@@AsuraNull what you're saying makes complete sense but (in my opinion) isn't the right response to the original comment. Adaption works great, the way you mentioned it, when the original work is a far way from what our society actually resembles in current times. For example, how True Blood was adapted to have characters that actually look like what you'd find in 20th-21st century Louisiana. But the key is that those show runners respected the original work (therefore were able to add to its legacy with little negative feedback). Adapting work to fit its modern environment isn't quite the same thing as adding to that work's legacy when it's not respected to begin with. Thaned will be a catalyst for the story in the long term and this season focuses to bring the storyline closer to the original for it to take place the same way.
This season has been the worst. You can definitely see why he left as you watch the season. The writers obviously could care less about the source material and thus lost the best part of the Witcher which was Cavill.
I suppose he took a note out of Ryan Arey's book to pronounce names wrong for what I think is comments like yours and mine. More comments -> better for the algorithm.
I have to say that this season was by far the most lore accurate I have seen. I was prepared to jump on the hate train but in the first episodes I am very happy with the general direction this show is taking. I was disappointed with season 2 but if they keep going on with the source material from this point on I don’t understand why Henry Cavill wants to leave. This season is lore accurate…
I agree compared to season 2 this is like night and day. They followed surprisingly well the books plot now and there were many "Oh, I remember this from books!" moments for me to enjoy.
I don't know, there's a lot plots and characters who have been added from elsewhere. Stregabor shouldn't be around and they have made much more out of Istredd than was in the books. I just find it distracting and hard to get into personally. It seems like the things that weren't really addressed in the books are being filled in by the show. Like this is WAY more Cahir than we would have of him in the books. We wouldn't see him until the cart is liberated and they find the coffin with him trapped in it.
@@BuhurtUKone of worst thing for me was radavoid was not only brother of Vizmir but victims of redinan inner politics. Absolutely butcher the witcher materials. Not to forget that they brought awful looking actress of Magrita and Keira metz.

@@thewatcher2538 ohhh yeah, I remember being quite disappointed with it, I think I forgot how bad it was because I watched this latest one 😂 This is just a mess though and feels very padded out too.
I love the books and games, didn't mind first and second season mainly because I enjoy seeing the characters in live action but wish they did a better job at staying true to the characters. Season 3 so far to me seems more entertaining than the previous 2 but still not what the show should ultimately be.
Ikr. I understand that people are mad about Henry leaving the cast and it feels like because of that, they are not giving this 3rd season any chance. I personally I didn't find it perfect but it was waaaaay better than whatever they gave us in season 2. This season has it shortcomings but it is far more enjoyable than the last season.
@@chammychamchas absolutely agree, this season was a nice surprise and if the second season was like this no one would've ever complained. The only complaint I have is that dyed hair doesn't really fit haha
As a fan of the books, I was mad about the whole show since season 1. It was always ridiculously terrible and will continue to be so, since the shitty events will necessarily carry out to subsequent seasons (unless they retcon stuff, which I don't see happening and still wouldn't erase the past mistakes).
I’m so sad that Cavill is leaving he was the perfect casting and has grown into the character perfectly I doubt Liam Hemsworth will be able to do the role Justice
the video says this, people were against Cavill to begin with so I don't think "perfect casting" can be said. He TURNED OUT to be fantastic but fans were not on his side to start. I think Liam can do the role justice but he could have a perfect performance and the season will still get hate and negative ratings because of the writing and switching actors.
Does anyone else miss the old TV model of 24 episodes per season with a 'monster of the week' underpinned by an overarching story arc through the season? Like X-files, Buffy, Star Trek etc? The Witcher would've worked so much better with this model. Season 1 felt a bit like it was going to do that, but this season has leaned hard into padding out enough plot for a 2-hour film into a ten hour serial.
I definitely get what you mean. I thought the same about Supernatural after a while of the angels and demons line... I was like geez can we just kill a monster today??? Lol
i really love henry because he is so passionate on what he is doing and for him to let go of the witcher made me sad, i am excited for him to venture into new things. i would always support you king!
I love your channel because I work so much some of these shows I can’t watch and invest too much time if they’re going to suck so with some shows like this one I watch your breakdowns and go back and watch if it sounds fun
Are you doing a bit or something with your pronunciation of Vilgefortz? The show never once pronounces it with a "j" sound. Your subtitle file also appears to be one for a different video
Watching further, I'm getting the impression that somebody else on your team wrote this script and then you read it without watching the show. There's just too many wild mispronunciations of names that were said very clearly in the episodes. I love your content man but this is pretty jarring and feels super lazy
Can’t forget Yennefer actress she was beautiful and badass the entire time I did want to see more magic hopefully these last 3 will push her limits yet again??
