One thing that I'm going to do just before I start to pour the dry concrete mix into the forms...
I'm going to soak down the gravel and soil under the gravel we'll so it will help soak into the bottom of the concrete. If it's completely dry under the dry concrete mix, it will be pulling the moisture out of the bottom of your concrete mix after it finally soaks down that far. I may be wrong, but I feel it will help get a more evenly moistened pour, top to bottom.

looks good-- it's a whole lotta work. I would have probably used the lower course of blocks from the former raised garden as part of the base under the future slab, since everything under those blocks is naturally settled more compact than you'd be able to get it with a hand tamper after digging all that stuff out like you did. And, in the middle where all that rubble was, I'd probably have added some gravel to it instead of removing all that stuff, as well. Assuming you're going to be using rebar anyway, this isn't going to be a structural slab holding up a lot of weight, that underslab area isn't rocket science and doesn't have to be pretty. You have to use a gas tamper pretty extensively to achieve what settles/compacts naturally over a few years. However, that's me. Nothing wrong with you doing it "right," I just would find that to be overkill. I am, however, reasonable and open to being convinced otherwise. Thanks

Interesting and useful content - I'd like to watch more, but PLEASE buy and use a tripod rather than waving the camera around constantly!

Got some new gear, learning how to use it all now so I can make better videos. Thank you!
