About time, an unbiased Geordie opinion about their rival neighbours. If these two cities actually supported each as a joint venture as ‘ Tyne and Wear’ who knows how much money could come into the area .
Fantastic video mate! Nice to see not just Sunderland, but the whole of our region doing well keep up the great work showcasing our wonderful part of the country! 👌👌👌👍👍👍
I mean seriously, my Mackem friends, I wouldn't take it to heart. What does the Telegraph know about anywhere other than the London suburbs and the Home Counties? Never been to Sunderland myself but I once had a housemate from there and she was nice. So that's positive! I'm a northerner myself but when I first met her I couldn't understand a word she said. I thought she was speaking German...
the daily telegraph reporters have probably never visited Sunderland and what about the stadium of light ! there is building going on around that, Mowbray park is wonderful. we had at one time the longest steel bridge, biggest shipyards, oldest coal mine in the world. and 'cannonball rock' found behind blacks cafe corner is unique.
Great video with lots of good information. I think most of the people who write these articles have never visited places for themselves. The investment in Sunderland over the last few years is impressive after years of neglect, so hopefully it continues. 🤞
@@ganforbaitlike 👍. Rode past the Sheepfolds on my bike recently and there is a lot going on down there, so should be good. The new footbridge is progressing and it will be good when it’s all linked together.
Good video, I've lived here all my life and I have to say it's not that bad, seems to be on the up anyway. Do miss the leisure centre and the glass centre though. My only advice to prospective visitors, try and avoid coming here by road if you can, pothole central.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. It feels like it’s a city on the up with lots and lots of investment. Hopefully good times ahead for Sunderland 😊
For a post industrial city and all the problems associated with that Sunderland is ok and improving dramatically. It’ll take time though especially with the retail like everywhere else struggling.
Huge improvements already being delivered and it’s only going to get better with all of the planned developments coming to fruition. A very exciting future for Sunderland 😊
The centre used to be lovely. Like South Shields town centre. My god if you weren’t depressed you will be if you went there now. I’ve never seen so many shops with chip board doubled glazed windows.
Looking a bit better when I was last there and Idols was open (roughly 1986 or so). I had my first illegal drink (Pernod and black) in The Rosedene c1981 or so.
@michaelj3282 Pernod and black! That’s a blast from the past mind 😂 Yeh, a lot of investment going in, it’s going to be an even greater place to visit for food and drink once the Sheepfolds development comes to fruition too
Slagging Sunderland off you can see why if you live in the north east ..and know the rough spots and seek them out ignoring the good spots .. there are many good parts to Sunderland..If there's deprevation and rough areas and not much to do its down to the Southern powers that be ignoring the region over the years ..no investment or govt funded projects of note ..This region has been short changed and left to rot for many many years..The people are fine people and warm if they take you into their community..Im from Newcastle and have went out with many a Sunderland Lass. and was always well loved by many families on Wearside. Jimmy Montgomery my Sporting hero and don't forget that great Sunderland side from 1973.. the greatest cup final ever, Im a Newcastle Fan but grew up with many of those players from back then..I was never out of the Gym at the Northumbria centre and used to have egg and chips at Ritchie Pits house ..Maisonette in Washington.
Always thought Sunderland was a suburb of Newcastle. The few times I have been up north from London everyone goes on about how cool Newcastle is. Will check out this Sunderland place next time. Looks like a nice little town
The thing people don’t realise is, Newcastle city centre has many listed buildings whereas Sunderland had the options to demolish buildings and restore. It’s on track to be something Newcastle couldn’t be and will soon be known as the UK’s first and only Smart Green city. A 5G network, The brand new Housing Innovation Construction Skills Academy and Geothermal Energy Centre, Culture House and Eye Hospital are all going to be catalysts for a specific niche to Sunderland and will draw people from all over. And that’s without the economics benefits of Crownworks. Watch this space Sunderland will be the place to be.
And every place he went to was empty sunderland has nothing worth visiting museum is an hour glass centre has gone seaburn has been crap for years shield is better most city's have food and pubs but there's nothing to see

Thanks for that feedback, couldn’t agree more. We have a lot more in common with each other than anything that divides us
Kier Starmmer has managed to unite both cities against him , now in 4 weeks that took a massive effort lol
Great video and thanks for hi lighting our city xx

Thank you, Sunderland is going from strength to strength. Sheepfolds Stables opening imminently too, so keep an eye out for a video on that 😊

At least Sunderland Council are doing something about improving the city, it seems like South Shields was given up on a long time ago 😢
Good lad good on ya appreciate that video
Thanks very much for the feedback and for taking the time to comment 😊
Is it a bad city ? According to your video, it seems to me very nice 🤷🏻♀️. Much better than horrible places in London
No it’s not a bad city at all and it’s only getting better! 😊
Brilliant honest review 👍
Thanks so much for the feedback 😊😊😊
Sunderland is excellent :) Whoever wrote the article and/or did the scientific data gathering hasn't a clue :)
Couldn’t agree more
and to add Roker pie the best stone pier there is anywhere.
pier that should be
Used to have brilliant pub routes in the 70s and 80s then too many bars opened which were empty then closed.. greed.
Hopefully the good times will be back again with the investment coming into the city! 😊

😂😂😂😂😂 Sunderland will always be a 💩 hole of a place nobody knows were Sunderland is and nobody go's to Sunderland for a week end
It's not as bad as Stoke on Trent,,,,,,,,,,,,
Annoying music and annoying unnecessary food close ups..Did it not occur to you to actually ask some of the locals what they think of Sunderland?