The only good thing about the Witcher series is the actors who do what they can with the material, especially Cavill and Chalotra, who went all in (Chalotra did some really heavy lifting in season 1 especially).
I'm pretty sure they separated the last 3 episodes because those will be about the Coup on Thanned Island and it's gonna be completely rewritten. Like how they killed Lambert in season 2. I bet different people will die during the Coup, or in different ways than in the books just for "shock factor".
At first I was mad that the season is only 5 episodes (about to start episode 4) but you made me happy to find out it’s just part one. For those wondering why I’m hear before finishing episode 5, I subscribe to this channel because spoilers don’t bother me! I’m still gonna watch it, otherwise why else would I subscribe and watch this channel faithfully?! 😆
Love ya dude good episode, it does hurt me when you pronounce the names wrong, I know its silly of me! If it matters the series does pronounce them correctly
I feel like once Henry is fully gone from the show it's going to dip in quality unless theres someone else on the set that is actually passionate (and likely has actually read the books) about the source material instead of making something much worse
This season 3 is very slow, it's making it hard for me to understand it, I miss Visemir and the other witchers, it's strange that they don't appear yet, maybe they will appear in the last episodes of this season? and I don't like that there is so much talk between Djikstra and the other kings, episode 1 of season 3 started well but then it started to loosen up, let's see what happens with the last 3 episodes that are supposed to be good
This is my favorite season so far I’m shocked you are feeling totally opposite! I say this from the perspective of someone who has not read the books and does not play the games.
I loved season 3!!!!!! The last episode was one of the best ever! It is sad that Cavill is leaving, but the series deserves to live on and Liam Hemsworth will surely be a great Gerrault! I look forward to the last three episodes and season 4!!!!
Agreed. Henry was perfect as Geralt and it will be be very hard to win over most fans with Liam. However I am still invested in this universe and want to see the whole story completed. Next season will be very telling of the future of the show. I still wanna see what happens next, but knowing Netflix they are gonna be itching to cancel it when inevitably the viewership drops cause of Henry’s exit instead of retooling and actually listening to fans and improve the show for season 5.
The way You're pronouncing Dijkstra is actually how we do it in the Netherlands, you know the country where the witcher is getting all these names from.
@@janekmundt579the books are set in another world that humans got dragged into with the conjunction of spheres along with monsters from other worlds or universes. It is written by a guy who is Polish.
Not gonna lie... I really ENJOYED sn3, vol.1 (eps1-5) and will stick with it as long as Cavill is Geralt. Its not perfect, not its insanely greater than sn2 and its close to sn1 in terms of enjoyment. Though i speak as someone who never read the books.
i haven’t read the books or played the video games but i have looked into the lore heavily. to see all the fans of the original story upset because of the shows interpretation of it really upsets me because it feels like i shouldn’t be enjoying it too. but i am. i love all the episodes because of Henry Cavil but i do think they should’ve stuck to the source material to make sure there audience is satisfied in a accurate portrayal. But i’m in a neutral spot so i’m not affected by accuracies i just go with the flow and i really feel bad for everyone who can’t enjoy the show because of the writers not respecting what came before them.
I found this season really hard to follow. So many characters and references to lore. Also so many places...you need to have the Wikia open next to you to look up everything.
Petition to make a law that stipulates that content creators aren’t allowed to deliberately mispronounce characters names to get people to talk about it, thus driving up engagement. Thanks.
while it certainly not a perfect fixes, the show actually kinda right the course close to the books as of now. There are indeed some moments that clearly has writers own creative touches & it's indeed rather rough, especially when it comes to a dramatic interesting dialogues. Also, there are some abrupt events out of nowhere without any proper set up or explanation behind it that would clearly pose big problems if viewers do a bare minimum of questions. I still don't get why they want to add/keep certain characters in this season that clearly had zero plots, while removing actual characters from the books.
Appreciate the time you took for this video, but please, pronounce the names properly, Vilgefortz od Roggeveena, Crevan Espane aep Caomhan Macha = Avalac'h... its killing me...
Triss saving Geralt after Vilgefortz beats the shit out of him? Nah, I bet it's going to be Yennefer, since Yennefer is the entire universe and they put her into scenes where she has no room just to give her more and more screen time, so I doubt they will let Triss to be the one to take Geralt away.
