What is there to do in Sunderland?

What is there to do in Newcastle? Well, in short, there's loads to do! And the people are amongst the friendliest in the whole of the UK. From the Castle, to the Quayside, to the Cathedral on the Hill to what the mighty black and whites! There's loads of history and culture here and also lots of pubs, most are dog friendly too. 0:00 - Intro 0:13 - Newcastle Castle 1:57 - Wylam Brewery 2:50 - Ne...

The Best Pizza in Newcastle Upon Tyne?
Nice video
Thank you!!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Diego's is a top-notch bar like little hidden gem. Some class beers 🍻
It’s amazing, isn’t it! 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Fantastic spot, mate. Great video as well.
@@gary8501thanks so much!! 😊
Always thought Sunderland was a suburb of Newcastle. The few times I have been up north from London everyone goes on about how cool Newcastle is. Will check out this Sunderland place next time. Looks like a nice little town
Let us know how you get on 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
For sure mate , was the transporter bridge in A pet there? 👍
@@adamwynyard4065 no that was through Middlesbrough way
Thx - another place I have never been accept to watch football
I mean seriously, my Mackem friends, I wouldn't take it to heart. What does the Telegraph know about anywhere other than the London suburbs and the Home Counties? Never been to Sunderland myself but I once had a housemate from there and she was nice. So that's positive! I'm a northerner myself but when I first met her I couldn't understand a word she said. I thought she was speaking German...
Sunderland is excellent :) Whoever wrote the article and/or did the scientific data gathering hasn't a clue :)
Couldn’t agree more
Looking a bit better when I was last there and Idols was open (roughly 1986 or so). I had my first illegal drink (Pernod and black) in The Rosedene c1981 or so.
@michaelj3282 Pernod and black! That’s a blast from the past mind 😂 Yeh, a lot of investment going in, it’s going to be an even greater place to visit for food and drink once the Sheepfolds development comes to fruition too
A city on the up! Some class independent food places there now.
@@tuesdaysampson-st6sq🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
As a Geordie by birth The Toon will always be in my blood - even though for work I left in 1992 and now live 3,500 miles away in Dubai. Gannin' oot in the late 80s earlt 90s in the Bigg Market where trebles were a quid at the Blackie Boy (plus mixer for 50p), what mental nights we had there, the lasses with no coats and blue knees in the winter when it's snowing. Crazy days, happy days, nee hassles ever. Handyside arcade, the Mayfair in a Friday night, the gigs at the city hall. Great vid, just subscribed.
Thank you for the sub @michaelj3282 and for the great memories! My first gigs were back at the Mayfair, what a great time
Love Gingerinos!! Will have to try Slice and I've heard great things about Flint (think it's in Heaton)!
@kimmyettewood7720 Oh yes you’ll have to let us know how you get on! And yes, Flint has been on my list for what feels like a decade 😂 heard lots of good things 🍕🍕🍕
I really hope they don't destroy this city by relocating a large population claiming asylum. I want to mover here
🔥
❤️❤️❤️
Worst place ever nowt to do for kids it’s the worst place to live trust
Pizza Slice, the best. A hand shaped pizza with a proper, raised crust proper crust. Anyone who uses a rolling pin should be avoided. That Detroit, Square looks disgusting and like nothing I've ever seen in Italy. How about the biggest pizza in Newcastle - 30" or about 760 mm diameter from Pizzaholic on Chillingham Road.
Square actually reminds me of Pizzarium Bonci in Rome but is obviously far removed from the Neapolitan style of pizza.
I wouldn’t mind having a go at the 30” one 😂😂
It's now a big student city. Doesn't feel like a Geordie place now. Durham is a nicer city
Maybe I'll try and do a Durham one in the future if people are interested 😀
I've probs walked past half of these and not known they exist, wounded.
@vallentedunn you’ll have to try them now 🍕🍕🍕

