      That was how teams did manage their rosters for decades. The draft and start immediately is a new trend that has had questionable results. Every year the media proclaims various quarterbacks are "can't miss, the future of the NFL, will be a great player for the next decade" only to have those players riding the bench on other teams after 2 bad years and out of the league shortly thereafter. I remember when the Packers developed 2 or 3 quarterbacks behind the starter and get some extra draft picks from them. With the league being a passing offense league teams should be developing quarterbacks but until one team successfully does it the copycat league will continue to destroy quarterbacks careers by starting them too early.

    Aaron Rodgers is second to none in throwing the football. Maybe just maybe the Packers came to the conclusion that Aaron could not win the big game any more.. In his last three playoff games he under performed. I need a 50 million a year quarterback to play like one come playoff time. Let's see what Love can do, If he gets us to the playoffs and we get bounced, is it really any different. Just a whole lot cheaper.

    LOL...Of this guy is going to say that. You're always going to champion the guy that's paying you. I am looking forward to having some mobility back in play at the QB position but we really need someone in the front office that isn't going to just sit on their hands when talent exits.

    • @davidbrown7357

      I think you will see a different approach because it's Gutey's draft at QB. He stalled Aaron out. But it cost more than they wanted in the price process. Let's be honest if Aaron was there guy till retirement, he would have been given all necessary tools. This strung out longer than some wanted, but it will finally end this year. Aaron had been a problem for years now. I think he really wanted out without the blame on himself.

    Very trustworthy words coming from his 9th grade high school coach

  • @raheppe
    @raheppe Год назад +1

    The coach has coached him since 9th grade specifically as his position coach yet after those 4 years of H.S., 3 years college and 3 years in the NFL, 10 years total coaching this man, he needed a different coach to tell him how to address accuracy issues that have been consistently present that entire career!? Okay, either that coach ain't worth his salt OR everything he has tried also hasn't worked OR it has actually worked, incrementally, as will this, but Jordan is just not naturally a very accurate thrower of the ball. The exact opposite of Rodgers. Accuracy IS a critical skill in the NFL, it is every bit the most important skill right next to ability to read defense and anticipate. Gee, what are the two things they have most recently tried to develop??? You said it, his accuracy and his ability to anticipate (read, understand, then attack, chess like). 3 years in and they are worried about the two most important traits in an NFL qb. That is alarming to me. And it is my concern about the player since the day they drafted him. The writing on the wall tells me he'll be very athletic, he'll make some big plays with that cannon arm, he'll do some exciting stuff escaping the pocket, they might be able to design some exciting plays where he bootlegs or rushed the ball, but ultimately what will matter is when they are forced into passing situations, we'll see bad decisions, INT's, bad passes, etc. LaFleur hasn't proven to be able to carry his weight in strategy, play design, scheme (which is rich considering that is why he got his job) and I worry this is all going to come to a head that leads to retirement from Murphy and then a cleaning house of GM and coaching.

Once he gets a rhythm for game day and the jitters out the way he’ll turn the corner and be who he’s destined to be. This isn’t a rookie or even a 2nd year guy. This is a 4th year guy with all the time and guidance in the world to be an nfl qb. The point of stashing him for this long is to have an nfl ready replacement for AR. I don’t necessarily expect wins but he’s definitely gotta have a statistically sound year to warrant investing in his future. This league is easy come and easy go so he’s very very fortunate to have been given this much time and capital invested in him. I believe in him for sure but let’s not act like he needs a ton more time to know who he is. With that being said GB better get him an pro ready weapon to work with, it’s the other guys on the offense that may need some extra patience

    I just lost a ton of respect for Aaron. Though I still respect and appreciate him, I definitely have taken him off the pedestal. I claimed as soon as Davante Adams left that Aaron Rodgers would leave the following year. Incorrectly I predicted he’d be going to the Raiders and Carr would be going to Washington, but I knew Aaron was leaving. It just seems he’s been dishonest about his intentions. I just wish he would have said “I just want to try playing somewhere else” without trying to blame the packer organization. Despite history showing almost to a 100 percent rate, when new GM’s and coaches come in they get a new QB. Aaron thought he would be the exception. He claims there are no hard feelings when clearly he has been sticking it to the organization since drafting Love. Look how pissed off he gets when Rappaport or Sheftner accurately guess or report on what Aaron is going to do.

