Hi Misha! Thank you for your incredible Super Thanks donation! Your generosity is not only helping me, but it's also playing a significant role in creating more high-quality training content that's accessible to everyone. Your support is making a difference for the entire community. Thank you!
Out of necessity in this world we live in full of computers, I've been trying to wrap my head around computer networking, watching any and all videos I can (whenever time permits), and yours has been the easiest to understand and most organized. Thank you!
Just like any popular web series, I have been binge watching your videos since yesterday. Thanks to RUclips algorithm that I landed on your channel and immediately subscribed. The way you present the hitherto complex topics in such a lucid and comprehensible manner is mind boggling !! I mean in last 24 hours itself, just by binge watching your videos, my knowledge on networking fundamentals and the OSI model has shot up by multiple notches. It's incredible !! Not a single tutor in my career's last 10 years had explained the concepts in such an eloquent manner (that too free). Please accept my GRAND SALUTE and continue to do the awesome work !! 😇
My good sir I’m getting into cybersecurity w the google certificate and everyone says having a strong foundation of networking is key and will set you apart. These videos are 10/10 informative and very easy to follow. Your hard work is THOROUGHLY appreciated!
I can't thank you enough. I am taking a Google IT Support Certification Course; unfortunately, the material they provide is almost useless compared to how you explain these concepts. Thank you again for all your hard work.
I remember reading a quote that said "The true mark of an intelligent person is how they explain stuff." and hearing the different systems of our body analogy did that for me. It explained the physicality of networking layers so nicely for me. You are doing great work, sir!
I am preparing for the CCNA. I can finally move forward with understanding. This is the best explanation of the TCP/IP, OSI Model I've come across. Some things now finally make sense. I excited about the rest of your videos. I feel confident now about the course.

man, you saved me from terrible teachers on my college , you don't know how much i appreciate you, thanks for your service i will join your classes i go to college get the certificate but i learn from you.
You are the best at explaining things.Clear thoughts, clear videos. You are indeed specified to explain things because 1) you understand them and 2) you can PASS this knowledge. You have created a GEM channel!!
This is one of the coolest, simplest and logical explanation of how OSI works. There are tones and tones of videos on YT but unfortunately majority stuff is just "theory and conceptual" level. This video on the other hand explains everything practically and the way it should be. Great work.
What does OSI mean? You’re a GREAT instructor! Truly. If there’s one thing you could improve upon is making sure you ALWAYS introduce an acronym only after you have spoken it’s full form, and the gradually shift in your speech to the use of the acronym alone, thus teaching the acronym as you’re teaching your subject.
That's a fair point. I make more of an effort to introduce the words that make up the acronyms when they are more relevant (you'll see this in Lesson 6 if you continue the series). In the case of OSI... the name is somewhat arbitrary. Open Systems Interconnect -- it's simply the name of the group which was trying to establish the standard. The letters don't actually mean anything.
Came here from Jeremy's... You got a great friend, he is promoting your channel even though you could be a competitor... Nice... Good luck to both of you...

This is the BEST explanation of the OSI model I have ever seen. So many people don't explain why it is practical to use it as a model for networking, so it's just rote memorization of weird facts that don't' have any context. Especially when you get to the upper layers. You're a very good teacher and actually made this comprehensible, and INTERESTING, and not just a bunch of facts.
Amazing. Can’t thank you enough. I’ve been looking for a practical explanation of the OSI model rather than the usual “just memorize it”, so happy to find your videos. I’ve taken networking three times and passed with flying colors each time however, I don’t use it every day so things start to get fuzzy. Now I have to apply it again and need a refresh…except this refresh is many times better than any version I was originally taught.
I stumbled across Practical Networking yesterday while looking for information on how VLANs work. I was so impressed by how well you broke it down into simple concepts with illustrative animations that I've subscribed and started watching these fundamentals videos to get a proper grounding in networking. They are brilliant, thank you.
I have been watching several videos to understand this concept and I must confess yours has nailed it. I can't wait to watch the part two of the OSI model
Finally a video that explains what devices sit where in the model. Also I have watched so many videos on this and never once have they explained the MAC address data transport part showing how the mac address is changed per hop so that helped explain a lot as well, thank you for this video.
To be honest i have 4 years of Information Technology college university degree and i have never looked at the aspect you explain at time:10:20 the way you explain it...everything makes more sense to me now....thanks a bunch 🎉🎉

