Hugo Strange is one of Batman's most notorious villains he's ever delt with. Hugo is one of his oldest villains that he came across in the Golden age, he actually came earlier before Joker made his first appearance in 1940, but Strange came out in like 1939. Hugo is not generally evil, he's just very obsessed with Batman, and cosplays him in some actions, and even wants to know the true identity of the Dark Knight of Gotham City. I'm so glad that Hugo is sometimes remebered by fans, and creators try to bring him back ever since his first appearance, and has became more popular ever since the past years. Hugo Strange has been also appearance in all sorts of media, such as Batman TAS, The Batman, Arkhamverse, and Gotham. In my opinion, Hugo Strange is a very obscure Batman rogue, and is become from an evil mad scientist, to a more potential man with so much to gain in his will. I would like to see him in a Batman film, he would become a great major role of a villain. Anyways, thank you for the Top 5 Best Hugo Strange Stories, I like them all. In the next video, I want you to do a Top 5 Best Deadshot Stories video, I'm still want to see one on your channel. I hope you have a good day, and I'll see you on the next video. Take care for now!
I know I'm 2 years late (lol), but I actually really like Hugo Strange's visual design. The bald head, the large, reflective glasses, the gray chin beard--it's all incredibly rememberable.
I just realised something. Hugo looks like a taller version of Dr Sivanna. Thank you for making this list. Hugo is really underrated and deserves to be used in more stories.
@@fynnthefox9078 Or Night of the Monster Men, with Hugo Strange being portrayed more as Doctor Frankenstein type villain, a mad scientist who wants to improve his physical short-comings through his experiments, having no concern for the people he kidnaps and use as guinea pigs (His whole jealousy and obsession for Batman could come from the fact that Bruce was able to become such a strong and imposing figure through his training, something Strange could never achived).
Hugo Strange is Definitely my favorite Batman Villain. He's cool, smart, clever, manipulative, and the best Mad Scientist DC has ever created. Also. He's da only Villain who's legitimately obsessed with Batman. He even created The Fear Toxin.
I was waiting for this video, since Hugo is one of my favorite Batman rogues. The stories you chose are easily among his best. Covering his mad scientist and psychatric aspects. Prey is so good at this ,and what it shows can t be repeated. I dont see Hugo as a believable voice for the comunity after this story.. Hugo Strange also appeared on the early 80 s on the long running Rupert Thorne saga;by Conway and others. Excellent review.
I like the fact that Rebirth is giving some of Batman's lesser known rogues some time to shine even if some of them are crap like Kite Man or Captain Stingaree.
Just finished reading the Batman Prey/Terror trade. Really good stories. I didn't know that transference was a sequel to Prey but though Terror was great. Hugo Strange seems really underused. He was good in the Arkham City game.
I have actually read "Transference," as well as "Prey"...but aside from these, I haven't honestly read any major stories involving Professor Hugo Strange. I know about a few certain stories, but I've never actually read them. Thank you for giving us your thoughts on your favorites; the odd three out are all stories I hope to look up in the near future! Nice work, as always!
the only hugo strange story I read was one where he teams up with the scarecrow....only to be seemingly killed off barely halfway through and the story then just becomes a scarecrow story with strange only coming back at the end to get revenge on scarecrow. I wouldn't call it bad per se, but its a huge waste of a character.
I somehow missed this comment the first time I saw this video, but the main problem with the major Hugo Strange stories is that they're typically very expensive/can't be found on online libraries because I guess no one has them for whatever reason.
Very late but i find hugos designs great its simple but effective And the glasses add alot by giving him that little touch of batman iconagraphy by mocking the all white eyes
if you could make a seven deadly sins of batman rogues, do you think Hugo Strange should be envy? I've been making one myself and it's a hard pick between him, Riddler and Joker.
Depression. Sloth is connected to depression, and Freeze is extremely depressed. He refuses to move forward with his life, and takes his pain out on others. He wants everyone to feel as cold as him.
Strange Appariation is the one that make me memorable about criminal scientist who dress as Batman. Thanks to this video now I gonna have to try Prey out of my curiousity o o. The rest I am familiar about this character are only Batman TAS and Batman Arkham City game 🙃. Great video about Dr.Hugo Strange here love ur work ^o^.
I liked "Terror" but I think it's more a better story for Scarecrow than Hugo Strange. For those who haven't read it, Strange breaks Scarecrow out to be a puppet in his latest scheme, but Scarecrow is having none of it, leaves the good doctor to die and takes over as the main antagonist for the latter half of the story. Although, Hugo's comeback for revenge on Scarecrow at the end is fittingly and hilariously insane.
For all the villains BTAS and the DCAU did well they didn't do a good job with Hugo Strange because in the episode The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne he's just a glorified blackmailer who builds a machine that allows him to see people's thoughts then blackmails them with their darkest secrets.
They did a similar storyline in the comics but that was done better because Strange was still his evil psychiatrist self and worked out Batman's identity before he auctioned it off and the reason he auctioned it off was to try to destroy Batman's life unlike in BTAS where he just finds out his identity by chance when Bruce goes to Strange's resort to investigate Hugo's blackmail of his friend Judge Vargas.
You know I'm a bit confused about Hugo strange is short or average size in the DCAU he short but in The Batman series he is taller than the ventriloquist and in Gotham he's Asian. So tell me Gotham rouges are you going to do a top 5 Hugo strange design?
It's really too bad Hugo wasn't THE archenemy of Batman. His intellect alone could have been dangerous for Bruce, plus Hugo is calculating and cold whereas the Joker was too maniacial even for his own good.