      Are you available to be the backup? Every team has a backup or 2 but your comment indicates that you KNOW Jordan Love will be a horrible quarterback. If you are old enough to have been around during the transition from Favre to Rodgers I think you probably felt that the Packers "better have a backup" then as well. I doubt Jordan will be as good as Aaron was in his prime, nobody else has been. I do think that Jordan will have a decent career and hopefully be more of a team player and less of a malcontent distraction then Rodgers has been the past several years. Rodgers has been one of the best if not the best quarterback of all time but he has not been a team player in several years. Aaron only does what is best for himself not for the team. Aaron could have played for less money like Tom Brady did and many other players over the decades to allow their team to retain them and field as many good players as possible but Aaron did what was best for himself. Aaron demanded a commitment from the team, he received a 3 year $150 million commitment. Aaron showed his commitment by skipping voluntary team activities rather than gaining familiarity with the rookies. To show that Aaron was truly committed to the team immediately after the final game he said he would have to decide if he wanted to retire, return or request a trade, not much commitment there. To again show he was a team player he announced he would not hold the team hostage and decide BY March. Aaron decided 1/3 through March just a couple days before free agency. Then to show how understanding and loyal he is on the McAfee show he claimed he was going to retire until his people told him the Packers had looked into potential trade partners that Aaron might actually agree to be traded to. Aaron is intelligent enough to know that the Packers would have to look into potential trade partners before free agency began. You can be fooled into feeling Aaron is the victim but I am sure that Aaron orchestrated this entire scenario. Unfortunately for Aaron the Packers are not fooled and are holding strong to get decent trade value for him. If the Jets don't want to pay, Aaron can decide if he wants to be the highest paid backup in the history of the NFL or retire. Unlike you appear to be an Aaron Rodgers fan, I and many others are Packers fans. I wish Aaron well, I hope the Jets pay the asking price and Aaron has success with his new team or Aaron enjoys his retirement. Aaron has shown his time in Green Bay is over. Aaron forgot that the Packers drafted him at #24 overall when no other teams wanted him. The Packers developed him and gave him the opportunity to become one of the best quarterbacks ever and made him wealthy. If the Packers didn't draft Rodgers he was predicted to be drafted in the 3rd or 4th round. If another team drafted him in later rounds would he have become the player he became? Most likely not based on other players development. Most likely Aaron would have warmed the bench for 3 - 5 years and would be out of the league for several years now. But hey, keep being an Aaron Rodgers fan I'll keep being a Packers fan.

    Packer fan since 56'.......perfectly fine with Rodgers leaving - it's just time.......I believe Green Bay is the quarterback school of the NFL.....and.....feel really good that Jordan Love is a future HOF'er!!! Can't wait to see if I'm right about him.....

    No no don't hop on the love train now I remember y'all calling him a bust like he was really gonna beat out Rodgers a top five ish QB of all time. Dude basically didn't get a preseason one year then he got thrown in into the loudest place to play aka Kansas City then this year he kinda balled out. If he can throw 3300-3500 yards 24-28 yes I'd take that four his first year starting

      To be fair all QBs usually run the play clock down to zero. Especially QBs who make a lot of adjustments on the fly like Brady, Peyton and brees. That’s not a negative

      Coming out of college, Love already had a certain level of heroball to his game which is part of why he was drafted. You want a guy who is capable of it when necessary. Problem with Rodgers was he developed a nasty habit of doing it when he didnt need to. Here's to hoping Love finds the guidance to know when and when not to let it loose.
