn't even a question there, and they were asking for QUESTIONS!
Why was everyone in the audience talking with a strong accent? Just curious, where was this? My Q would have been (to the lady): what they hey is "cultural diplomacy"?? Also, Hutch was always my favorite (I never "got" Starsky, I always thought him homely) but I just looked up his tweets: all I can say is his politics disappoint and I can't believe he is THAT clueless about what he tweeted! And PMG has aged a lot better. That is all. Oh no it's not:
A bit shocking the way he was laughing when he reported the death of director Boris Sagal, whom he did not even name! The woman next to him was shocked and he kept laughing. Really bizarre! That director was actually the father of Married With Children's Katey Sagal. Vic Morrow died the same way, and apparently he was the father of Jennifer Jason Leigh. Made me wonder if the 2 ladies ever got together, either alone or in a support group to talk.
