Notice how Jerry is interested about the list. It is because he wants to use some of it in his stand up routine. See how he gets his material? Brilliant
The original premise of the show was explaining where Jerry's jokes came from. You would watch the episode and at the end see the jokes he picked up during the episode used in the outro stand-up routine.

Ahmed Context is everything, Ahmed. We watching the clip have the advantage of having seen the whole episode. It's about obsession. Obsessive devotion and commitment is the key to all the rest -- the stuff you're thinking about.
In what manner did it "work"? You ended a relationship for no good reason if you only did it because you thought the other person might do it first. As with George here. So you beat them to it. Grats. You do realise that the point of this sketch isn't to support pre-emptive breakups because it is silly to assume the worst. You'd only be creating the conditions that make a breakup inevitable. You talked yourself into it and now you're merely trying to retroactively justify it. If you feel you need to breakup with someone, do so. If you don't then don't. Don't create solutions to problems that don't exist. It's just too much work! Enjoy each other until it is not the case and move on. Trust me, that other person will survive your savage rebuff.

@@AnnaLVajda You say that he poisoned his fiance, like he meant to do it, and we all know, that her death was an accident.
