I love it that now there are gaming monitors that aren't horridly ugly with all the useless colourful plastic props, screaming "GAMERZZZ", but instead something that actually fit a normal home.
Unfortunately its actually only LG doing this. Look at the rog or aorus monitors, they still look gaudy as hell.
As time went on, people got over the RGB hype and figured that proper functioning equipment is way more important than showing off with flashy colors. Companies like Razer and Logitech are already moving away from RGB equipment.
I would consider that a minimum requirement, nothing to celebrate.
I like minimalistic designs and stay away from all the gamer stuff. Especially since all of it is plastic and thus, inevitably, looks cheap. Some plastics can look pretty good, true, but I'd really like aluminium more. Simple shapes endure, too. Like designs from Apple, starting from early 2010s. They do not look like they're from early 2010s, they still look good even now. Gamer stuff? That will eventually grow outdated, just like all-glass cases already have.
@@triliner254 not really, the Zowie monitors look great, so do the Viewsonic ones.
Can we just talk about how sexy this monitor looks like look at the bezels and no ugly branding at the bottom
Ngl, all the OLED monitors looks superior to non-OLED monitors.
From the front it doesn't look much different from other LG OLEDs or Asus OLEDs etc.
@@MrKapucyn19
But QD OLEDs tend to look worse than WOLEDs because WOLEDs don't have the ugly branding and instead only a clean front.
QD OLED on the other hand often uses unnecessary branding on the chin like with the current 360hz QD OLEDs from MSI and Alienware
I just wish it didn’t have that light on the back
Yeah but matte?... in 2024? No way I´m paying this amount of money for a Oled MATTE display, just NO WAY :D
that’s one thing LG definitely does right
I thought it was neat until you said $1400.
😂😂😂
it dropped hella in price now thank god
there’s now also a white version with a much cheaper speaker (still passable just not the one that built into the screen) for 999 called the 32GS95UV; still ridiculous but when you’re paying for a 4k Oled monitor you’re gonna be giving up an arm and leg, still has dual mode too!
@@lucasmorais6182 Can you expand on the cheaper speaker aspect? They are both advertising the same thing - Pixel Sound. Are the speakers on the white one really worse?
@@lucasmorais6182where I live that model is not white?
It's nuts how 240hz isn't "high end" anymore. I bought an Odyssey G7 27" thinking I was getting a beast of a monitor (which I guess it still is) and these insane 360hz+ monitors come out
It will end with 1000hz monitors maybe
It's still high end, don't be fooled by this marketing, they just want you to buy more of these increasingly expensive monitors.
don’t be fooled by this marketing, I ordered both the aw3225 240hz oled and 360hz aw2725df, and BOTH of them aren’t really faster than my old g7, and I am top250 in warzone and finally kept the aw32 because 240hz+oled combination is just insanely fast, like a 360 IPS, everything higher than this is marketing gimmick at its finest
@@thehondaboiThats exactly what they said when 240hz came out when most people used 144hz. Sure its marketing but once you get higher refresh with oled response times its very noticeably smoother and better if you can afford it.
Don't be fooled by the marketing

@@SevenHell398 for me I'm about to have mine after 1 month of gaming everyday and I'm at 163 hours of use with this monitor. I take good care to not let static image on the screen and there's no burn-in that I'm aware of atm. I use Wallpaper Engine (only on the LG 32GS95UE) to keep the pixels going non-stop and if I'm going on the web I use one of my two LG VA monitors that I have on each side of my main OLED monitor to be sure there's no problem with static images (except if I watch content on RUclips).
I didn't know I was waiting for this! This is literally my dream monitor, can't wait for it to come out!
I have been waiting for this vid as you were to be the deciding factor on if I keep my preorder. So stoked for this to arrive!
im keen for the 1440p 480 tbh
THOUGH, the only reason is im on an LG c2 right now and thought 1080p ona 32 would look crap but seems its not too bad, and i have no idea if games at 1440p actually can get to 480hz lmao