I like the design too,he didn't say it was bad,he said it was generic and dull which is right
It's not dull and not generic. He looks amazing. He looks kind of like a gman.
I just realised something. Hugo looks like a taller version of Dr Sivanna. Thank you for making this list. Hugo is really underrated and deserves to be used in more stories.
ANd if he was more mentally unstable. Sivanna may be a "mad" scientist, but not as mad as Hugo Strange.
The Earth-16 version of him resembles a bald Gendo Ikari.
Swole Strange vs Cheems Sivana
I like how B. D. Wong did him in the Fox TV show Gotham.
Hugo Strange should be the main villan on the next batman movie
JPLUS XXI should be.
But could it be?
He should be. He's the original arch villain of Batman. The Professor Moriarty to Batman's Sherlock Holmes.
He NEEDS to be. Just him. No Joker, no Two-Face, just him.
Maybe they can adapt Down to the Bone or even Prey?

Ikr, he's so fascinating
1:00 - N°5 - Down to the bone
2:25 - N°4 - The monster men
4:05 - N°3 - Transference
5:55 - N°2 - Strange apparitions
7:50 - N°1 - Prey
I like Hugo's design, he's a buff ass doctor.
Hugo Strange is Definitely my favorite Batman Villain. He's cool, smart, clever, manipulative, and the best Mad Scientist DC has ever created. Also. He's da only Villain who's legitimately obsessed with Batman. He even created The Fear Toxin.
Professor Jonathan Crane's protege.
Hugo Strange is such an interesting, underrated villain.
Hugo should be a villain in a Batman film, i think that would work well!
Indeed!
Oh absolutely. He's a villain I wished had shown up in the Nolanverse.
I was waiting for this video, since Hugo is one of my favorite Batman rogues. The stories you chose are easily among his best. Covering his mad scientist and psychatric aspects. Ah I've been waiting for this. Professor Strange is such an interesting, fun, and unfortunately underappreciated rogue.
Kite man just got an origin comic in rebirth lol
hahaha really?
Charm Frog yeah it's set a little bit back it even kinda makes him relatable...somehow
Now that sounds interesting..
Gotham Rogues it was pretty funny and actually kinda sad
I like the fact that Rebirth is giving some of Batman's lesser known rogues some time to shine even if some of them are crap like Kite Man or Captain Stingaree.
You could talk about Hugo's appearance in Arkham City.
Just finished reading the Batman Prey/Terror trade. Really good stories. I didn't know that transference was a sequel to Prey but though Terror was great. Hugo Strange seems really underused. He was good in the Arkham City game.
I love how in The Batman cartoon Hugo was voiced by Frank Gorshin.
That's awesome, I didn't know that!
Truly excellent list
Thanks!
Thank you!!!! For doing this

