- I late-join an Hourly Rapid Arena and share my train of thought as I play 4 games with time control 10+0. This arena began on July 23rd, 2023 at 8:01 PM EDT. Many viewers over the years have expressed that these slower time control games act as a sleep aid. You may find that watching these rapid games may help you to improve your chess or help you to reach the rapid eye movement stage of sleep. Enjoy either way. 😊
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. I like the bullet and blitz stuff but I learn so much more from these rapid games when you have more time to explain your thought processes. It's not an either or thing, this is both a very instructional hour long video about the game of chess and it's a sleep aid of wholesome content to unwind to at the end of a long and perhaps stressful day

In the last game, there was a nice tactic on move 8 to sac the knight on d4 and push e5. Because black is so underdeveloped, there's no way to save their rook in the corner!
These are great days. I love it when I see you have a new video, Jerry. That first game I was thinking there was an opportunity to boot the rook from the c file with kc3.

I always thought your bishop opposite to your own color is considered the "bad bishop." What's the reason your same-colored bishop is bad?
Was it because his pawns were on the same color as his bish = bad bish?
A bishop is (in general) considered bad if your central pawn is fixed on the same colour complex. So the light square bishop is bad if your central pawn is fixed on a light square and vice versa

That 3rd opponent looked like someone who doesnt know what he/she is doing. Probably uses engine to get to that rating 😅
The 1500's plan was chuck pawns and hope you blunder something or screw up your development making misguided response moves to said pawn chucking. That's the entire thing. That's 1500.