why not just use 1440p 360hz, you're not going to notice a difference past 240hz bro.
@@FJaypewpew I really hope the nvidia gtc presentation means something and we get GPUs with 4x performance and less power consumption, that would be absolutely crazy, then I wouldn't even mind the current gpu prices
I like both single player games with breathtaking scenarios and competitive shooters. At this moment it is still too early to play competitive games in 4K and LG has unveiled an all in one solution that could solve the problem of those who, like me, find themselves in the middle ground, torn between the choice of image quality of 4K and the fluidity of Full HD at a high refresh rate. Great review.
Why does this read like a bot response
I tend to agree, but I'm also used to playing competitive games on a 27" 1440p monitor. I don't love the idea of dropping resolution and PPI even though I really want an OLED monitor with high refresh rate.
DLSS is good enough that I'd rather use that to get 4K resolution than this solution, but bandwidth starts becoming an issue at high refresh rates
Lol I was thinking the same thing. I'm like hmm is this an LG rep?@@JagsP95
@@JagsP95Doesn't matter, i fully agree with this. I've been sitting on a 1440p 240Hz monitor and haven't felt like upgrading to OLED yet because i don't know whether i want low res with high refresh for Overwatch or 4K at lower refresh for everything else. If i wasn't obsessed with playing Overwatch competitively i would've switched to 4K OLED a while ago
@@thedofflin Honestly the issue for me is that the refresh rates are just too high. Barely any game is going to push 240 frames at 4k even with a 4090, and having tried the 540Hz PG248QP at my friends house, I couldn't tell the difference between it and my 360Hz monitor..
Hopefully LG or someone releases a middle ground 120Hz 4k & 360Hz 1080p, not being able to utilize the full refresh rate on a monitor would just be too frustrating for me and considering the hardware to run at those frames won't be out for another year at least, it just seems like a novelty feature that you can point your finger at saying that you've got it.
LG missed a trick by not letting the 24" mode be the full ~1620p resolution. HDMI 2.1 can handle that resolution at 480hz with DSC.
maybe the panel is not fast enough for that resolution we can't know for sure
@@emrexis Yeah, it probably would have taken a bit of extra work on their part to get it working, but between the already crazy 4K 240hz mode, the dual mode toggle, and the cropping feature, it seemed like they got 90% of the way there and then stopped. This monitor still seems good, but it could've been insane with this feature.
It could do 1080p without any scaling at 16inch which puts it right in crt territory with 140ppi and you just bring it real close like we use to. That would be my preference
annoying it forces 1440 or 1080, why can’t it be something like 1820p 16:9 27in
I am gonna be trying to set a custom resolution to get 480hz running on other resolutions like say 1440p or maybe 360hz @ 1440p and test to make sure no frames are skipped

