- Children claim to have witnessed statues moving in the local church in Asdee, County Kerry.
I was praying to the two statues and Our Lord beckoned to me.
In the town of Ballydesmond, two girls, aged 7 and 12, claim to have seen the statues moving. These were just some of the many alleged sightings in what would become the phenomenon of moving statues in the summer of 1985.
Since the claims of the first sightings, the faithful have flocked to the villages of Asdee and Ballydesmond to light candles at vigils. However, the local priests have remained quiet on the issue referring all enquiries to their superiors.
RTÉ News spoke to some visitors about their experiences and why they have come to see the statues. Seven year old Elizabeth Kane, who was the first to make the claim of the statues moving, explains what happened. One local woman, Maire Fitzgerald talks about opening a tea shop to cater for the influx of visitors to the town.
An RTÉ News report broadcast on 27 March 1985. The reporter is Maggie O’Kane. Развлечения
0:23 Whatever about moving statues, a Renault Fuego appearing in Ballydesmond in 1985 was truly a miracle.
Miley and Biddy from Glenroe were there))) Biddy had a Fuego.
The Fuego was a great car.
@@rocon86 for 5 years and then it rusts away
"keeping the candles lit & the shop busy". HALLELUJAH!!!!
It was a very wet bad summer, people had nothing else to do...
True
And now you have nothing intelligent to say ..people have plenty to do rain or shine
You probably weren’t even around back then with a stupid comment like that. 85 was a great year even though the summer was bad we got and Indian summer in September oct and guess what there was plenty to do.
It's a bit of a pity that none of these hand movements didn't defuse a few bombs or dampen some powder during this era.
That is very funny. Funny man making jokes against the Blessed Virgin Mary in an attempt to get a few likes. Have some respect.
That little girl is telling lies. You can tell by her eye movement
Yes that was the lesser spotted Renault Fuego at the start of this...Gov job and Back Beauty in late 80s, two decisions I still think off...
Ireland s incessant rain completely affects people vision
can't even sell a cup of tea without complaints
When you are a kid, saying things like the statues moved is very exciting and you can actually make yourself believe it.
Once I scared myself and a group of girls when I claimed I saw someone in the window of an old second story farmhouse. We has stopped a minute to give her horses a break and you never saw girls get on their horses so fast. Lol
What the hell are you trying to say?
I remember this was going on all over the country…I even went down one time to look at statues that were supposed to be moving in my local church….nothing happened
That's because it was made up by credulous wanna-believers.
There seems to be less and less of these so called events as the island becomes less religious.
those comedy shows from the 70's and 80's .,were great
What about the most recent shows the rona and climate fairy? I suppose you believe those?
..great socio historical record of the times ..it 1975 .. even though it's 1980's. 1975 lasted until 1995 in rural Ireland ....kind of sad it had to end...
I think we're turning into a Slavic country
The faith will return to beloved Ireland. Our Lady of Knock pray for us . God be with you Ireland ☘️🌹🙏
I hope not.
I am! 17 thin years in Ireland! ❤
Nelsons pillar took a wobble
Collective mental break down through out the country 😅
Looks like Colm Cooper in the thubnail
I 👍 agree!!
that reminds me of the face of jesus ..... in the slice of toast.....lol.....
Gives the middle finger
Ireland, since her people lost their faith in God, has been going down the tubes, and there is no sign whatsoever of a change in direction.
God help Ireland. God help her people. Both hopelessly lost.
@Mary Marshall I agree.
Yeah let's go back to imagining stone statues moved and abuse of kids in church run schools. I don't think so.
who is the white guy with the beard? anyway? Jesus would have been Palestinian. 😀👍
I imagine Jesus Christ as looking similar to the men depicted in the murals at the Dura Europa synagogue. In other words a bit Syrian. Dark head hair, black or brown beards, olive skin.
I've also seen Chinese Jesus and black Jesus and Japanese Jesus.
Virtually every race has imagined the Son of God as looking similar to them. But only whites are racist for doing this.
That would be Jaysus
thats Irish Jesus
Tommy Teirnan perhaps
Looks like my old uncle,
