Disable the Ethernet in settings, unplug it, turn off router, plug in Ethernet and then enable, and then turn on the router and hall should be go to go.
this helped me and hopefully it helps you guys.

made no difference to my computer. still no internet on the secured wireless network. Anyone have any other ideas? I should say this is the first video I have found that actually mirrors the commands and screens on my laptop. most show completely different interfaces

Steps didn't work for me unfortunately. I disabled my network adapter, unplugged it(external USB), shutdown and disconnected my power cable, restarted and used network troubleshooter to fix it.

@@milesswier6095 sorry for the late reply. To this day I'm still not sure if it was me or my router setup, but I reinstalled my network adapter drivers (was a linksys stick), and did everything above and it worked out for me.