480Hz is absolutely pointless lol.
I have this below a 42” LG C2 oled for video editing and color grading with the bonus of having an incredible gaming setup. Built in color calibration is really nice, using my i1 display pro makes this monitor very accurate just make sure you go into advanced settings and use the max number of patches. Matte display is NOT an issue on this monitor people saying so don’t own it and aren’t using it next to a glossy screen. The pixel layout is so much better for text, it’s really a relief to not have color fringing around text! All around love this monitor, I think it’s the best for my needs and I would 100% buy it again!
Those OLED monitors are becoming more and more attractive.
The only issues for me would be:
- For WOLED monitors: No glossy finish or similar like gorilla glass, colors are less vibrant than QD-OLED.
- For QD-OLED monitors: Magenta tint when there is light in front of the monitor, text clarity isn't as good as WOLED with a 1440p resolution.
- For both technologies: We still need better brightness especially for 10% and 100% windows but we are slowly getting there.
WOLED non glossy is still EXTREMELY VIBRANT
If this thing does BFI at its max refresh rates like the C1 does it’s basically my dream monitor
Looks sick! I preordered on day 1 from LG. Hoping to see it soon!
The only benefit of this model vs. current Q/W Oleds are 480hz refresh rate at 1080p on a 32 inch monitor. To me, this just doesnt make any sense
1. Size 32inch way to big for esports regardless of putting it way back.
2. 480 hz benefit is really nice but UFO (or his version) image he shows looks identical to 360hz 1440p OLEDs and not better
3. You can’t get the 480hz benefit (as he shows) in cropped modes (27 or 24 inch) at 1080 to make the picture smaller on panel. So useless function. Likely input lag will also increase.
4. Most people moved to 1440p vs 1080p so going back-at least for me personally- is not an option
So I am not sure this differentiation is any value to anyone who is looking for a high refresh rate esport functionality.
Great video, can't wait for these type of screens to come out, 4K HDR gaming at 240hz going to be so nice for singleplayer and then 1080p 480hz for CS2 etc.
I'm a big LG fan now.. Since buying our first 55" OLED TV in 2016, every new TV and monitor has been LG. I'm typing this comment on my 42" LG monitor, which is simply beautiful. Keep up the great content!
Ok now this is getting crazy, high fps plus oled is crazy. Amazing high quality video.
Production quality is E L I T E ! Loving the content :)
Subpixel layout has been the #1 reason for me to not go OLED, as staring at text while web browsing etc is something i spend much larger % of my time than i do gaming. Still a bit paranoid about burn-in, as i do have my monitor on for 16h/day, and i would like to be able to keep one monitor for at least 5 years before having to toss it.
If you mostly use it in SDR mode during desktop use I think you'll be fine for many years. This monitor tops out at 1300nits during HDR I think, so in comparison the ~260 nits max in SDR means the heat dissipation and individual pixels aren't pushed even near their limit and thus have a huge headroom before any burn-in might happen.
No monitor will last 5 years without some sort of degradation at those type of hours, especiallly not OLED. Personally the only reason I'd go OLED would be because of good burn-in warranty because otherwise their long-term price may easily be 2x, if not more, their initial price because burn-in is a "when" not "if".
Like, the new gen OLEDs are in ~1k$ price range and that sounds great compared to higher end IPSs, but if you can't get a guaranteed burn-in coverage and may have to get a new one after potentially 2 years, it would mean their ACTUAL price is 2k$ compared to 1k$ LCD that would last you 4 years. If you have the money OLED is almost strictly superior to LCDs, but you really have to take the burn-in calculation into account for your budget.
Cheapest OLED is 650 dollar without burnin warranty@@TheCabIe
16hr? How is that possible?! I feel like OLED is perfect for me as I use a duel monitor setup and mostly use my IPS for web browsing, RUclips, ect. I’ll be lucky if I put 16 a week on my oled. Though its usage comes in bursts, like when a new game comes out. Dragon dogma 2 is easily gonna get me to use it. :D
OLED makes older games pop and look good, so I find it very satisfying for gaming and I enjoy it for movies too.
@@TheCabIe Yes I've even seen IPS panels get yellowing and bad uniformity after extremely heavy use (not by myself though lol). The argument could also be made that while these OLEDs potentially have a shorter lifespan, you're guaranteed to have superior image quality for all the time before that.
It's quite interesting when you think about it, people are so afraid of the slim potential of OLED burn-in that they're buying IPS monitors that already have 'degraded' visual quality to start with (darkness glow, backlight bleed, uniformity issues etc). Instead of buying an OLED that literally has perfect image quality with the potential risk of issues after many years. An OLED with a tiny bit of burn-in will still have better image quality during gaming than any IPS, if the burn-in is limited to the edges where the UI is.
I love how this monitor doesn't have the V shaped stand. So many gaming monitors nowadays have it and not only do they take up more space on the desk, I also prefer the look of this monitor's stand compared to the V shaped ones.
Definitely my dream monitor here. I'll be picking it up as soon as I can!
would love a 32 inch oled 5k/1440p switch display, if this ever comes out i am sold ! (as goncaloduarte mentionned, 4k/1440p would not be possible).
same!
It would need to be 5K/1440p
This monitor does 1440p at 240hz
I just prefer dedicated minitors. There'd be some scarifice in dual mode configurations.
This is perfect for all gaming uses. I currently use a 144hz 4K monitor for single player games. Then switch to my 360hz PQN for apex or competitive shooters.
The 4K mode to me isn’t only a benefit for desktop work. Just being able to get the best experience with all game genres makes this exactly what I’ve always wanted in one monitor.
thanks for an excellent video Sir.

Super clean looking amazing, just wish it wasn't a million dollars.
How do you feel about the anti-glare coating vs competition?
Have a sub my dude that is an amazingly well put together video, well done.
You can still see text fringing, it's just now not on the horizontal axis, it's on the vertical axis. Of course maybe in real life, it's better than the previous layout, but from the video there's clear blue text fringing on the "t" in the word 'Desktop' on the OLED vs the IPS panel.
i would pre order this thing right now except for the fact that it doesn’t have usb c power delivery.
how can you release a monitor in 2024 without usb c is beyond me. this is a must for people intending on using it for its true purpose, switching between work and play.

