the weakness of The Nova makes it extra funny that your attacker didn't hurt one 😂
I mean, with piloting like that, I get the impression that he'd have lost the fight even if his opponent had been three naked dudes hiding behind some rocks.
We were in a fairly narrow valley, at night with additional air support on station, I could see where the bullets were headed and was able to simply drive out of the way before they could hit us, lining up return fire was slightly more difficult but once the gunner was able to compensate for the speed of the round we scored 3-5 good hits and, as you saw, destroyed the C2
I’ve driven an M1A1. Super excited for the Nova :)
Hmm I think the tanks lack of armor is a deliberate trolling attempt by Sean Tracey... freakin infantry!
@@toddm1a1 to be fair it has a S5 cannon. It doesn't need armour
Day one backers:
When I joined the Corps, we didn't have any fancy-shmancy tanks. We had sticks! Two sticks, and a rock for the whole platoon - and we had to share the rock! Buck up, boy, you're one very lucky Marine!
Here we have 66 tons of De-Vine intervention! If God is love then you can call me Cupid!
I love Halo refrences
These men are of culture

"He never gets me anything"
Well, if armor mechanics isn't implemented yet, they could solve it by just dramatically increasing its HP, for now. Having a paper tank isn't fun.
As they should, because they do that for ships. Strange they didnt do that for the tank on day 1.
its a glass canon
Imagine they'll make armor work and forgot to decrease HP xd. Also this size 5 gun looks op
Maybe a sign of armor coming sooner than later? I hope so, and so does my connie
@@k1nk1ne Size 5 for a tank is very reasonable.
Just think that a ship such as the 600i has 2x S5 on it. So...
This episode is sponsored by World of Ta... Wait what?
Lol
We can only wish we had WoT controls for these to allow viable solo piloting
Hot damn is this game cool, I just want to jump 20 years into the future to play a polished version of it.
Hahaha just 20? 🤣
Still won't be finished.
Try 50.....
When the BUILD the idea for the thought of the notion of the tech for the Beta!
LMFAO
I don't think it will take that long. The biggest hold ups to the game have been the core tech and engine which they have been custom building to do things never done before in gaming. Once server meshing is in they "should" be able to drop stuff into the game faster and easier and will actually be able to get AI working. But until server meshing icash and OCS are all singing in harmony stuff is going to get held up.
@@artismaarimus1257 You are right. More core tech, more gameplay, more systems. The game is going to be totally different in a couple years not 20.
i love how the front armor is sloped to direct deflected shells directly into the weakest part under the turret
Real world, yeah. PU no deflection physics at this time nor on the list of features. So not a deal. Maybe in future upgrades.
If a shot gets through the forcefield then you are already fucked.
@@DarthPoyner Still seems like a poor oversight considering they often take the design of their vehicles so seriously.
I can see an APFSD round go straight through this tank like stabbing a pen through paper.
Modern tank rounds, more specifically APFSDS rounds, don't bounce. They either go through, get stuck or they shatter. I have no idea what kind of ammo is common amongst anti-tank weapons, but I imagine it's not much different from what we have today.
I got some Planetside vibes when I saw that line of armor on a hill, preparing to pound the bunker. Loved it ngl
yass
yo planetside be lit when there is hella players fighting for one base
@@mirmoneybenton2007 It is not really fun spamming one choke point 30 vs 30 and waiting for either side to flank properly.

Coming from a real life track crew, that amount of interior space is pure luxury
Out of more than 5 videos that I watched about this tank, only morphologis talked about the commander turret and missile launcher
So far, he’s the only who’s done an in depth look.
@@beane6426 yeah, and none of the other videos even tried to sit on the right seat. I was just very curious what seat it was everytime I watched the other videos until morphologis sat there
@@-HRSH- Tell me about it. I suspected what the seat might be for but for whatever reason, everyone else who’s done a “first look” has ignored just about all the features of the Tumbril except the main gun. Morph is the only one who’s covered most all the stuff the tank has.
I didnt even realise it existed until he mentioned the turret and i looked at the schematics.
It was great fun recording this with you on Sunday, and I enjoyed blowing it up with a railgun a few times.
Definitely, I look forward to more tonkkk battlesss
@@Morphologis what organization are you in star citizen and squadron 44? I would love to join the organization your in.
It's also weird that you don't see any tracks in the sand. This tank must be super heavy...
Well, judging from the Durability Tests, the Tank is made out of paper mache, so its not actually heavy. *laugh*
Right now vehicles don't cause tire lines or track lines.
Player: attempts to ram people and ruin there day...
