Hello from Austria ! I have many different smokers. The conclusion is always the cook not the cooker. You have to adjust wood, temperature, humidity, rub, cook time and you find on all the smokers a perfect result. Nice videos Tommy ! Cheers from Austria !
Thanks for the tips! Cheers brother!
You are welcome !
That was and awesome comparison video and I must say I’m so happy how it turned out…thank you Tommy for all the hard work!!! 🍻
NP... lmk when you get those pecan pellets. cheers
Love to get me either of those pits! They both look like winners. Love me some of those Smokin' Pecan pellets too, such a clean and better smoke than other pellets out there. Good stuff brotha!
Definitely. Ive reached out to the company for more. Those are amazing!!! Such a sweet different type smoke.
think which one you like will come down to what your used to using fuel wise. i had the lone star pellet smoker and was very disappointed in the smoke flavor. no matter what brand of pellets i used, just could not get the smoke flavor i was looking for. would think ppl that are used to using charcoal will much rather prefer the gravity smoker. theres also a massive price difference between the 2 smokers.
Thanks so much! I needed to this comparison.
It certainly was a fun one!
Awesome comparison Tommy! Totally agree with you, the Lonestar edges out the Masterbuilt barely because of the pecans. This definitely was a good video and surprised with the results. Have an awesome weekend ahead! Cheers brother 🍻
Looking back, your right. I regular pellet wouldn't stand a chance against the MB... Those pecans are something else!
Great cook,it's like you're reading my mind I was searching RUclips for a comparison of these 2 pits. I have the masterbuilt 800 and I've been eyeing the Lonestar for a while, looks like the Lonestar will be my next pit beautiful looking ribs by the way great job.
Its hard to beat that LSG...
Love the channel. Great job.
Great comparison Tommy. I really thought the MB would put similar color on the ribs due to the charcoal and real wood, you proved me wrong. Thanks!
Thanks 👍 Next time more wood in the MB
The LSG pellet is a bucket list kind of grill to own.
It has to be the best pellet grill money can buy!
@@thegalleryBBQI've had mine since December 2022, IMHO the best pellet smoker on the market today . A buy once cry once type of grill
yoo tommy thx for the video man. I've been thinking about buying the XT and im glad you did this comparison. based on your results, do you think the rib tasted THAT much better to justify the price of the LSG? thanks man
Its apples and orenges. That LSG will last you a liftime and is a pellet grill. The MB wont last a lifetime but is wood/charcoal. Hope that helps.
Those pecan shell pellets are amazing, game changer, I mix them with post oak chips in 2 large square amazin tubes, put under meat grate, fan in pellet smoker keeps it burning for about 4 hours, put grate over them and meat on grate, run lumberjack competition blend for constant 225° smoking brisket, them pecan shell pellets and post oak chips lay out that blue smoke, comes out tasting like craft bbq from Texas top bbq places
Agreed. So good.
The rack off the Lone Star definitely had a beautiful mahogany color ... but the MB did what it was supposed to do, and they looked great as well ... thumbs up to both pits
I totally agree!
Have you ever tried adding pellets to the charcoal as I’ve heard some people have tried in charcoal smokers to get a stronger smoke profile?
Ive not.....
Why does the gravity cooker have problems with smoke? Seems you should be able to get more smoke than any other just because you can load that chimney. Not just this vid, any of them. Open that lid and it looks like it's turned off.
You defiently do not have to see the smoke to taste it. The Gravity is as close as you'll get to an offset. IMHO
Use 100 percent wood in the XT and I bet it wins.
Great video! Would be interesting to do this again but use the same wood in both pits!
I agree. I will start uping my wood in the MB...
Awesome video bro! They both looked fantastic!
Agreed... ZERO losers in this battle.
I’m excited for my lonestar pellet to get here in July. My 10 plus year gmg finally gave out and decided to splurge.
Damn... You are going to love it! If the Masterbuilt wasn't so hot i'd be cooking on thet LSG every video. Stay tuned.
Great honest review Tommy.
Thanks 👍
Tommy, could you put pecan shells in to the masterbuild along with lump charcoal and get a great smoke with the shells added? Have you done prime-rib with the rotisserie on the Masterbuild?
You can and I will soon.