Plus, i never expect to go over 300fps in tripple A titles (which i played) the max i can get from my pc is 200fps on fhd. So 240fps vs 360hz means not too much as a deal breaker. “Prefer matt finish because it handles glare better.” It’s a gaming monitor, mostly used in an environment the user controls. Just move the damn panel, or adjust the curtains/blinds. Matt coatings degrade the final output.

This is the dream package for me if it wasn't for the difference in price point per region. The PG32UCDM retails for 1300$ in the US which I'm willing to shill out. But that same exact monitor costs 1800€ in EU. Taking currency conversion into account, that's a 600€+ difference for the exact same monitor!
Awesome video! How does the monitor do in real-world brightness testing compared to the 32" QD-OLEDs? We know it can do brighter white but less saturated colors, so how does that pan out in real-world scenarios?
Also how is the panel coating? Does its graininess detract from the 4K fidelity?
Finally, how well does it preserve blacks in various lighting conditions (again compared to QD-OLED)?

Exactly, dp 2+, glossy coating, less than 1k price. Perfect monitor 😊
When you talk about colour fringing on text, it seems like there is some misunderstanding of why that might occur. At 5:08 it's a bit dissonant that your narration says that there is no fringing visible when the photo at the same time clearly shows fringing. But anyway, you might be making fringing worse just by having incorrect subpixel rendering set up for this monitor's subpixel layout -- the default Windows cleartype settings are definitely just assuming a three uniform RGB subpixels (and, beside the point, need to be tuned to every specific monitor to not look worse than just greyscale AA...). I think a much better showcase of how much fringing there is would be to compare two bits of text with *greyscale* anti-aliasing, which will probably look better anyway on a display with such dense pixels, rather than subpixel rendering that's possibly fighting against the subpixel layout.
Since this new monitor actually has a white/grey subpixel, the ideal subpixel rendering for black-on-white (or vice versa) text, is probably quite close to greyscale anti-aliasing with a relatively small adjustment of the other subpixels.
Unrelated to this video, but any chance we might get access to the files for the air duct prints for the H5 flow?
Matte coating…just why…i chose the asus model for 2 reasons: glossy and qd oled (better color pop in bright colours).
I use it for warzone gaming (no matter the hardware this game cant be pushed far beyond 200fps consistently) and professional photo editing. And especially for photo editing i would NEVER go back to a matte coating… i can control the light in my room so i guess thats why, but the clarity IS superior!

@@shauryajain9529 it’s hard to believe a matte coating which essentially diffuses the image and creates a “grainy look” is superior. From a competitive point of view (which is what Optimum usually reviews from) yes matte is more consistent, but in a light controlled environment I’m sure the semi-glossy is superior.
This is why we need a direct comparison between the two, just to discuss coatings.