Thank you so much! I’ve been bumping my head where MAC addresses and IP addresses interact and what layer 2 switches do with both. This cleared it up for me. Great video! I will keep watching as this helps me with my job ❤
Thank you so much for these videos. I am switching to a totally new career and this literally is making so much sense, you have explained it very well! Thank you!
Tomorrow morning I have Interview for Amazon, and I am preparing since last week, none of the videos made me understand better than you, you have god power.
Thank you so much, I usually thought after Layer 3 IP is the last thing to be done before sending the packet on to the wire, It is all because of your phenomenal lessons that I realized I have been wrong and bring me to the right track. Thank you a lot!
Amazing videos and very easy to understand! So just to test my learning and my understanding I will explain in a very easy way to see if I understood the 1-2-3 layers of the OSI model. Please correct me if I'm wrong. 1)Physical Layer: Basically is the layer that we want to send data and to be able to send the data we need ethernet cables, Wi-Fi, repeaters etc. The physical parts 2)Data Link Layer: This layer will try to send the data from PC1 to PC2. But to be able to send the data we need to have some routers in the "network line" between PC1-PC2 and the data from PC1 will hop to the first router with the mac address then hop to next router with the mac address and then to another hop for example and then hop to PC2. 3) Network Layer: To successfully receive PC2 the data we need the IP address. So the Layer 2 and 3 works together and we have the MAC addresses from layer 2 and IP addresses from Layer 3 and with that the IP address between the last hope will receive the PC2 the data from PC1.
@@PracticalNetworking apparently, I didn't make it on the final. I guess I just need to find another job for now and save up for certifications before I hit the IT Staff interviews again.
One of the most practical series and so easy to understand difficult subject. Please create the full fundamental course, I think whoever will watch it, definitely get benefit from it. Also, if you can have some lesson on i.e Network types on VM, i.e. NAT, Host only etc work & How Kubernetes and WAN technology works in basic , then I will be grateful to you. Thanks a lot
Why the hell aren't your videos more popular???? Your way of explaining things is much clearer than even that of the official certification trainers (not saying any names). I think you could 100% apply and be accepted for a role (at any company that owns certifications), your content is ample proof of that! Anyway, back to watching the video... :)
I wish I knew! I'm much better at teaching than I am at Marketing and RUclips-ing, it seems. =/ I used to teach Certifications, but walked away from that world. That world was more about quantity than quality, and I couldn't stand it. =(
@@PracticalNetworking I'm sorry to hear that you had bad experiences with that kind of teaching, but at the same time I'm delighted that we get to learn from your content thanks to that. Keep up the good work, and thank you! :)

thank you, I understand now. I usually get lost when we get to Layers 1 to 4 but this video explains them clearly.
Tomorrow morning I have Interview for Amazon, and I am preparing since last week, none of the videos made me understand better than you, you have god power.
How did the Interview go? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you so much, I usually thought after Layer 3 IP is the last thing to be done before sending the packet on to the wire,
It is all because of your phenomenal lessons that I realized I have been wrong and bring me to the right track. Thank you a lot!
You're very welcome, Rose. Cheers.
The physical parts
2)Data Link Layer: This layer will try to send the data from PC1 to PC2.
Best videos I've seen on this subject so far, you have a rare talent. Thank you 🙌🙌🙌
Finally, A thirsty reaches the well..... Thank you for all this :)
You're welcome, Scorpio =)
Explained this so well. Best so far!
Your explanation of how computer networks work is so clear. Thank you.
Watching the whole playlist for a quick prep on networking review. Two thumbs up as always.
How did the interview go =) ?
@@PracticalNetworking apparently, I didn't make it on the final. I guess I just need to find another job for now and save up for certifications before I hit the IT Staff interviews again.
@@Montpelier-sama Good luck with the job hunt. Hope this series helps you nail the next one =). Cheers !
This entire playlist is a godsend! thank you.
The best video I have seen on OSI model
Cheers =) Thanks for the kind note, Rosh.

For your clear explanation
Your my favorite teacher
Wish i could meet you in person just to thank you
Maybe some day! Either way, thank you for the kind words. CHeers !
Why are your videos so easy to understand and entertaining?! :)
;)
Now im certain I will pass my network + certification. .your hero sir.
Thankyou, your illustration of the difference between the function of IP address and Mac address is amazing
I have taken so many network courses, but this is definitely the best
no one has explained networking like this before. It seems so easy now.
It's great to free learning as clear mention every point to point. Thank you
It's very clear. It is enough to use as an educational material for Computer Network course. Thanks for uploading.
Glad you think so =). You're very welcome!
true professional approach of teaching.
Thank you =)
very good explanation of networking simply and clearly to easily understand out-of-the-field personnel. Keep good work and best of luck
Please keep those videos forever to help other people like us.
Hi again Thanh. They will stay up as long as RUclips is up =).
Simply Amazing..
Very well well explained. The best i have listened to so far. Thank you
This is the best explaination, I ever heard!! Thank you!!
BEST EXPLANATION AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET !
I used to teach Certifications, but walked away from that world.
@@alittax Will do =)
Could you do me a favor? If you're willing... Do you mind sharing this video on Linked In, Reddit, Facebook, or any other social media you use? That would help me with the marketing efforts =) I would appreciate it greatly .
@@PracticalNetworking I'll tell as many people at work about your channel, but I'm not very active on social media. :) Thanks again for your excellent content! :)
@@alittax Thank you =)
This guy is awesome, can’t describe any word with his great explanation
Congratulations on your videos. You do a wonderful job explaining everything in a clear and very well organized manner. Well done! Looking forward to seeing more :)
Thanks Antonio. I appreciate the kind words =)
This makes networking make so much sense... thank you.