Burger Drop on West Road is nice. So is Friez&Burgz on Shields Road
I’ve been to the OG Friez@Burgz in South Shields but not Burger Drop yet. It’s on the list! 🍔🍔🍔
Little Ninos in Spital Tongues is spot on
It’s on the list! I might need to do an episode 2 😊
You missed the magnificent Theatre. Royal, and didn't mention all the cinema s
You’re right! I did feature the beautiful Theatre Royal in a Christmas video I did, but just goes to show how many amazing things there is to do in Newcastle! Thanks for commenting 😊
Best thing in Newcastle is the road out.
Obviously a sad Mackem 😂😂
What's wrong with Newcastle? Please tell me what you dislike
Nothing...it was just a joke
The first building you entered is the bagpipe museum and not the Keep, Wylam brewery is the old military museum.
😢club Chicken Lettuce Under Bacon
@beduffmonkey apparently not true, the CLUB acronym is an urban myth. More details in description 😊
When I hit 18 that big market pub crawl was a thing of absolute Bliss. 1990 to 2000 then it changed "rubbish these days" I always go back to my fond memories sitting chilling in Leazes park/Exhibition park. My 2 favourite places by far.
@privateeye121 “going out” always seemed to be much better when I was younger! 😊

Great video! Try Dough Daze on Ridley street...£2 a slice or £6 for a whole pizza...spot on! Great just before the match.
@toonarmy98 ah thanks for the compliment, really appreciate it! Yeh I know it but haven’t got round to trying, it’s on my list though! Thanks for the support 😊

Best thing to do in Newcastle erm train station get a one way ticket out of that dump of a city 😅
The bridges are nice and the quayside but the city itself feels dirty, rough and run down
@@tomjardine100 Nah mate everything is run down even the people lol 😂 no teeth no clean clothes no fresh deodorant
drink beer and smerk tabs
Best thing about Newcastle is it borders Sunderland so instead of hanging around aimlessly with nothing to do just jump on a metro or use the very efficient bus service to visit the pearl of the north east Sunderland, all the top shops are situated handily for the discerning shopper, bargains galore can be found on every street corner, but i must warn you don't come when Sunderland are playing at home unless you enjoy the carnival atmosphere generated by Sunderland supporters from all parts of the globe.
@patrickkelly-lz3pv keep your eyes peeled because there’s a Sunderland video coming very soon! 😊
Haha all the top shops are in sunderland, poundland, costcutter and home bargains spoilt for choice !!!
Nowt in mackemshire
Is that the same Sunderland that’s been named on the worst cities in the UK list ?
@@apb3440 Jealous Geordies made that list, I travel from my home in Ireland every year to spend my two weeks vacation in Seaburn, wonderful beaches lovely people too.
It's The Castle Keep. I can't stand the new name!
Either way it’s definitely something to be proud of 😊
Dunno how I found meself here, but the YT algorithm works in mysterious ways... Can vouch for all those choices! Except "Square", which I haven't been to yet, that looks lush! Will give that a go this week hopefully! Oh, and easy subscribe!
@philrob1978 wow, thanks for that, really nice words and appreciate it. Haven’t been doing this long, so just trying to get better at it! You’ll love Square!! 🍕🍕🍕
@@ganforbaitlike Well, "Square" was amazing, tasty as f**k - so going back there for more! Thanks for the recommendation! Should have told them you sent me there - you might have got a discount next time you went!

Hi mate. Great video. I'll be in Newcastle on Saturday 4 May with a group of friends on a stag. Can you recommend some some decent pubs / sports bars for a few afternoon beers. Any outdoor food halls with DJs etc would also be class.
@gringofitness3030 hey there, thanks so much for the feedback! Slice Wars takes place Saturday 4th at Wylam Brewery, loads of the best pizza makers in town competing against each other. It’s indoors and outdoors. DJ’s on, great beer and great food. Free entry too. Lots of places for sports bars, The Gate is a decent shout for sports bars, but you’ve also got the Bigg Market and the Quayside area too! Maybe I should do a video just for drinking 😊
What a great vid. I’m a local lass but have never been to the Wylam Brewery. It’s in my list now 💕💕💕 Subbed to you. 👍🏻
@geordiegirl164 ah thanks so much, that’s very kind of you. Haven’t been doing it long so still trying to get better. You’ll love Wylam Brewery, thanks for the sub ❤️❤️❤️
Good video but not too keen on the added soundtracks, I need to keep the volume on to hear the commentary etc.
Thank you for the positive feedback. I’m sorry about the sound issues, I’m still just learning 👍