The both of them look so delicious and tasty. I taught that the Masterbuild would win because of using real chunks of wood. But I guess the pecan pellets helped the Lone Star Grillz. Great job Tommy. Have a fantastic day and CHEERS.
Hey Tommy, if you had to make 1 purchase, which pellet or gravity fed grill would it be and why, please consider the Lone Star is twice as much as the XT
I was pretty surpriced. That said. Those pellets are a different kind of flavor that turns any pellet grill into a smoke machine! Cheers
I like that LSG color my man! Good video!
Heck yeah... Cheers
Use lone star grillz post oak chips mixed with the pecan shell pellets and see how you like that mix for smoke flavor on your LSG pellet smoker
ive got those wood chips in the garage. Coming soon.
Interesting results! Wonder how the XT would compare if you ran a full wood split with charcoal surrounding
As I get to know the XT ill start adding more and more wood.
Yep! I ran wood only on my XT yesterday. Could do about an hour and 20 running on a full split no charcoal at 275. Clean thin blue the whole time. Going to do a run today with full split surrounded by charcoal on some ribs.
@@eclipxe Keep me posted if anything happens. gallerybbq@gmail.com
This is the way!
That’s what I wondered also. I never have problems with smoke on my MBG. But I run splits the full length of the hopper.
I'm sure both were amazing and I typically like charcoal grilling better but I love the Smokin Pecan pellets!! 😎🔥🍻
Heck yeah.
Liked the cook Tommy! And if any of you peeps haven't tried Wildfork ribs your missing out💥
I agree........ I keep pushing that coupon(the channel receives nothing)BTW..... because it's such a good deal.
and that's why I have the LSG. You gotta run a cook with the wood chips they have at a 50/50 mix.
Ive heard. Those are the chips that LSG sells??
@@thegalleryBBQ yep the ones they sell. I mix them with my Lumberjack pellets.
Not really a fair comparison. To compare you need to use the exact same woods. I’ll bet if you used cherry pellets in the Lone Star, the Masterbuilt would have won.
Alright Tommy I joined the club I bought a 560 for a pretty good deal$350 at bjs with a cover
Looking forward to making some of your recipes
Your gonna love it. Any questions gallerybbq@gmail.com
Not the first man that I heard confess up and say those lone star grillz pellet smokers are the closest to putting on smoke as you can get to a offset
its bad azz for sure-
Nice review for sure. I was rooting for the MB because I've got the MB800, and of course everyone wants what they have to win a competition, but sometimes we have to concede when something else does better. My only suggestion would be to use the same type of wood in both smokers. In the MB you used cherry wood, but in the Lone Star you used pecan pellets. That difference may have affected the color or taste.
Of course and good points. Im still learning the MB and have used way more wood at times in my older 1050/800. Ill keep experimenting! That said,. The MB is still the pit of the year. IMHO
Do you ever cook with the Masterbuilt in the rain? I also see you use 2 Masterbuilt fire starters does that work better because 1 for me doesn't work well
Never in the rain...Also, I did 1 once and it was very slow going... Two seems to work well.
@@thegalleryBBQokay thanks i will try using 2.
Was LSG really better, or just the fuel was better?
Good question... I know those pecan pellets kich azz and do add more flavor then a regular pellet.
A great looking cook. The ribs sure look awesome. Cheers, Tommy! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Both awesome ribs!
I always use more wood than you do and I put it in the hopper. Interesting that the pellet grills are catching up in the smoke flavor department though.
My next go round ill load the XT up... Im still timid because it's new! Cheers and stay tuned.
Wow a pellet grill gets the edge over a gravity! Never thought I'd see the day
It was what it was... That said. A few viewers made some good points.
The lone Starz grill is not your normal pellet grill.
@@ismaelvasquez5485 You are correct. I was just talking to someone last night and mentioned how it probably would have been different with a different pellet grill.
Tommy my guy.....well I guess it all boils down to what flavor profile you're feeling for ...but from the start I knew the LoneStar was going to get the edge ..let's face its hard to beat the LoneStar from most of the reviews I've seen. Ciao 🍻
Yah... its pretty bad azz...
Here we go
yesyes!