As someone who has NOT read the source material I really like Witcher overall. 🤷🏾♂️ Season 2 was so-so but I feel like season 3 has been pretty good so far.
I’m not sure what to think about the show. As a long standing witcher fan (games then books now show), I felt like part 1 of season 3 was abit all over the place. They’re together, Joe they’re not, oh now they’re together. Back and forth. The way the first season worked so well was that each episode was s story in itself too. A quest. I wish this season had done that abit more. Although the fight sequences are incredible! When I saw that I was like “that’s the Witcher”. Radovid and his character change has kinda thrown me off. Like I was expecting him to be the elf hater bigot he is in the books. The Nazi of the Witcher world
I don't know what led to Cavill leaving the show - until he says so I'm not going to just believe gossip about it being his love of the material - but it will be a big loss. If he was going to leave, I just wish it had been Hemsworth from the start. Well I've watched the 5 episodes and for me it's going a lot better than season 2. Season 2 was a mess, with so many weird decisions... This time I feel they are respecting the material a bit more, and the most important parts are there. At this point it's all I can hope for. Ah and there were some fun moments.
It it just me who thinks the quality of season 3 absolutely sucks ? Like some stuff just seems so boring, the dialogue mediocre, I am currently on episode 4 and I literally do not understand the logic of some scenes or wtf the characters are even talking about sometimes. Like Cahir (the general of the white flame) seems to be arrested and sent to his death at the ending of season 2, then in episode 3 of the current season just comes back to Emhyr /white flame/Ciri's dad , for whatever reason gets a meeting with him as if nothing happened. Then in episode 2 Yennefer instead of just showing Ciri the vision of her past on the sport decides to take a full day to travel to her house which is not even there while half the world is trying to capture Ciri. Like each episode has multiple absolutely irrational moments for me, uninteresting and unexplained plot lines, and bad dialogue. Like am I the only one feeling this ?
@@neveholmes1033 Man it's not even that. the logic of some scenes just baffles me. Like the 2 instances that I gave an example of in my original comment about yennefer and Cahir and Ciri's dad like does that not make sense to you too ? and there's a ton of scenes like that.
I actually thought this season so far was better than 2-3 and enjoyed the ball tension. But I'm completely switched off from thinking of this as anyway connected to any other Witcher. The ball was enjoyable as I just imagined Witcher 3 Geralt and his moaning about being in a doublet. Defo felt like one of those quests I'd love doing like the one where he takes Triss to a party. Again just completely switched off. I don't mind Jaskier (Dandelion) being BI it fits his personality. But making Radovid basically Hitler of the north into some loveable charming gay guy when in the games he's more likely to be "Burn the sodomites!" And utterly uncouth in matters of decour.
As a huge fan of good storytelling and a Cavill fan, season 3 will be my last. Not worth watching seasons 4 and 5 if the showrunners don't give a poop about the story (exhibit A: Star Wars & KK).
If the writers openly dislike the source material, they should not have taken on the responsibility to adapt it in the first place. It's so arrogant and impudent of them!
the review that mirrored my opinion exactly... Instead of building something new the writters just wanna rewrite everything 😂... No henry cavil, no witcher mate ❤
I turned off the tv when Yennefer said they had to be “the best version of ourselves”, Gurl you a bunch of witches and warlocks… best version of you means world domination!!
While watching S3 E1 and E2 I was looking at my phone more than the show. I really like the first 2 seasons. I will watch it all because its there but I am struggling
So Henry actually wanted to stick true with the other books?????? I’m new to the Witcher …. So needless to say, I’ve been a bit confused. Not only that I read somewhere that he got fired for being a little too handsy with the ladies on set. I hope I am not spreading misinformation 😬
I haven’t read the books or played the games….. so I must have a serious hole in background understanding but the premise of this story makes no sense to me. Kingdoms want Ciri, they all know she’s with the Witcher, they all know where the Witcher is….. they keep asking him for her….why don’t they just gang up, kill him and take the girl? I get that he’s strong but they literally have armies and mages. Also, how does everyone keep teleporting to each other? Aren’t they all on foot an horse back across a large land? These folks move between scene locations like they’re on Star trek. The story line w Gerald and Yen also seems messy. There’s no real consequence or tension from the end of last season? Was really unsatisfying to me. I’m trying to get into the story but these details are getting in the way of me enjoying it. Glad to see the Witcher get some more lines and character though.
I will not be returning to watch after Henry’s last season. He is the Witcher. The best person to play the Witcher. And the writers obviously don’t give a shit about the story of the Witcher. They just care about the story they wrote

Loved the fight scenes in episode 1
What are you talking about fkn amazing but won't be watching without Cahill!
