New Gast frames released this week, I wanted them all, but had to choose one. Went with the Gate in caramel. I love my first 2 pairs.
Love love love the Uncommon -- both in black + cream....
Just got my Gast frames in. Ordered the (Not) Common in Havana flame with brown gradient lenses and the HUG frame in Havana with amber lens. Surprisingly the HUG fits a bit better since it has a higher bridge fit. That's personal preference. Both are medium sized but could look good on a larger head as well. I have a small head so they make a statement, but the lines are such that they compliment my face nicely. I usually prefer the smallest size that a frame is made if there is a choice so both of these are bold and a little large for my face. But not clownish. I think they look good.
Both frames came perfectly aligned and sit level on my face. Can't say that about Persol and Oliver People's frames, those always arrive crooked needing an optician to correct.
These Gast are fantastic. Especially for the price.
They don't look like anything I can find in stores around here. Definitely will get some comments from people, hopefully positive.
Now is the hard part... adding frames from my wishlist back into the cart!

Shipping to leave factory took about a week, but they arrived within a few days of shipping. Much faster overall than I anticipated. I'm not sure how they made any money on the deal.
Cases are bright orange instead of white. A little oversized/wide too. Probably end up using a different case for everyday use in a pocket. But the case and packaging are great. High quality. They would fit cat eye style glasses perfectly.
Back to the frames. Highly polished. Eye catching. Lenses are clear with AR coatings. Comfortable nose shape. Not heavy since the lenses are not glass. The Havana flame color is unisex. Frame sizes can be confusing but I'll try to help. The front width is slightly under 140mm but they don't get wider and they fit smaller. If the lens height is 35mm, and the Front Side is 42mm, that means the entire height is 42mm, so the acetate is 3.5mm thick above and below the lens. 35+7=42. This will help you figure out how chunky and thick the frame looks. Bridge is about 20mm. The lower the bridge sits the smaller and higher it will sit on your face. 20mm is an average fit.
I think if you want to standout a little and acetate is your thing, you can't go wrong trying Gast.
Also, you can order them from Robert at the Spectacle Factory with custom lenses if you're so inclined. And we all know he's great at making custom lenses.
Sandstone lens is Category 1. Brown gradient is cat3. Both are a pleasant color.

@@thespectaclefactory one thing I love about them is that they look different than my Maui Jims/Randolph Engineering/Persol/Oliver Peoples/Ray-Bans. Just a completely different aesthetic and feel. Different vibe.
Just took them on a stroll to get the mail and the lenses are quite clear. No aberrations or artifacts. Colors were nice, nothing felt flat.
Nobody around here has anything like it.
Now that I have an idea of how their frames fit I'll be able to choose a few more and find the ones that would be great for custom lenses. The Daim is a strong contender.

Just bought the GAST 'fen' - love the shape and the price was right. Have owned a lot of decent sunglasses (Oliver People, Moscot, old Ray Bans, Garrett Leight) in the past and these have a similar feel of quality. Cheers

a bit out of topic question but what do you think about sunglasses that are done for prescription glasses? most plastic frames are a bit crooked and i wonder if I did the right choice to have that pair (astigmatism) I think they make me a little dizzy ..and I think it's a good topic to talk about because I think that there must be more attension and where the centers of glasses are in astigmatism glasses...

Do all ascertain glasses lose gloss finish over time? Or is it just some?
I think the Gast (NOT) Common is THE frame to pick (which I have!). Because it's not easy to achieve hand-polished contours at this price point for the quality (and yes, they do feel better than, say, Moscot (in terms of how solid they feel and the quality/finish of the acetate), a frame that is deliberately sharp-edged works best. Same logic applies to the colour options - I think it looks best with a flat colour.
Which tint will work with them
I am confused which to pick one with grey tint and without tint?
@@bhuvandhanda9074 Do you mean with the (NOT) Common in eggshell (cream)? I'd say orange or red if you want something very bold; or you could go brown (perhaps with amber coating) to tone it down just a little.