Not trying to be a keyboard warrior or anything, truly an honest question. I've noticed you typically use the second rack on your Masterbuilt (whether it's the new XT or 1050/800) when you're doing a low and slow smoke/cook. Is there a reason why you don't use something like a baking sheet to place under your protein on the main grate? Just speaking from my own experience, placing a cheap $10 baking sheet (or $2 disposable tin) under the protein provides better indirect heat, and it also catches all of the drippings, which makes for an easier clean up. Would like to know your thoughts in either a comment or perhaps even a video. Thanks for your continued feedback and content!
Are you saying to place the protein in something on the main grate?? Just wanna understand before i answer.
@@thegalleryBBQ I’m saying / asking why don’t you place a baking sheet on the main grate, while the protein is on the 2nd rack grate. That way it’s super easy clean up (no lifting out the grates or grease tray), plus it has the added benefit of blocking direct heat from the manifold since the baking sheet is on the main grate.
Love the M&K shirt!
My girls..... I love them both!
Do you smoke with pair wood
I have not....
Thanks
Both rack of ribs look excellent, I wouldn’t turn either one of them away if they were put in front of me, and I prefer my ribs with no sauce on them!
these were so good.
Should of went pecan in the gravity. Not a fair match. Lol smoken pecan pellets are no joke. Only pellet that gives a smoke flavor.
You didn't even hear your shout out!!
@@thegalleryBBQ I heard it lol
I need to get me some of the Smoking Pecan!
Grab some. You'll love them.
Definitely think the masterbuilt needed more wood
I get that same feeling.. Because the pit is still new to me i'm a bit timid... Ill know start running it like my 1050.
When I first started using my Masterbuilt 560, I wasn't getting enough smoke flavor until I figured out I wasn't using enough wood.
It's also twice the price. The lone star that is realized that
Of course..... Thanks for watching!
YIPEE LSG FOR THE WIN , I LOVE MINE PAIRED WITH THE PECAN PELLETS ALSO GREAT COOK TOMMY
It is what it is... that said, i may have been a tad timid with the MB wood chunks. Have you ever tried those pecan pellets??
@@thegalleryBBQ YES I USE THEM ALL THE TIME THEY WORK GREAT
@@thegalleryBBQ YES I USE THEM IN MY LSG ALL THE TIME
Need to wear a NASCAR type driver’s suit to display all brand logos from all the freebies you get
Maybe if you work hard enough you'll also get some good freebies. Until then, free burgers will have to do!!
Awesome video Tommy!
I wonder if using pecan shells instead of the cherry wood in the Masterbuilt would have changed the results?
Cheers
That will happen down the road.
I have a Lonestar pellet, it really does a great job. My poor Assassins gravity pit has been lonely since it arrived.
It's top of the line for sure-. Paired up with those Pecan Pellets took it next level. forgetaboutit!
I have been trying to get into the Facebook group but it hasn't been approved. Just got my 1050 delivered
which one....
@@thegalleryBBQ masterbuilt gravity series unite
@@ryanreed385 Approved;)..
Should I get a master built 560?
If thats what you could afford, get it!
Cherry vs Pecan, go to run them both on pecan to make it fair
You maybe right!
They both look great! Why did you not use the same wood for both pits? That would be a more equal comparison.
Agreed. Since the MB is still knew to me im a bit timid on adding to much wood. That'll start changing moving forward.
Is this the cook on Monday. I should told me I would stopped by nom nom. Are those the never ever wildfork ribs
lol..... You know im always cooking!
but the xt is cheaper... and then the others are cheaper than the xt.... round and round we go haha
HAHA.. Something is always cheaper!
Ya, but are those ribs $2000 better?
Well since I paid zero for it all it's all relative to me. That's why in the video i did stress that everything used was provided to the show. No worries, im still learning the XT and will be adding way more wood next cook. Cheers
@@thegalleryBBQ I was asking a sincere question for those of us who do have to buy our equipment.
@@kerplunk38880 Of course. I hope what i answered you didn't take the wrong way. It's just an honest answer.... No rib is 2k better. Matter of fact, I can take a 200$$ kettle and prolly do the same.... Cheers.
Is it the pellets that made the difference 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Prolly... Those pellets totally rock! Especially if you like sweet smoky smoke!
I will go with Molly's choice. No skin in the game. 😀

@@wildmanwv Gotcha, thanks man. Any questions. LMK
It is pretty sad that some silly pecan shells beat out the masterbuilt XT using real Cherry 🍒 wood 🪵 Maybe you needed less charcoal and more wood 🪵 splits…???
My man.......