It’s not bad at all!
@@brittneyharmon6647 don't like episode 1 but getting better after episode 2
@@LYKENN Cahill?
Paul, I love you man, and all the work you do. But it's pronounced Vilg-a-fortz with a hard G
Well I've been saying it wrong lol 😂 thanks 😊
Very frustrating
I suppose he took a note out of Ryan Arey's book to pronounce names wrong for what I think is comments like yours and mine. More comments -> better for the algorithm.
Yes !
Nonsense.
No it's not
I agree compared to season 2 this is like night and day. They followed surprisingly well the books plot now and there were many "Oh, I remember this from books!" moments for me to enjoy.
Where is it lore accurate? They're just taking bits and pieces of the books and throw them together.
As a book reader I agree, a lot of scenes where I'm like "oh yeah I remember that"
I mean it's much more bookacurate then season two. i don't know how bad the second part gets that made cavill leave
@ashedarke compared to season 2.
i should have worded it different tho.. more like what made him leave now oposed to season 2 where nothing is even remotely bookacurate
@@thewatcher2538 ohhh yeah, I remember being quite disappointed with it, I think I forgot how bad it was because I watched this latest one 😂 This is just a mess though and feels very padded out too.
Season 2 was badd. Season 3 is great so far, hope part 2 holds up. Maybe a vital part changes?
I love the books and games, didn't mind first and second season mainly because I enjoy seeing the characters in live action but wish they did a better job at staying true to the characters. Season 3 so far to me seems more entertaining than the previous 2 but still not what the show should ultimately be.
I am a huge fan of the books and was really disappointed with season 2. But this season was actually very good
Lol
It would’ve worked much better as a Kevin Sorbo’s “Hercules” type of show.
i really love henry because he is so passionate on what he is doing and for him to let go of the witcher made me sad, i am excited for him to venture into new things. i would always support you king!
was starting to enjoy the Witcher and was a bit disappointed that cavill has left, well i guess the show must go on,
I love your channel because I work so much some of these shows I can’t watch and invest too much time if they’re going to suck so with some shows like this one I watch your breakdowns and go back and watch if it sounds fun
THANK YOU!! I am a bit confused about the ending and needed some insight!
Holy fucking shit. It's Vil-GUH-fortz. Not viljforts
Love your videos dude, but name pronunciation needs work
Awesome as usual. Keep killing it.
Hey Paul, Are you saying Villageforts as a joke, did I miss something?
Timestips would be so helpful in a video like this
Cintrilla? Do you mean Cintra / Xintrea?
Oh wow, Catherine McCormack (the Scottish girll from Braveheart) was in the cast too. She looked so much different now.
I don't think anyone was wondering mate, but good for you!
Carvill should play Lion-O in a live action thunderCat
Did he cover anything about Yennifer for second half or after? I didnt catch anything about her?
Love ya dude good episode, it does hurt me when you pronounce the names wrong, I know its silly of me! If it matters the series does pronounce them correctly
I feel like once Henry is fully gone from the show it's going to dip in quality unless theres someone else on the set that is actually passionate (and likely has actually read the books) about the source material instead of making something much worse
The new season grew on me and I was pissed that now I have to wait the whole month for the next episode.
This season 3 is very slow, it's making it hard for me to understand it, I miss Visemir and the other witchers, it's strange that they don't appear yet, maybe they will appear in the last episodes of this season? and I don't like that there is so much talk between Djikstra and the other kings, episode 1 of season 3 started well but then it started to loosen up, let's see what happens with the last 3 episodes that are supposed to be good
@@Jimevideo dude it's simple asf.if you don't like it that's fine but not understanding it?you problem
I noticed that they had everyone especially the men wear more makeup I can see where they are going all wrong and what's up with Istredds hair?
I didn’t even recognize him with that hair! They should’ve just left it like it was in the previous seasons.
This is my favorite season so far I’m shocked you are feeling totally opposite! I say this from the perspective of someone who has not read the books and does not play the games.
For someone with very low movie standards it's perfect
I have been enjoying it too!
Then you don’t have a clue and that’s fine. But be thankful you are a blank slate.
2:08 while watching the series I haven't noticed any jewelry on her, but in this shot she has no necklaces only red earnings...
I have ZERO interest in the show once Henry is gone. So sick of these show runners/movie execs putting themselves first over the fans
How many episodes are discussed in this review? I want to make sure I don’t spoil for myself. Just finished episode 3
The way You're pronouncing Dijkstra is actually how we do it in the Netherlands, you know the country where the witcher is getting all these names from.
