Of course there is only one Karen Carpenter, but I greatly appreciate Tori Holub keeping Karen's music alive for the next generation. Tori seems like a truly sweet and talented young woman, who also has a couple original songs. I wish her all the very best and hope to hear her live someday.
Angelina Jordan has a new original song, "Bad Valentine" which she worked on with songwriter Toby Gad. While the song hasn't been officially released, Toby has given James Thiel permission to post a performance of it on his RUclips channel. Hope you will react to it.
Tori's voice gives me a chill down the neck, it sounds so very close to Karen Carpenter, her vocal range is almost same and she captured the same sound.
Also, this video simultaneously demonstrates how the Carpenters actually created the music by singing all the harmony parts on separate tracks and mixing them together in final production. Amazing.
Thanks very much for your reaction. I purposefully gave you samples that had nothing to do with this song. Just so you’d know she can sing. Then there’s…this! In April Tori was one of eight invited performers at the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration. She was the youngest at 20. Only a few knew her history. She was very well received after her performance. I was there and did know, so it was thrill to see her live in only her second performance before an audience. On the last night of the 4 day event, Richard Carpenter was the surprise guest and he officially met Tori in person for the first time. He knew of her for months. She has a small library of full length songs and a bunch of short covers like I linked for you. Many styles and mostly of the 60-80’s. Currently two are originals for Tori and more is coming including her first self written song. She apparently from an interview has many self written songs, so more to explore in the coming months. And yes she knows she’s not a Karen. She’s Tori and that’s pretty darn good in my book as an OG Carpenters fan. Keeping Karen’s spirit alive in the most honorable way.

Looking at some of these comments, I will never understand why some people are so damned mean and negative. I guess it’s easier to be awful when you’re tucked away behind a keyboard. I pity those people. What a miserable life they must lead. She has a stunningly beautiful voice.
@@darkhelmet5978 I used to reply then had the hate directed at me. I just pity them now. Sadly it’s a consistent group. A group I’m a member of from the very beginning. I’ve been requesting reactions since November after being stunned by a RUclips recommendation in October. My coup was Fil. He opened the floodgates, in the best way possible. Thank you for your comment. The good far outweighs the cruel but it is sad. Interestingly, in the Olivia forums, nowhere near the hate level. Why is that? Karen would never have felt this way.

Very good voice but I could easily tell the difference between Tori & Karen.
Ironically, Karen was about 20 when they recorded this song, too. Tori has a beautiful voice and sounds a lot like Karen in the higher register but imo you can differentiate them in the lower register. I've always thought Karen's lower register to be so beautiful and distinctive from others. Just my opinion
You are essentially correct. Karen was in the “basement.” I’ve said Tori is a couple of steps down the stairs to that. Tori’s range swings higher than Kacie. Hence she can cover Olivia. I’ve seen Tori dance into Contralto range. Just not to Karen’s depth. Each is unique and special. Tori can sing and do justice to the songs Karen never did. See It’s Impossible that just dropped the other day.

Tori has all the tech if today today to enhance her voice autotune etc....Karen was pure talent. I could sound like Karen with the right technology!
Sorry, but there is no tech enhancement like auto tune, etc. used on Tori's voice. Karen was pure talent but Tori most certainly is also.
Nope, Wings of Pegasus analyzed Tori and this performance in March. No autotune, no pitch correction a natural and extremely accurate voice.
You probably can't carry a tune in a bucket.
That comment makes me think of the old saying "Better to Remain Silent and Be Thought a Fool than to Speak and Remove All Doubt."
