CAUTION: This Rapid chess video may put you to sleep #1

  • This is the first time I've competed in an Hourly Rapid Arena chess tournament while only recording locally(not during a livestream). The time controls for this 1 hour and 57 minute event is 10 minutes per player without any increment. For many years now, I continually receive comments about my voice and how it has been an aid with sleep. With a local record, I tend to speak softer when conveying my train of thought; I guess speaking to myself alone makes for this change. Recently I was curious to know what percent of viewers have fallen asleep while watching/listening to one of my videos: / 1450717514049142784 . Anyhow, I think this lengthier video of a slower than usual time control coupled with a softer voice may give you about a 71% chance of falling asleep. 😴 On a more serious note, I hope that at the end of the day you'll be like the Twitter follower who said: "Rather than staring at social media on my bed, I prefer to watch one or two educational videos from your RUclips channel. Either I will learn something or I fall asleep because of your soothing voice. Win-win."
I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly. Consider subscribing here on RUclips for frequent content, and/or connecting via any or all of the below social medias. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care, bye. :)

Fun fact: I’ve fallen asleep before when editing the audio to one of my videos.
Have you ever fallen asleep while watching/listening to one of my videos?
I hope this one is helpful to your chess, if you can stay awake for it. 😊
I’ve shared more info in the video’s description.

I used to fall asleep to your tournament playlist like every night for over a year. I'm pretty sure I've seen every single video on your channel like that. It's not that you're boring, it's just that your voice is soothing lol. I've also gained a lot in strength inspired by your play-style, analysis, and in-game commentary. Oh, and your tutorials on end games helped me tie games against stronger players otb. So it's not just sleep-aid xd

I have always struggled to fall asleep. Even if I am really tired and don't get enough sleep I just stay awake against my will. However, watching your videos takes me away. I get engulfed in the gameplay, the tactics, and your voice is so soothing. It allows me to not think of anything else than getting lost in the board. I would watch 10 minutes of your 3-hour long bullet tournaments before drifting into my sweet slumber. I remember I would get sad from finishing a 12 hour night shift because I had already finished your latest video and there wasn't anything new to help me sleep. Funny that you brought this up because I thought I was the only one. So on behalf of the sleep troubled community, thank you!

I just came here to say...
About 10 years ago or so I was watching your stream and I got timed out for saying the word "damn" in the chat. It shocked me at the time, but after that made a big impression on my life, as i'm a very impressionable person. I no longer used the word for YEARS. Using darn in replace of it.
I started dating someone a few months ago and very early on they used the word, something along the lines of "I love the damn dog" talking about a friends dog. Well once again I was impressionable. I'm easily influenced. And I considered why I didn't ever say it, and remembered back to the time out incident.
I started saying it again, and it felt kind of fun, kind of unruly. But it shouldn't have.
I told my orthodox religious goody goody sister and mum the story. They were perplexed. And yes as was I at the time. But the time out incident made the word seem bad to me over the next 10 years. But it's not a bad word. The time out incident made it bad in my eyes but it's just not.
So yeah, just came here to say that after 10 years I'm finally saying damn again. And there's not a damn thing you can do about it!

Fun fact there’s a guy on RUclips who’s whole channel is this. He’s called ASMRChess and he’s an awesome danish guy who makes really high quality videos. I would highly recommend it if you love this type of stuff.
    Video is great, cheers 🍻

Your videos are really entertaining, but the soothing cadence of your commentary is almost like a lullaby to me! Great content, as always :)

Please more rapid content! The bullet is fun but this gives me much more insight into your thoughts and I like being able to evaluate the position in longer games :)

Many times before 💤... Back in the days of h2 & the Adobe Flash gambit, I would fall asleep after half an hour or so

You make chess feel relaxing and logical. I've fallen asleep to your videos before. Thanks for the videos.

Jerry’s rapid games and yassers lectures have really helped me relax and get to sleep over the years. There voices are so great and there is something about trying to concentrate on what’s going on that helps me feel tired 😂

These videos have improved both my sleep and my chess! How many channels on RUclips can boast the same? 🙂

This title is insane because I always try to take a nap after my 8:30 before my next class but always end up watching RUclips videos… whenever I stumble upon one of these long videos by you about 15 minutes in I set an alarm to wake up for my next class because I know I’m out lol