Nova tank: And i took that personally.
Nova Tanks: Anyway I started blasting.
Lol imagine seeing another ship coming up to ram you, opening your back ramp and blasting them with a tank shell lol
Excellent analysis, the thoroughness and professionalism is appreciated.
Pretty cool design, with a DEADLY flaw in armor design and shape known as a 'Shot Trap'. Pretty much the lower frontal armor on the turret wants to bounce shots right at the hull or turret ring, this is all the bad and none of the good.
The frontal hull armor's rather impressive slope also seems to want to bounce shots right into the truly gigantic 'shot-trap' . Having lower frontal turret armor slope in like that is a deadly design flaw that pretty much all modern tank designers abandoned early/mid WW2.
All the more reason to get into a hull down position if you can or stay on the move.
And here is the major flaw in what your saying, 2022 we have reactive armor on tanks this game is based in the year 2950 what type of armor do you think it happens and your assuming the all of the modern weaknesses of modern tanks are represented on a tank 900+ years later
@@crislobarker3214 I'm kinda late here but I do want to point out that a "shot trap" is not a matter of materials it is a problem of geometry also no matter the time and the advancement of materials or armor you will always see similar if not more advancement in weapons made specifically to destroy/penetrate said armor
The new Challenger Mk3 British main battle tank can do 60mph.
Tech moves pretty quick, though this upgrade was a long time coming.
Speaking of tech, today our pilots have HUDs that allow them to visually track targets through the hull of their planes. Would be nice to see Star Citizen implement this for our helmet HUDs too.
Armour is going to change everything about combat, which I'm definitely excited about it. Even so, I can see the Nova being a very popular and fun vehicle.
Your content is always such a treat to watch, crisp and to the point!
Thanks Morph! :)
Yes! What I was proposing day one in the server is daymar tonk rally, or everyone raid the prison
Sure it has some issues to be resolved but overall, the Nova is a blast to play with, I just love it. It also has countermeasures as well which look great when fired.
Excellent video, very nicely composed! I’ve been enjoying the Nova too, hopefully they figure out the armour situation soon.
Hey I was here for this! Super fun stream and when that C-2 came in, I had the scare of my life! Great video as always.
This tank looks like a bunch of fun. Great video, and thanks for the real-world tanker lingo and for comparing it to the Abrams for reference.
8:53 - love how you showed us those tracks absorbing the rocks as it rolls over them.
At the very beginning it sounded like you were going to do a advertisement for the Nova Tank lol. Enjoyed this very much keep up the good work. Would like to see more test/mock battles between the nova and the other combat ground vehicles.
Amazing video as always, Morph. Love the new graphics with information!
Nice video, I realy liked the more action themed start of the video.
Amazing overview of the tonk. Great work!
I love how even the ground vehicles have interiors!
Great work Morph.. and that initial screenshot... great reference!
I’ve always liked your videos, I’ve got to say this one was slick fun and informative - really loved the feisty intro as well. Seem to really be hitting your stride as a content creator.
The window one-sided view feature could be similar to what they've done with the Tevarin ship canopies.
Thankyou for using the word 'Tank' and not 'Tonk'. You have class, sir!
Looking forward to seeing more ground-based incursions come to Star Citizen - once they get factional gameplay and controlling outposts in the game, I'm very excited about the potential for lots of combat opportunities around the capture and control of high-value ground facilities.
Excellent video Morphologis. Makes me want that tank.
Would be cool for the cannon on the tank to be fully physicalized too and hit the environment around it if the operator is not paying attention and for the audio team to give it some sound effects for these cannon collisions with the environment.
Thanks for the video! I bought the Nova during it's concept sale because I love tanks. LOL Wasn't sure if it was in this patch for sure or not. Have to go check my tank out. LOL
ACHTUNG!
PANZER VOR!
Also up to 1.8 km? world war 2 tanks destroyed each other at longer ranges than that : p
Probably server limitations, I'd imagine. When performance is better, longer-range engagements will be more of a thing.
@@thenecrolept Well, 1.8 km is still pretty far nontheless
@@slopedarmor not for tanks lmao
1800 meters. Let's bring that into perspective. You can see another person at that distance. They'll look like a little blurry speck but you can see them.
@@ekstat1c yeah 1800 meters is far-ish for a ww2 tank. Some big boi ww2 tanks engaged targets at 3000 meters away. But 3000+ meters is far from the most common type of engagement, I will bet by far most tank vs tank kills in ww2 were within 1800 meters. within a 1000 probably. ofcourse in most environments a tank that is 3000 meters away is obscured from your vision. And small early ww2 tanks couldnt even reach 1800 meters effectively.
