Katie, you amaze me with all the things you can do! The stove looks terrific, well done. Also, thank you for the info on early Christianity.
A pretty country church!
Loved the shot of kate laying on the pink fluffy blanket in her dress fixing the car go kate girl power ❤😊
Katie is a hard worker she is doing great on renovations😊
It is all coming together…the walkway in the front looks really good and sheep approved 😊. The stove looks really nice and great time for a fire 🤗. I love Katie’s humor and she will tackle anything 😂. Love you both and watching this channel 💕.
It's an old gate but I think someone has put it there as what we in Sweden call "färist" people can easily go over but the animals don't
Yeah livestock grid.
I love that old gate you could restore it and repurpose it as a garden gate. It's such a fantastic find. The two of you make a great team.
Thanks for bringing us along on your adventures, it gives us a break from ours. My ancestors hail from that region, it's nice to see it like this!
Our pleasure!
The heavy metal pole is called a Tamper, for Tamping things down, like you say eg, flags. Perfect for the paths.
Katie certainly is a Jack of all trades. Way to go. Everything is started to look so much better.
Or maybe a Jill of all trades... 🙂
People dont realise the work that goes into filming and video editing. The video editor fades away so that only the work seen by the camera eye can be seen.
Thanks Jennifer. This is a very important observation and comment to make.
Scott's going to have a real challenge fitting that gate half into a jar.
🤣
Love all so far, special thanks today for the cable tie and the pope….
Thank you very much! We're happy you're enjoying. Kx
Think the 'tamper' could have been used before the invention of whacker plates. if it is really old may have been used to pound the soil floors that some of the crofts had. Mud mixed with bulls blood can become almost like concrete, as the blood congeals. It was used in smithys around the country.
wonderful episode, love when you give us a narrative of the history behind the land, the architecture, etc. Thank you for posting :)
Glad you enjoyed it.
Well done with the stove and steps! Heat just in time for the winter coming! thank you for sharing. God Bless. 🙏🏼
It's a small grid to stop sheep/cattle wondering down the path, presumably towards or even away from your croft.
Whoever invented cable ties deserves every penny. I did the same thing to my husband's car right after he purchased it. He fixed it with a couple nuts & bolts. That was 10ish years ago? Still holds just fine. Loving your vlogs, thanks so much!
I think Katie is the reincarnation of MacGyver (American TV series from 1985-1992)
Yes she clearly is very resourceful and clever. I hope Scott truly appreciates the amazing woman he has in Katie. Scott can be full of himself from time to time 😂 bless your souls Scott and Katie, you are a wonderful pairing of man and woman.
Great job on the stove. When you think what it was like when you find it! I love that you’re telling us more and more what you’re doing. I just love your humor.
I think it was a good find, Katie should be proud of her man finding this artefact!
Hilarious conversation over the gate discovery! Scot's expression when he informed Katie that.the queen is dead and now a king reigns. A wonderful bit of theatre which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was disappointed when realised this episode was over!!
I agree, a vine growing over the gate you discovered would be marvelous. I enjoy your videos, your music and your pictures of the beauty of your island.
I think that gate was put on purpose to cover a ditch across the path to catch the water running down the path and divert it to the side. And lang may your lum reek😊
Absolutely loved the history lesson. As a Celtic pagan myself I was intrigued. I’m very drawn to the Celtic cross and collect and paint many different versions. Despite my Druid beliefs the Celtic cross is ingrained in my soul. I don’t yet know the reason. But I accept it and honorably display it. Perhaps it’s my heritage as I’ve went back as far as Mary Queen of Scots. I love that she is my kin.
You know, what's interesting is that symbolically-speaking, trees are very important in old (Celtic) Christianity as well as Druidism. Kx
Great job on wood stove Katie😊
It'll be good t' see the sodding barra in action 😁
Your sense of humor is hilarious.....salutation du Québec
Wonderful vlog as usual. What an amazing job you did on the stove. Consider moving your bed in there for cozy evenings and nice warm sleeps. Maybe the gate would make a lovely hanging plant pot place on the other cottage outside wall.
