- How to move your Native Instruments sample libraries for Kontakt, Battery, Reaktor, etc... to a new drive, and re-link the content using Native Access.
#NativeInstruments
When you buy a new hard drive or SSD and want to use it for your Native Instruments content, you don't need to re-install the 100's of GB's of sample content.
All you need to do is move the current content to the new drive, and re-link the samples using Native Access.
Understand, the CONTENT is NOT the applications! Those will remain on your OS drive. The CONTENT is the sample libraries, things like: The Grandeur, The Orchestra Complete, Damage, Evolve, etc...
For the example in the video, we are moving the Content from a hard disk drive (HDD), to a Solid State Drive (SSD).
Move the sample content to the new drive.
Open Native Access and relocate the content using the RELOCATE ALL button.
Once you're done, in Native Access, open Preferences - and make sure you change the CONTENT location to the new drive so any future installs and updates are installed to the proper location.

*If you have a problem with Komplete Kontrol after moving and re-linking, you can try: opening in standalone, rescan, update, or uninstall/re-install.
I suggest a 2TB SSD if you have KOMPLTE ULITMATE or higher. You could get by with a 1TB SSD if you have standard KOMPLETE, but I would still suggest a 2TB if possible - that way you will have plenty of room to add more Kontakt libraries in the future.

This made it SO EASY!!!! Thank you for covering this so thoroughly in 4 minutes. Why didn’t native instruments make this video? They owe you bro for real
Finally, a legit video that's complete and straight to the point.
Thx! Definitely a needed video. Saved a lot of time!
Thank you so much! Great video
Thank you so much for this!
Fantastic... super, super clear...
Very helpful! Thankyou!
What a concise video - nice one!
Thank you for this! I already have everything linked up to my 2nd HDD in my Mac mini so I’m good to go. But Native Instruments really needs to make uninstalling an easier process. Like Arturia, Softube, Waves, Korg, etc...
Thanks dude!
Thank you for this! Got a new SSD last October but was hesitant to move my Kontakt libraries. Within 15 mins from watching this, I was able to move them all.
Just a note that for existing projects that use Kontakt (I use FL Studio), some libraries might have issues locating their own "samples" folder (the dialog that pops-up does have a button to manually point to the new location).
Hi, I changed my file location for the downloads and content but it still installs to a different location. Any tips or is it just more of a manual move thing. Thanks in advanced!
there is no reloacte all button on the new native access 2 seems like one by one is my only options and that is insanity
I have a older Mac I Mac and I’m about to transfer my stuff to a newer Mac. What do u think will be the the way to transfer Maschine and plug-ins to another with using a external drive
genial
and what about unfinished ongoing projects?
with all libraries removed, relocate etc
will the DAW be able to play songs as they were before ?
it might sound silly
but i am afraid loosing stuff i have not finished yet
Manually load them then then the daw will remember the location
hey! nice vid...just a quick q tho...I'm moving all my content ( and not the players as said ) but all stuff Ive installed so far seemss to have ended up in my shared folder...how can I tell which ones NOT to move? or have you got a list of players I shouldn't move?
Don't move any of the programs! Just the samples.
Can I have different drive locations for different libraries? I want to have my smaller libraries on my desktop and laptop individually and have bigger ones like session horns on an SSD so it can be used depending on which one I have it plugged in.
After relocating to an external drive, in Windows 10 How can I use it on another computer without needing to do a separate reload on an additional hard drive and redo the full procedure all over again?
Good video. A couple things come to mind: In my Cubase Pro 11 its reading my Kontakt 6 (icon is on my pc desktop) non demo mode from Komplete 12 Ultimate, Cubase is still reading this as a 32 bit plugin. NI says that Kontakt 6 by default is 32 bit then gets activated to 64 bit when out of demo mode. This isn't happening for me. Any idea how to change it to a 64 bit plugin? Second, in another video on this process it said that for the original location I need to change the location file from say Kontakt 6 add a letter or number so the host wont recognize the original location. I like your method better. Am I missing something here? Thanks.
I don't know why you are loading a 32 bit version. Make sure you have the 64 bit VST path added in Cubase is all I can suggest.
If you are not going to delete the original content, then you can change the folder name so it breaks the link in Native Access and you can relocate the libraries all at once. But since we deleted the original content folder, that's not necessary.
Just make sure you have moved everything before you delete, otherwise you'll have to re-install content you didn't move.
@@BenoniStudio Thanks for the fast reply. I think I installed Kontakt 6 in 32 bit mode initially to save hard drive space because Kontakt 6 in 32 bit mode works fine in Fl. Studio. I only had Fl. Studio and a dead hard copy of Reason 10, which crashes on me upon start. I uninstalled Reason 10 and I can't even install it from the DVD anymore, but that's a whole separate issue. As you know Cubase no longer supports 32 bit plugins. I tried uninstalling Kontakt 6 hoping that by reinstalling it again from Native Access would change it to 64 bit but apparently its still 32-64 bit in Fl. Not just 32 bit or just 64 bit. Cubase still wont recognize Kontakt 6. It does in Cubase 6.5 though. At least I know how to move Kontakt 6 over to my new m.2 ssd I installed myself. Thanks for trying 😀
Does this also work if i move to a new pc/mac?
I moved all my Libraries to a external hard drive and Komplete Kontrol keeps saying "Could not load Plug-in"...You can audition the presets but they want load up I've uninstalled/reinstall and deleted everything and started over nonething seems to work...
Do you do zoom sessions?
what a voice
This is very helpful! However, when loading existing projects (at least in Samplitude) I still have to change the path for each and every project instrument that used Kontakt. (all other vst, and vsti that I moved work perfectly without issue). I don't think Kontakt likes us very much! Which maybe why East/West and Cinesamples (just naming a few) have developed their own players. Hallelujah! Looking forward to the day Kontakt is no longer necessary. It has made my life (and many others judging from multiple posts) miserible. Thanks again!
It seems easy but after doing exactly this- all my NI libraries are in Demo mode. So what next, reinstall everything?
double check Native Access and make sure everything is authorized.
hp z gang,lol
Nope! doesn't work
....so. This is a Video for people who can't read instructions on a screen?
So many Capital Letters in the Tiltle, what is that supposed to do? You do know that Capitals equal yelling on the internet, or do you not know that?
