  • Module 1 of the Networking Fundamentals course will illustrate the core of networking: How data moves through the Internet. The foundation of that is understanding the OSI model.
But this isn't about mere memorization, instead we are going to look at the underlying goals of each layer of the OSI model, and how it contributes to the over all goal of networking: Moving data between hosts.
This lesson is a free lesson from my new course on Networking Fundamentals. The first module of this course is meant to teach you everything you need to know to understand how packets move through a network. All the lessons for the first module will be released for free here on RUclips:

*Full Course Status: Wait and See.*
Hopefully you've come to realize that I put _a lot_ of effort into the content I create. I'm not a course creator that will simply turn on the screen recording and ramble, then call that teaching. I meticulously plan _every_ module and lesson to _maximize the learning and value_ for the student.
To that end, it takes me a while to put together courses. If I'm going to dedicate the time, resources, and energy to putting this full course together, I need to know that there is enough interest in the full course. I'm rating that by how wide a reach this series achieves.
*If you are interested in seeing the full course developed, then the best way to bring that to fruition is to spread the word about this content* . By itself it already conveys _a lot_ of value. So sharing even just the 7 lessons (13 videos) in this series will surely help whoever you share it with.
Plus ... many online communities would greatly benefit from these videos. Think of all the Internet points you could acquire if you shared this series (karma, likes, follows, etc.) 😉

I took a Cisco Networking Academy and received my CCNA last year but never understood networking through that course. The way you explain the information around all of these networking concepts is so much better. I knew what ports were but never knew the why/how behind them. You're explanation just drove that home for me. Thank you for this content. Easy to understand.

Wish we had Video 30+ years back...
While doing Polytechnic (3rd year in 1989) in India, I have read Computer Networks written by Author Tanenbaum. I think it was pre-www. I spent many many hours and tried hard to picturize OSI model in mind and understand.
Later while doing my Engineering (after 3 years) I had same Network subject with more chapters (around 1993) and still could not visualize how the OSI layer works.. Same story while doing executive course. I have to go thru same subject again.
Wish this video was then during my college days... I am not network engineer but I was always curious How really this works.. And this video is blessing to me, as it solidified my networking visualization. Million thanks.

One of the best instructors out there! I like the original OSI model over the later model, even if some of the higher layer distinctions are redundant now, because I think it does a better job of conceptually clarifying what is going on in a more segmented way. I hope your later videos pick apart the distinctions of the top layers.

I'm so grateful to you. Your lessons are very easy to understand due to the way you present and explain them. I am currently taking a course on Computer Networks at the university and I understood practically nothing and did not see the connection between the topics, since they load you with a huge flow of information and everything is written in a complex way and it isn't shown how these topics are related to each other. It's like they're giving you puzzle pieces without telling you what picture you're supposed to complete at the end. And you don’t understand what to do with this mountain of puzzle pieces. Thanks to your videos, all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.

Thank you so much for such a simplified explanation. I am not a network guy, but need to use it from time to time and have been going though tons of articiles and tutorials. No one explained it in such a wonderful way. People always take some funny example to attract, but you have explained it a very practical way. Thank You for that!