Thought the books are set in Poland. Dijkstra sounds Dutch though
Thank you Paul
Yeeeeei I was waiting to see you Witcher video Yeaaa
Im team Henry all dayy long. Do it right.
Season 3 part 1 was a let down😞. Makes me understand why Henry is leaving..
I have been savouring every episode cause of it being Henry Cavill’s last season
i haven’t read the books or played the video games but i have looked into the lore heavily. to see all the fans of the original story upset because of the shows interpretation of it really upsets me because it feels like i shouldn’t be enjoying it too. but i am. i love all the episodes because of Henry Cavil but i do think they should’ve stuck to the source material to make sure there audience is satisfied in a accurate portrayal. But i’m in a neutral spot so i’m not affected by accuracies i just go with the flow and i really feel bad for everyone who can’t enjoy the show because of the writers not respecting what came before them.
@heavyspoilers I liked it a lot. The dialogue is very clever; it’s like a fantasy soap opera.
The song played by the trope at tbe conclave spells out tbe sorc behind the scenes
Henry Cavill is not just talking about the Witcher...
I found this season really hard to follow. So many characters and references to lore. Also so many places...you need to have the Wikia open next to you to look up everything.
I'm surprised the show runner didn't come out and say all previous material is considered legends and is not canon to the show.
Petition to make a law that stipulates that content creators aren’t allowed to deliberately mispronounce characters names to get people to talk about it, thus driving up engagement.
Thanks.
signed :D
while it certainly not a perfect fixes, the show actually kinda right the course close to the books as of now.
Ain't no way you spelled EVERYTHING so wrong..
i could stand villagefortz, but to say tower of contempt....does this guy know anything about this universe?
Dijkstra 🤣🤣
Triss saving Geralt after Vilgefortz beats the shit out of him? Nah, I bet it's going to be Yennefer, since Yennefer is the entire universe and they put her into scenes where she has no room just to give her more and more screen time, so I doubt they will let Triss to be the one to take Geralt away.
Freya Allen stole the show so far this season! I can see her taking the lead when cavil leave
The Nazi of the Witcher world
Thank you for watching this and breaking it down because I cancelled my Netflix over their nonsense.
Just been "pushing through" this season
I don't know what led to Cavill leaving the show - until he says so I'm not going to just believe gossip about it being his love of the material - but it will be a big loss. If he was going to leave, I just wish it had been Hemsworth from the start.
Well I've watched the 5 episodes and for me it's going a lot better than season 2. Season 2 was a mess, with so many weird decisions... This time I feel they are respecting the material a bit more, and the most important parts are there. At this point it's all I can hope for. Ah and there were some fun moments.
Thank you. I thought I was the only one noticing that course towards staying closer to the source
He still can’t pronounce names after playing W3?
😅
Monoliths that can break time? I'm glad someone likes AOS 😂
Village Forts? LOL
Really hard to listen when this guy keeps saying "village forts."
4:11 fights vs monsters are better, IMO
Coming After Watching..
the review that mirrored my opinion exactly... Instead of building something new the writters just wanna rewrite everything 😂...
No henry cavil, no witcher mate ❤
cavill needs to be in marvel
Iam seriouly lacking the motivation to watch season 3. Feel easier to watch a review like this than watch it myself.😂
It's just...not great. All the audiobooks are on RUclips if you're interested.
I turned off the tv when Yennefer said they had to be “the best version of ourselves”, Gurl you a bunch of witches and warlocks… best version of you means world domination!!
Is it only me who notices that Jens eyes is grey at the end of Ep 4 and in Ep 5 they are back to purple for some reason
Enjoyed S03 E01. Gonna finish watching the other episodes soon
Definitely felt like they split the season as an after thought.
Hi broski
I will not be returning to watch after Henry’s last season. He is the Witcher. The best person to play the Witcher. And the writers obviously don’t give a shit about the story of the Witcher. They just care about the story they wrote
It's Tissaia...It's always been Tissaia. Everyone is all "OMG I can't believe it's Vilgefortz"....It is not Vilgefortz. It's Tissaia.
Henry carried this show…
Hilarious...because I had no idea who the real bad guy was until you said...😂😂 I will miss beautiful Henry. O, Beautiful Henry C. 😍
I bet if the series doesn’t get a lot of views then they will just cancel it and not bother with Liam Hemsworth or Season 4
Definitely my favorite season. Even though season 1 was pretty good just confusing AF until the end lol