Wonderful video, morph. I think this is your best-made one to date :)
Great footage. Looking forward to the game play.
Great video as always. Thank you!
In spite of their armour, tanks are quite vulnerable due to their small size (i.e. cw a cutter, destroyer or battleship). Hit a real tank with an armour-piercing round in the right spot and its instakill (the 88mm, designed to take down aircraft, was particularly good at dispatching tanks). Pop a sticky bomb (a satchel charge dipped in axle grease) on the ventral plate and pop goes the weasel! Drop a hand-grenade in the tracks, and the tank is immobilised. With a some tanks, one Molotov cocktail on the rear deck over the engine intakes is all it takes. That's why tanks need infantry support when not on penetration manoeuvres.
Let get this in perspective. The Tumbril tank is like you took a M1 Abrams or Challenger and double its size. It is literally twice is wide, twice as long, and twice a high. This thing is BIGGER than the WWII German MAUS super tank. So in short, you can hit it from orbit because not really a tank but rather a moving pill box.
I love how the tracks and wheels deform accordingly to the terrain. Looks pretty amazing
I’m not first, I’m not last, but when Morphologis posts, I click fast.
(edit: omg how did i get this many likes)
Nice one.
Omg 137 likes bro you're fuckin famous !!!!!1!
@@Kyezie131 Actually, it’s 138 now...
@@epeli0035 actually it’s 140 now
Just to point some things out, it has 24 S2 missiles not S3, you can drive the tonk while inside the remote turret, and lastly it does a physical window.
M1A2 Abrams SEP V3 operator here! The tank is actually capable of 61 mph with the uninstallation of the governor. Which is a mechanical part that limits the engines max speed! With it installed, the Abrams on a daily is capable of 47 - 49 mph. Fastest I've gone on a flat road was 48 mph! (:
love the choice of music and how you choose to represent certain vehicles. for example a more nimble/majestic starship has a more elegant tone to it, while the nova has a more robust sound track. sorry just the little things i notice i guess, but shows how much efffort you put into your videos, as always!
Thanks for the tip about pressing G to enter turret!
Great vid as always. Still can't help wondering why I should be excited about getting a tank in a spaceship game, but I could say that about alot of things. Personally I'd rather get some additional support ground vehicles or even a "daily driver".
Silly question, is the main hull short enough to fit into a Valkyrie without the turret? Hoping they'll drop something to us like the SC version of the Namir, which is basically a turretless Merkava retasked as an APC
This weeks been a real shitter, thanks for everything you do Morph :). Absolutely gorgeous shots as always, plus those little details like dimensions do not go unnoticed. Stellar work as always!
can we just take a moment to appreciate how beautiful this is 7:39
Christ that thing is bloody enormous. I'd at least half the size, I appreciate that they have a separate gunner and commander but the way it's laid out is way too spacious, the gunner has no reason to be in an entirely separate room and by putting the seats in a V formation with the driver in the front, you could get rid of a ton of wasted space and give the tank a much smaller profile. The only reason I can think of for having the gunner in a separate room is so that a penetration to the main fighting compartment isn't a full crew kill but that massive bridge area with the driver and TC looking at the hull instead of the engineering section implies that they don't actually care all that much abut maximizing individual survivability
"Armor system not yet implemented" that phrase is tossed around for 5 years now....
Nice video, Tonk looks amazing.
When the nova got flipped at the end, I like how it was able to right itself up by moving its main turret around like a kickstand.
Man, this video is so well done!
Great design by CIG, and look at that REMOTE CONTROL OF TURRET - looking at you ROC-DS....
Great video!!
Excellent review of this. Despite the lack of armor would still be fun to get say 12 of these with 3 people per tank on a single server and split into 2 teams of 6 with one side in one paint job and the other side in another paint job to tell teams apart and have a world of tanks duel.
Best Star Citizen videos on RUclips, bar none. Well done sir.
2:39 is such a sick shot! Masterclass, as always :D
amazing work, I really think you should make some kind of music video with the nova tank in combat.
Once armor system are added, I hope that we get actual tank battles, where cree can actually bail out
well... before that they might wanna figure out a way to transport huge amount of armour with a ship...
It's a good day to watch a Morph vid, especially on the nova tank
Amazing footage once again. You made tonk gameplay look fun.
7 meters width however seems way off visually, which really makes me question any size CIG claims for ships
I bought mine back when it was only a size 4 gun for the original concept.
