  • Update on Kale's training progress. I feel I have more control over Kale than even Ajax now, although Ajax has more of a bond/connection to me. Anyone can do this. I have videos detailing the entire process I used in training my three monitors. There is an insane amount of detail and examples provided in those videos. I wouldn't attempt most of the methods used without ensuring your animals behavior matches mine at the beginning of each step throughout the process.
I only have experience with my two tree monitors and my ackie monitor, although I'm fairly confident that similar processes could be used to train any monitor. Keep in mind, larger and terrestrial monitors would have difficulty with some of the methods used and could likely make those methods dangerous to both you and your animals. I'm not responsible for anyone hurting themselves or their animals while trying to use these methods on their own.
Any and all assumptions made about the behaviors seen in my videos are just my opinion from studying my animals specifically. If attempting to do something similar, you need to learn to read your animals as well as I read mine.

"Farming reps" you've coined a training phrase in the monitor world.

Lol, there's probably a real clinical term for it in behavioral training or psychology, but I have no experience with either, so I just call it what it is to me using what I'm familiar with - Grinding in video games.

Very few people can really grasp the thinking and motivation i reptile brains. This is so excellently explained and presented. So many people can learn from seing this footage.
It's amazing how much memory is in their heads.
In iguanas, I've seen an iguana react the same way to a person, after 2 years of not seeing that individual.
I think it's quite possible that intelligent reptiles remember for life 😊

It's sad because I think a lot more people could grasp it, it's just that they don't even acknowledge that it exists, and so aren't even looking. Just because their brains are devoted to simpler means than ours, it doesn't mean they aren't intelligent. Abstract thought may be useless to them, but they have been around a lot longer than us and know what the hell they need to waste brain energy on.