Your sunrise this morning was a spectical! Quiet..beautiful and breathtaking. Have a most amazing day...and enjoy the picture you are living in.,
Wonderful epusode. Katie you did a wonderful job with the stove and your a very handy person around the house. Well done you two for helping one another out. Your home looks very cosy for the winter to come cheers
I think the gate is a lovely find. And you two are adorable.
10/10 wheelbarrow trail!
Brilliant work on the stove. So nice to see its restoration.
Great to see the wood burner working, well done. Team work. I would give your ramp a 6.8 Katie.
Room for improvement! 😉 Kx
Katie. Many, many talents 😂
Great find of the gate.
Love it.
And the fire,another warm room
Thanks
Thank you very much! 😊 Kx
Y'all are just too cute together. Thanks again for sharing with us ❤
“We have a new Pope!” 😂😂😂
Beautiful job on the fire place. I love finding treasures like the gate. Can’t wait to see how you repurpose it.
Ahh it's just lovely we'll done take care and God bless 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Id love to live this type of life. Bless you both
Grand job wi the auld stove! When you put up that pipe from the roof, ye just let the water drain to the base of the house. Ye need rhones. Guttering, I suppose they are now named. Or at least connect the white pipe to a water barrel away from the back of the house, or ye will aye be paddling in water. .
Impressive workmanship on the wood burning stove...and the automobile...lol.
Katie, you do more work than any two people I know! I am glad to see the ramp and stove are working well before the weather turns completely inclement! Fingers crossed on the drainage solution! "We have a new pope!" that made me laugh!
The chain that was washed up can be strung between posts for a walkway
You are a hard working well suited couple I love the way you torment each other and your jokes
The stove looks great! And nice job on the new path! I bet it feels good to get pieces of projects finished.
I’ve giggled more than once while watching this morning! Y’all are too cute! Thanks for sharing your island adventures! 🌿🌊
How lovely your fire looks now its working.
What a cheerful little stove that is now!❤
Brilliant!
Oh my goodness!! Thank you, I did laugh greatly at the Time Team reference and the imitation of Phil! :) Cheers for that!
" I learned how to do that on Time Team" 😂 great stuff. Love this recent upload what a wonderful channel.

Greetings from the California coast. The exact same thing happened to my car a couple of years ago. No idea how it happened, but it was flapping and scraping, making an awful racket. I didn't know if it was safe to drive, so I had it towed to a garage about a mile away. They fixed it with (you guessed it) a couple of cable ties and sent me on my way.
Funny you should mention "Tony" and "Phil." I discovered Time Team on RUclips a couple of years ago and binge-watched it from start to finish.
Loving your videos.. well done to to you both !
Thanks so much! 😊
Love the Phil Harding impression. ❤️
This was a amazing episode!Sure is a lot of rain 🌧️ don’t float away…lol ….Blessings to you both
Ya'll are doing a great job.
Job well done especially the old stove... but the steps and walkway too!
It was perfect time to be watching this …it’s hossin’ it down in Suffolk …. The dogs are refusing to go out for their evening pee….
Well done folks! 👍👍
IMHO, the piece Scott thought was for planting cobbles could be used to support the downspout elbow?
Lovely episode. I look forward to catching up with you each week ☺️
Such hard work is proving fruitful - congrats! It does give me pleasure to see Katie taking a cozy rest in the warm house. I also have a car underbody held up by a cable tie (we call them zip-ties)! I suppose that people used metal wire in the olden days. ;) The stove is beautiful, now - and, I love the giant decoupaged historical photo board in that room. Thank you for the vlog!
The stove looks amazing!!!
I was so happy not to see any smoke leaking out from your test.
The steps are coming along nicely.
That gate Scot found is pretty cool. I’m sure you will do something awesome with it. :)
Just found your channel today and my daughter and I are truly enjoying it. Love what you all are doing. Also love the sheep and the pair of cats ❤
Welcome aboard! Thank you. Kx
I'm so glad your stove has a flat top. You can use it for cooking and heating water. So useful.
I love this channel I love you both I love your sense of humour and the way you both just get stuck in even if you don’t know what you are doing lol❤
We definitely do not know what we are doing! :D
oh and I really loved the length of the video, nice...the longer the better :)
I would pull the wheel barrow up behind you instead of pushing it up, I think it would be easier. The stove has come out beautiful, you have done a Stirling job on it and it looks so cosy. Another lovely video and I just love the banter you both have with each other. I do love your archaeological find/hence former grid come gate. Have a lovely day.