When the "Tonk" was first announced I had to get one (military background in the armoured world) and depending on how the Polaris shapes out I might end up switching to the A2 Starlifter. The times I had the most fun in video games was when I would take people with no experience manning armoured vehicles and turned them into slaughter machines (like in Arma).
I have completely ignored any other coverage of both the Nova and the Hercules because I don’t feel like any other come close to the quality you provide, now patiently waiting for the video on the Hercules!
totally agree about buying it in game(goes for all ground vehicles in my opinion) nice vid
FINALLY the tonk is hereee!
Nice analysis morphologis! And, as a tank enthusiast (and not a professional of any kind) at the beggining i thought that it was a heavy tank and not an MBT, but later I fell in the conclussion of that weight is not that much of a concern in space, as isn't the suspension and powerplant's reliability, being in the future, also targeting systems wouldn't struggle that much on handling the gun etc, so, to my personal opinion, not based on math, this is more realistic than anything other non-tank games have done about tanks, even tho I would center the gun, I don't see the point for it to be on one side, I would have added a coax autocannon/50 cal for infantry and light vehicles and other things, but as it is, it is imposing, epic and it's own original thing, I AM GETTING ONE, even tho I can't carry it on my cutlass hahaha TONK goes kaboonga!
Great video, but @Morphologis when you said that you thought that the window in the tank was a monitor I was expecting an EMP test to see how the Tonk is affected, like how EMPs shut down the Talon screen. I really thought that testing this theory of the Tonk would be worth doing and including in the video. Just a little of a missed opportunity, but honestly I love your videos, keep up the great work and don't get complacent!
Ooof, excellent video Morph, as always.
Amazing video! Although you said the driver has to stop driving the tank while operating the turret, this is incorrect. There is a button to the bottom left of the drivers seat that lets you operate the main turret while still being able to dive.
That intro was fucking sick. Well done man. Really enjoyed watching this video. Keep it up!
i can imagine a far future version of this game where player founded factions wage large scale invasions of player founded colonies and the battles are like the ones we wished MAG or warhawk would be like back in the day
Time to recreate the battle of 73 Easting
Always look forward to your videos :)
You and your videos are a massive credit to the community
the Nova Tonk is a really great addition to Star Citizen and SQ42, it packs a punch and if fun to use. they just need to fix the issues with it's armor and shielding and it will fit nicely in the combined arms gameplay that the games are trying to go for.
and just 2 other nice-to-haves would be more torque for the engines to go over much rougher/steeper terrain and the Tonk leaving tracks in the sand/grass/soil as it goes over them with maybe destructible trees for that increased immersion and fidelity.
torque, yes 100% agree, but also grip, sometimes you'd just slide, even when sitting still.
Not to be a bummer, but I just realised there's a flickering icon that keeps appearing in the bottom right do you think you'd be able to fix that?
fantastic opening music choice!
Great stuff mate 👍
excellent and very entertaining, thank you
i feel like the suspension needs work, right now the tracks don't articulate at all
in regards to the armor, look at the width of the exit door, what is it 5cm?
Yet another amazing video. I love it :D
Lovely and informative as always
FYI the tonk moves just fine while the pilot is in remote turret mode, keybind issue? i am able to drive and steer with WASD, and control turret fully via mouse...
Now I want the ballistic rounds to give off emissive lighting as they travel across an environment absent of light.
If you put a Ballista in the Herc, can you fit 2 Novas or just one?
seeing cool shit like this rekindles my love for this game, even if every time I go to play it I get bugged out one way or another.
if you have gunships that can hover indefinitely with bigger guns, what do you need tanks for?
i literally couldnt find this video anywere, i knew it was up because of phone notifications but i searched for ''nova tank'', then ''the nova tank'', then ''the nova tank!'', then ''the nova tank! morphologis'' and only bored gamer came up
great vid morph!
nice info. thanks
I see that you know the time is actually inspired by merkava mbts and the leopard 2A7 mbt, and it fits so well. Can't wait for the next one!
I thought it looked similar to the merkava, specifically the rear entrance is very similar to the merkava series, as well as the off centre gun barrel
I wish they would of leaned more towards the Leapard looks, especially some of the more modern Leapards look pretty damn futuristic with their turrets and could of been used easily with SC.
wow, awesome video! as always
Really exciting video!
How do you fire the mounted guns on top of the Tonk?
Any recommendations for a prebuilt system to run star citizen that isn't too expensive?
I want to know if it can fit on a Carrack right now, or when we can open the cargo pods.
Now, we need an exploration ground vehicule with caterpillars. AND the Mole from the Thunderbirds