Definitely the OLED monitor I have been dreaming about, best of both worlds.
Oh my god. I always wanted a lower resolution OLED, this is perfect since many movies still only released in 1080p
How is it with productivity? Like text clarity? Graphic design / photoediting?
I'm certainly hoping this eventually gets offered on some different panel sizes. For my new setup I'm working on, my optimal size based on my measurements would be 41-43" panel for 16:9. My options there are rather limited.
Man so the screen finish is matte but you like it. I hear so many others on different channels that say the opposite (speaking about matte oleds in general). Now im stuck.
im a tech and ow nerd so this channels pretty cool
This monitor is for high end PCs and I feel most people get high end PCs to get out of 1080p gaming, and at 32 inches, 1080p would be meh to me. I would much rather have 1440p 480hz and 4k 240hz. To reach 480 fps it's got to be an untaxing Esport game, and high end PCs can hit 480 fps at 1440p as well as 1080p.
I understand that 4k panel, the pixels are so small that 4 of them fit perfectly into a designated spot for 1080p Pixel. But I got a high end pc because 1440p and 4k look so much better than 1080p, so I don't want to play at 1080p, especially at 32 inches.
I agree, i just got the 4k 240hz pg32ucdm. I cant see myself going down to 1080p, but i prob will pick up a 1440p 480hz for FPS games in the future
@@Peetskeet I feel you. I got the Asus 1440p 240hz OLED monitor and I really like it. I'm definitely interested in the MSI 360hz OLED and I don't think I play enough games that I can hit 480hz in, so I think I'm not that interested in 480hz, especially since OLED has the same perfect response time no matter the Hz of the monitor.
I definitely would be interested in a 4k 240hz and 1440p 480/360hz dual monitor. 4k for story games and web browsing/work, and 1440p 360hz/480hz for competitive fps games.
I'm basically doing that with 2 seperate monitors right now, 4k 60hz for work/web browsing, and 1440p 240hz gaming monitor for gaming. Being able to consolidate that to 1 monitor would be nice and then I can mount a cheap ultra wide monitor above for content watching while I game or something, freeing up a ton of space to my left and right on my desk
i have this Monitor for my PS5 Pro and holy smokes... the image quality, the picture quality, the graphics, the sharpness, the colors and absolutely everything is incredible. i cannot say this enough. This monitor is an absolute beast, i mainly care about the image quality and picture 4K that's why i got it plus OLED my gosh the Blacks on this thing is amazingly dark inky i love it!!! I'm Coming from Sony inzone M9 4K ips 27" monitor and it was an awesome monitor but this right here is different Game Changer, also the "matte coating on the display is not grainy at all or very mattey, its more like matte and glossy put together in one, it really is nice to look at and the most amazing part of all of this, it went on sale for $400 off so i paid $999.99 plus tax instead of retail price of $1399.99 plus tax, i got it at Best Buy
I am building up me multiple setups anyway.
If something brakes i hop on to my other projects.
Sometimes it can take weeks or month till you get replacement component, is why i prefer multiple setups.
Maxed gaming pc, medium pc, multimedia pc, edittor pc + laptop.
And i even try have couple basic components available on my personal shelf.
Your videos are awesome ! congratz bro, keep going like that
Great review, thank you for all the info in this video. 5/5!
I love the look of the tube light that’s standing behind …. Which tube is this? Awesome review on the monitor and can’t wait to get on when I renovate my new home.
At the beginning of the year I persuaded myself to buy one of the AW QD OLEDs. But after seeing this video, I decided to hold off for a few months and wait for better competitors coming. Still crying over my pre-ordered Dough 4K 144Hz that will never be delivered. Early adopters seems to lose at this moment.
Why don't you have a million subscribers already
Still too spoiled by my LG C2, 42" 4k OLED @120 Hz. The size is perfection, glossy, the colors, HDR, everything is immaculate, and 120hz is a perfect happy medium with no noticeable competitive performance decrease in games. Will wait until they come out with an OLED at 240hz or so at 40+ inches. Great too see they're heading that direction quickly with PC features! Awesome review.
Mine is on the way 😍 playing it with my 2 week Old new pc with a rtx4090 First time buying a pc 😍😍😍😍😍
I’ll take the MSI model for $450 less thank you very much. I also play in a darker room, so the QD-OLED will be more richly black and dark colors will pop more.
Aside from impressive specs, I really love the overall aesthetic of it. The chin bar is thin, no any visible branding, no "gaming" nonsense(excluding a little bit at the back), just plain black screen with slim frame. I wish all monitor was built like this.
Shame about the cropped modes. I’ll go for a 42” c4 next year myself.
Also, we need a direct comparison with the asus qd oled. Would love to see why he thinks the woled monitor is superior.
Wasn't this supposed to have sound coming directly from the screen etc?
Would have loved to see / hear that in action 🤷♂
I thought QD OLED is a better HDR hardware than WOLED due to the color gamut and brighter pure color?
I wish I waited to get this. I bought the LG27 inch oled. I do love the monitor but this size resolution and all the features is awesome.
very interesting with the sub pixel layer. Since I also do a lot of reading this has always been something that kept me away from OLED as a monitor
I'm absolutely going to get one of the 240hz oled monitors. I probably won't get this 480hz dual mode, I really don't see myself using the 1080 mode at all, but the oled and high refresh rate upgrade from my current 4k monitor is going to make an enormous difference.
My RX570 is scared for its live after I watched this vib, also imo you are so underrated.. love the channel and the vibes keep it up!!
I would pay good money for a modern custom-built widescreen CRT. Zero blur or ghosting at only 85-100hz refresh rate was such a treat.
Thanks for a good review of this mon. I would like to try 32".
I know you're into competitive gaming, so it's probably not even on your radar BUT because you do video editing, I'd love to hear your thoughts and review on the new Dell U4025QW! I plan to upgrade to it from my AW3821DW but just waiting for the right moment (aka when I can talk myself into buying a $2k monitor I don't REALLY need lol)
Looking forward to getting this as a work/play monitor for my PC and PS5.