Great video. I need to check these out now
Very late but i find hugos designs great its simple but effective

I feel like DC should make a Batman movie with Hugo Strange as the villain. If done right, it could be up there with The Dark Knight.
7:53 This is my favourite Strange story too.
actually, in detective comics no.57 (i think) a random gangster figured it out, but he was fooled by a doll of brucie boy he saw in a window
if you could make a seven deadly sins of batman rogues, do you think Hugo Strange should be envy? I've been making one myself and it's a hard pick between him, Riddler and Joker.
Lust: Poison Ivy
Gluttony: Croc
Wrath: KGBeast
Envy: Hugo Strange
Sloth: Freeze
Greed: Penguin
Pride: Riddler
Why is Freeze sloth?
Depression. Sloth is connected to depression, and Freeze is extremely depressed. He refuses to move forward with his life, and takes his pain out on others. He wants everyone to feel as cold as him.
Fair enough, I would've put Owlman, put I guess that makes sense.

Do top 5, 10 eyed man stories.
You should do an underrated Batman Rogue video about Mr.Bloom.
Will you also cover his friend Dr. Milo?
Maybe as a Forgotten Villain, yeah.
I've never met Hugo Strange in my life
I liked "Terror" but I think it's more a better story for Scarecrow than Hugo Strange. Yeah so true. He's one of few rogues TAS really screwed up.

FUNNY HOW HUGO dress as barman. But also what costom that he's currently wearing.I wonder what Hugo favourite costume of the barman is.
thanks for the video
Dope
You know I'm a bit confused about Hugo strange is short or average size in the DCAU he short but in The Batman series he is taller than the ventriloquist and in Gotham he's Asian. So tell me Gotham rouges are you going to do a top 5 Hugo strange design?
Yeah he must be a shape shifting Clayface! Nah sorry I'm not going to do such a video.. Don't have much to say about his designs..
Are you going to do them really soon the mad monk and dr death? Gotham rouges
Not sure when I'll do them, there's still some stuff with them that I need to pick up.
the bat bindel is so funny. I'm gonna use it for memes.
Question, will you do a video about the Crime Doctor?
Yes, most likely!
So whould prey be near the top of a top ten Doug mensch story list?
I gotta be honest. Your arkham tapes are the best hugo strange story by a longshot.
Hey,what do you think about the War of Jokes and Riddles so far? Its pretty awesome in my opinion
Haven't read it yet, I'm waiting for the trade. It does seem really interesting though and I'll definately review it.
Gotham Rogues Ok,very nice! And thanks for the reply!
I like the design
+Gotham Rogues what's your opinion on professor Milo?
good vid
it's funny I'm playing batman Arkham city while I'm watching this .
I think his "generic" design makes him stand out from the other rogues.
That’s just what I was thinking.
09:50 he has a weird lump on the top of his head. Maybe a tumor
It's not a toomah!
Looks like I am commenter number 100.
He is very interesting of a villain.
Mr.Wayne..
I'm amazed TAS depicted him as just some money hungry prick
& we had to wait for The Batman to do a more entertaining version.
Actor WHO really must Play Hugo Strange are Jared Harris , guys !!!!
As an Pateron, I demand an Prof Pyg Top five stories or something dedicated to him.
Screw your demands
Edit: I wanna see that to
Ok, won't pledge anymore...sorry have an nice life.
k
Jeremy Fein - You do realize that 'Zeke Young' isn't me right?
Actors who should really Play Hugo Strange are Christoph Waltz , Jared Harris , Ben Kingsley and Jackie Earle Haley !!!!!!
It's really too bad Hugo wasn't THE archenemy of Batman. His intellect alone could have been dangerous for Bruce, plus Hugo is calculating and cold whereas the Joker was too maniacial even for his own good.
