      Very glad to hear!! There are also many great websites to help you along your path. John Wexler's website doubleddie.com list most of the known doubled dies and rpms. There are also alot of great groups or forums you can join. I know the Variety and Error coin group on facebook has alot of experts in this feild, including many well known authors on the topic. You will learn more in that group then anywhere else i know of. Heres a link if you wish to join. facebook.com/groups/1431053980480237/
      Also we do have a forum on our website varietyerrors.com feel free to join in conversation there as well.
      We are working on many more videos, and have a few already in production and will have posted very soon. If you ever have any video ideas, please feel free to post them. We are always open to video suggestions.

    Thanks for the information! I just found a 1949 D nickel yesterday! I haven't been at home to put it under my digital microscope, I will definitely check the mint mark in a bit. I appreciate all the hard work and valuable time you put into sharing your knowledge! Thanks again! Cheers!

    You might note that the “soak in water” suggestion has one exception (US coins) and that’s the Steel wartime cent. They can rust.

    I have a couple of 1940's and 47's . From what your saying is that the ones with the mint mark above Monticello are the 35 / 40% silver

    Ooops, almost forgot. One last important question. Very recently I purchased a gem. At least for me it is. I got a 1920 Buffalo Nickel. I have never seen one in this condition. I think it's perfect. Every detail is clear as a bell. Everything. I'm really stunned. Your usually lucky if you can even read the date on these. This one is so clear even the details on the feathers and ribbon the Chief has in his hair are clearly visible. And the Buffalo is remarkable. All the way down to his eyes. I can't find a reliable price guide here. And I went to Pgcs website. Without sending it in to get graded and assuming it's in some type of Ms condition. What sort of value could I expect for it. I don't want to get ripped off ever again.
    Lots of love. Thank you.

      Uncirculated it could be worth $67. Now if it was a D or S that would be a different story.

      I have a 1943 w back steals zinc-coated penny and it has errors and I know that their ears and I'm wondering if anyone else out there has heard of any errors on the 1943 steel zinc coated wheat back pennies

    • @BAlvn-yr6ej
      @BAlvn-yr6ej 5 лет назад

      if it is that perfect, i'd show it to an expert...if they think it is uncirculated (at least MS60 or higher), it may be worthwhile to get it professionally graded...if it turns out to be truly "perfect" or pretty close it could be worth like $6000 even...but to a lot of beginners even some AU coins can seem really good (as they are, but the value drops off a lot)

    I have a question, I have acquired a double sided Jefferson nickel, on one side the date is 1974-D and the other side has the 1999-P, Its weight is perfect as well as the nickel itself. I've never seen or heard about any real coin like this, except for the fake coins from a joke shop, but this nickel is right on the mark.

    Question if anyone has a moment to answer. I found my grandfathers coin collection in his basement. It was stored in a wooden footlocker in various cloth bags paper flips and cardboard holders. The basement has flooded and he wasn’t aware so these things have mold and various levels of rust from the staples. I’ve been taking them out and wiping them with a cotton ball and alcohol to get the mold off then placing them in new flips. Have I ruined them? Thank you.

    Since you implore us new collectors not to clean coins, I must ask how you feel about applying Nic-A-Date to buffalo nickels whose date is understandably obliterated before buying a bottle.

    Even though the 1950-D is the lowest minted in the series, it is easy to come by in BU condition as many many rolls were saved, if you find one in circulation it is scarce but not impossible. Great Job!

      +Robert Lawson this is very true, hence why with such a low montage it can be bought in a nice higher ms grade for a low price.

    Hi Dustin.
    Once again let me thank you for your channel. You do good work. The only thing that bothers me is the feeling of regret I sometimes have when I think I let something slip through my fingers. So in order to not let that happen, again! Let me ask you a question. Bare in mind I am not exactly a novice as I began collecting coins fifty years ago. No one knows everything.
    I have a 2005 P Buffalo Nickel. And what is unusual about this one may be some type of error.
    On the obverse there is, what appears to me to be, breakage with the cladding. It is oddly specific in that it honestly looks like Jefferson was in a fist-fight.He looks like he has a black eye, a bruise on his cheek bone. And a little cut on his lower jaw. This does not appear to be something that happened after minting. Like a scratch, or some dulling. What can you tell me about this? Any information is useful. Is it of possible value ? And lastly. I have a blank planchet I have owned more than forty years. It would have been a penny. Some dealers I've spoken to say it is very common. Yet I have never seen any for sale. And I have been to dozens of coin shops over the years. Your thoughts. Thank a lot.
    Peace.

    I have a 1942 nickel that doesn't have a mint mark over the Monticello is that normal and also it looks to have and I may be wrong but what looks to be a worn-out mint mark on the side of the building I also compared it to a 8:40 one I have and it looks the same

    • @Insta3
      @Insta3 6 лет назад

      Dale Tanner Not all 1942 nickels were silver. The "standard" ones lack the large mint mark above Monticello on the reverse.
      The production of conventional five-cent pieces was cut short in the spring of 1942, as the U. S. Mint began preparations for a new alloy that would reduced the copper content of this coin and eliminate nickel altogether for the duration of World War II.

    • @CoinOppLtd
      @CoinOppLtd  8 лет назад

      Will if it's error or variety coins....then it is never off topic!!!!! lmao. I've never heard of a 58 steel with the Lincoln series. there is the 1943 steel cent and then the very rare and valuable 1944 steel cent (wrong planchet error)). there is also the 1974-d aluminum cent...but there is only one of those and it's owned by a couple guys in California. Now on the other hand it is common for people to plate Lincoln cents or even change the color using acid. If it is a steel cent....see if it will stick to a magnet...

      I think maybe 1/2 the volume would be great! The music gives the video a bit of peace and a relaxing aire to the video.