Several of the gast frames looked so promising. Is there a general way, when you can’t try on a frame in person, to tell if a frame is going to fit your face. Like can a person take a ruler or seamstress measuring tape and take measurements of the head and translate to a minimum and maximum range of frame sizes. Knowing my current frame size and that it is a decent fit (would prefer a slightly longer temple and perhaps a little wider of a bridge) it would be nice to know the ranges of lens widths and frame widths that would work. Just thinking where glasses, for me, are an investment and it would be a shame if they didn’t fit. Style, one can own and make it their signature but if the frame doesn’t fit it doesn’t fit and then you are out money. I only ask because my optician, locally, doesn’t carry much higher quality frames because our demographic in my small city doesn’t call for the same type of luxury brands you guys do (that’s why I am enjoying the idea of you being able to sell to international clients)
The problem is you only get the measurement of the lens height and width, not the entire dimensions or the total width (although rarely you can find this) - therefore it takes an expert to know whether a frame will fit someone well or not.

Apologies if you have already addressed this problem...... I love oversized glasses but because of my moderate - 3 prescription I was advised that they would not look good on me due to the thickness of the lease at the outer edge. Is there a way around this?
-3.00 isn't particularly strong! I'd say you can have whatever frame you want... if you're worried about thickness, choose a chunky frame like we looked at in this video which will cover your lens thickness. I have a question about fit. For example: moscot lemtosh 49s feel GREAT on my face but look huge, yet the 46 feel a little tight but look just right! Basically I’m so conflicted about buying a pair of Matsuda m3023. I’ve tried both and the 52mm feels TOO tight but the lens look fine, but the 57mm feels fine but LOOK enormous around my eyes. 😞 do you think the Matsudas were MEANT to be worn big? Or just like the Lemtosh, do you think they look better slightly undersized?
I think you're exactly right. Some frames should be worn big, and others (like the Lemtosh for sure) should be worn a little small.
I have placed an order for a GAST MAE frame from the supplier in Milan, and it was conveyed that the anticipated delivery timeframe was one week. However, as two weeks have transpired without the items being received, I have been advised by the supplier to initiate a claim with the delivery company UPS. It is noteworthy to mention that the process of ordering from the European Union is becoming increasingly intricate.

Yes, definitely. I'd personally recommend Hoya Sensity Dark Green with the green Rikhard. (Sensity Dark is like a better Xtractive)
About the Daim sunglasses, the first Daim that you pick up is color caramel? Because there is no color brown from.thier website.

At their current price, one can buy an extra pair, file them down a bit to add some shape and customization and if you mess up, order another.

How would you rate Gast against other brands in a similar or slightly higher price bracket such as Cubitts? Would they rank higher? A Cubitts rep claimed to me last week that the acetate is the same in their frames as Cutlery & Gross 😮
Are all of the Gast frames 140mm width? From their website it seems like they are all medium large, but on your face they don't look that way, and I think most would fit a men's small decently well enough
I would say they are a pretty small fit, on the whole. There is variation within the collection. The 140mm is probably the temple length

My Italian made Ray-Ban New Wayfarers, my everyday progressives are made out of Nylon. Very light, in fact the most comfortable glasses I’ve ever owned🥸
If you're happy with RayBan, I'm happy for you. Just be careful of the finish peeling off the nylon frames

I used Leader Lens Cleaner. Comment edited - everything is fine with glasses. The cleaner is rubish.
I sent them warranty claim. Will see how it turns out.
I don't recommend leader lens cleaner. Use Zeiss lens wipes instead. Anyway, I've had my pair about 6 months now and no issues whatsoever. Also never found that issue on over 200 pairs sold. I'm sure they'll help you out with your warranty claim so don't stress
Gast certainly seems Great Glasses but the company customer service seems very poor. I live in Pakistan and wanted a shipment delivered in Dubai. Have dropped multiple emails for assistance……No Reply!!

I think there's one model which reminds me of a Ray Ban, the others are completely different. And significantly better quality than Ray Ban.