Hello I'm watching your series from Yucaipa, California USA. I'm so in enjoying all of your videos. Well done on creating the path so you can wheel your wheelbarrow. Up to the house, I would fill in some of the spaces with smaller stones. To whiden the path a bit. Making it easier to come up to the door. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much!
You've done well with the stove and steps!
Katie you've done an amazing amount of work! You need a pair of knee pads though, you're going to wear the knees out of your tights with the work you're doing. The metal 'brick' on the spike is a tamper, use it on the ramp you've built beside the stairs to help level them out.
Katie your work on the stove was amazing. Scott you made me laugh with the Stonehenge comment. With stones that heavy rolling is the only way to go. Another great episode! Cheers 🎉
Zip ties are lifesavers! lol
Since when did you become a drain expert. Since July 2023 😅 love your humor ❤
Thank you once again you lovely two, the work is hard and cold. You are incredibly resourceful. Have a cozy, warm and dry evening. 🇨🇦
I find it so appropriate that you have constant Breaks in your video showing the beautiful island you live on. I would assume that at any given time that there is awareness of your surroundings. The wind and water mark the time and nature is in a constant partnership with your day. Brilliant work on your home.🇨🇦🍁🔥
Thank you!
I'm really hoping that this episode gets to Sir Tony, or Phil Harding. I'm a Paetreon, I'll leave them a message! 🤣🤣🤣 Seriously, great episode, your working so hard.
Hi guys, the stove is awesome. Well done on bringing it back to life. Loved the steps and paths, the water pipe, and Katie that’s what I did to my car abt 2 years ago. I used white cable ties on a blue car . Who cares it works still. Great find on the gate, you could do it up like the stove. Love your humour also guys, can hear it in your voices 😂. Have fun, take care. 🙏🩷💙 thanks for sharing your journey.
A pot of water on top of the wood stove helps raise the heat in the house.
You can see the emiferal creek behind Katie when She stood up. You need something of a ditch- stone lined, and 3- 4 feet across and 3-4 feet away from your home. You will end all your drainage issues!
Gate might have been put there as a drain or as a cattle guard to keep life stock in or out of a certain area they'll put uncomfortable things through them to step on
Good job on restoring that fire box, it looks great also the pathway looks good so easy passage for the wheel barrow .
Very beautiful there and I bet it’s very peaceful. Loved hearing the call of the elk the other day’s video.
Reminds me of Fred Flintstone! It’s good to be reminded of how it was to work with natural materials! 😊
Wow you guys are always getting rain you must get so tired of the mud 😢😢😢
"I'm thinking."
"Congratulations."
HAhahahaha! That made me giggle this morning!
You two are hilarious. Personally, I'd scrub up that gate and hang it in a wall either inside or outside, as decoration. It's lovely.
I'm wondering when you'll get your first snow. Must be getting close now. It will be cozy to have that wood burner inside!
The wood stove is insanely good - throws out tonnes of heat! We'll be nothing if not warm and dry.
Glad we make you smile! Kx
Hello from Oregon, U.S.A. I so enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you like them!
you should make calendars from all the beautiful pictures from the island that you capture. It can earn your an extra stream of income and share the lovely views at the same time.
Katie....you are an amazing woman. Especially to put up with your hubby!😂 he gives you a 5 out of 10 for the amazing wheel barrel path that you made!!! I hope he is just trying to be funny! (But he isn't!) Wishing you the very best.
I'm not trying to be funny, I am hilarious.
HooRay! The lovely little stove is fired! Blessings
Wait a minute who you calling old!! I remember Capes lol
This is some project you have. It’s taking shape 👍. For the gutter at the back you can move the outlet and swap it for a union/straight closer to the end. I would add another at the opposite end as well. Hopefully it will be straightforward for you. Hope it helps 🏴
I think that tool is for compacting sand or soil prior to lay cobbles or flagstones
hi from canada , my moms dad was scottish , so i enjoy your vids , thank you
She's definitely like us woman in Alaska, fix the cars and all 😆..
Trick with laying stones, make (more or less) a fist size hole/dent in the ground in the middle of the stone.
