It is fun watching John sing some Opera with Anthony. This is the Main Event Concert, Olivia Newton John came home and also starred in it. Anthony had been through some nasty cancer treatment so John and Livvie toured with him for 3 months. Anthony is our top musical theatre star in shows like Phantom of the Opera. They are 3 of the nicest people you could meet. I have friends that after seeing this Concert bought tickets to see it three times because it was that good. It is on RUclips if you ever want to see it. Thank you.
This is part of a show called "The Main Event" Anthony (a successful opera singer), John and Olivia Newton-John A fantastic mix of comedy, great singing and entertainment
I was at that concert and it was amazing. It was called The Main Event, and the camaraderie between John, Anthony and Olivia Newton-John was really special. Anthony Warlow is a legend in Australian musical theatre and was our first Phantom of the Opera. He’s also performed on Broadway. I think you’ve already done a duet with Olivia Newton-John and John Farnham, Please don’t ask me. I hope you get to do some more from this fantastic concert.
Anthony Warlow is a well known great opera singer and Australia’s first phantom and have always loved his powerful operatic tone. Anthony did a lot of the main opera plays In the 80’s and 90’s and my favorite was Anthony singing “Anthem”. John, well what can you say, John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time and can sing anything, in any genre, and as we see here even opera he can hold his own.
I watched this concert when it came to Perth and it was one of the best concerts I ever saw. Both Anthony and John are the top of their respective musical genres. Anthony is our King of Australian Opera, and John simply the top of just about any genre of music this country. And to have them both together in the one place along with Olivia Newton John, what more could you ask for..❤❤❤
Anthony Warlow is another Aussie treasure. He survived cancer (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma) that nearly ended his career and his life. Andrew Lloyd Webber once said Anthony Warlow was the best Phantom of the Opera, and he has had a huge career both in Oz and in the UK (still going strong). He's also very, very funny and an expert mimic. The funny voice he used when asking for a towel was Frank Spencer from Some Mothers Do Have 'Em, played by Michael Crawford who was also the first Phantom when the musical first opened in London. The white hanky was a reference to legendary opera maestro Luciano Pavarotti, who never went on stage without one.
Farnham put this concert together for Anthony Warlow and Olivia Newton-John. Anthony and Olivia were fresh into their cancer remission and John put this together to get them both back onto the stage that they both loved so much. He made sure they were both comfortable and had great backing and reassurance from him. The Australians musicans of their Era all got along and helped each other when they needed it. There was very little bitterness and competition between them. In an industry full of jealousy and competition, John was the lighthouse beacon for so many others in the endless storm of both life and careers.
Both are very funny, comedic guys ! In the same concert, 'The Main Event, Anthony sings, 'This Is The Moment', from the musical, 'Jekyll and Hyde'. It is beautifully elevating and heart-felt. Please react to it. Anthony Warlow is another of Australia's outstanding, wonderful talents. His training is in opera but he mainly does musical theatre. He was chosen from thousands of applicants from around the world to put this song on CD.
Yeah, John and Anthony enjoyed the comedy they put in with this performance. By now, I'm sure you would have seen some of John's comedic antics. Earlier in the performance, where Anthony made out to spit while singing; that part was a 'nod' to Michael Crawford's character Frank Spencer from Some Mothers Do Have Them, as Michael was the original 'Phantom' which Anthony portrayed in the Australian production of The Phantom of The Opera.
Anthony Warlow just such an incredible voice and I was very lucky to see him in Phantom Of The Opera, pure brilliance 👌. This is why we all say that John can sing any genre of music you ask him to do, from opera, to belting out a Led Zeppelin cover , pure brilliance again 😃👌👏👏👏
The song is more Spanish than Italian, and so should have had some castanetes in the background! Definitely entertainment, and another challenge for John, which he faced beautifully! Very, very Australian attitude of not taking yourself too seriously! 🤗
I went to this concert in Melbourne it was the best concert I have been to. There is a video of the whole concert with John Anthony Warlow and Olivia Newton John 3hrs of pure entertainment you must try and see it

The title High Art is a pun. The song Granada is from the opera The Exile of Granada, a 'high art' form. The stage rises as they start to sing, raising their art high. John starts this part of the show with "Hi, Art".
From this same concert, John performs with Olivia Newton John singing Please Don't Ask Me. This is a duet version of one of John's songs. This performance, is pure theatre of a beautiful romantic ballad.
@@briangill4000 Hi Brian! My memory isn’t good either, however for some weird reason, I MOSTLY remember numbers! I can’t explain it! Maybe thats why I’m weird! LOL!
